    You are not kidding about them almost playing themselves. I have been playing guitar since 1976 and have had a small music store amount of gear in all that time. This guitar plays better than all I have had. Les Pauls, SG’s , Strats, Telecasters, Ibanez, Washburns all of them. A guitar that is this nice and plays this well for under $1200 is amazing to say the least. When our band was gigging this was my main axe. The SG was my backup. I know everyone is different, but this is my favorite by far. Buy one!! You will not be disappointed

    I have this guitar for more than 2 years.
    really underrated guitar. It is perfect for blues and jazz. very smooth fret board and comfortable neck. perfect tuning stability and intonation.
    BUT! the frets are really really weak... mine needs a fret job after 2 years of playing on a daily basis.
    imagine stainless steel frets on this guitar....

      I just got a custom 24-08 and I've heard the same thing. After a few years, I'm definitely going to refret it with SS frets.

    I just picked up mine after a few months of playing my Gibson 335 and was blown away. I use a Helix floor modeler and have made some adjustments to the presets for my Gibsons, and, apparently, they have sweetened the tone of my PRS. I originally purchased it for a bang-around guitar for traveling--which its worth--but it is a favorite.

    Just bought one this last weekend and did a gig the next day with it.
    The pickup switching is out of this world (in a good way) super reasonant, able to play all the different things i need it to on a given gig.
    Honestly, its versatility is possibly best in class.

      Nice, glad you're enjoying yours too. I can see it working great for gigs. The switching is so handy. It's a very inspiring instrument. I've mostly used it for light rock and jazzy neo soul stuff as it just speaks to me to play that way when I pick it up. It's smooth! Having said that I need to give its metal tones a good go as the cleans are awesome. I might do a sound demo video which is excusively tones with a variety of amp settings and no talking some time. Top class instrument. Keep rockin' 🎸

    Love mine in amber. Previously owned a core Paul's Guitar, which was great, but this punches well above it's price point and like you said can achieve just about any tone. Thanks for the follow up vid.

    I have the same in amber finish since 20021 and I love it. The guitar is really great!! Just three things to mention. Every 5-6 months I have to spray the 3way switch with contact cleaner cause it won't select the bridge pickup. The tuning keys are not precise at all, maybe needs a better nut cut. It holds the tuning all right but the problem is to tune it. I would prefer the inlays to be "white" because in low light it gets confusing. Great neck, weight, versatility, tones and tuning stability. No problem at all with the non adjustable bridge!.

      @appetiteforguitar  4 місяці тому +1

      Nice, the amber finish is great. Shame about those bits giving you issues. I've not experienced those things so I'm happy for sure. I agree it's fundamentally a fantastic guitar - neck, versatility and weight. I can feel another one coming for the fun of the tremolo... maybe the new Satin CE or DGT SE...

    I've had one for a couple years. I upgraded the tuners. The originals work ok but I wanted something smoother with finer control. I switched out the pick ups for Bareknuckle Polymaths with 3 way mini switches for series/single/parallel. Oh, and replaced all the electronics for higher quality. Now it's a great guitar

    Got this exact one two months ago. Used, but in mint condition for 500 CHF/EUR. Best guitar ever! For the first time in my live I like to touch a guitar neck more than my third leg! A total no-brainer, buy it!

    It does make me wonder if the SE line will ever deliver a Super Eagle at $1600..I'd be very interested

    No Intonation adjustment on the bridge is that a concern.

    • @appetiteforguitar
      @appetiteforguitar  2 місяці тому +1

      The intonation is surprisingly excellent on this guitar. It was my biggest worry too. There is adjustment via little grub screws on either side of the bridge against the posts. I show the bridge in a bit more detail in my full deep dive review if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/Pfk5MY_GnBs/v-deo.html

    Looks like the cutout is deeper than my 2018 SE custom 22, that has to be better. I find it a bit annoying that the cutout on mine doesn't go close to the back, because when you play at the high end you feel that ridge/edge and it makes little sense... FWIW Btw. I refretted my SE with Evo Golds 57/110, I got tired polishing and re-levelling every other month or so, that was a good decision. I find most imports have soft frets and i wear them down in no time, even when I try to play them softly.

    Do not pay any mind to the Brand Nazis. PRS is not too far from where I live and dollar for dollar, you can't get a better quality guitar, period. Even the Indonesian SE's are perfectly fine for whatever you want to use the guitar for. I laugh at the dumbass who brings a $3000 Les Paul to a bar gig and then tries to tell me that my guitars are crap. Smack. If you like the guitar and if you feel as though you received a value for your money, then it's all good

      Love my PRS, I enjoy my Gibson... fell for a Fender which got me started again in the first place. So much is subjective with a lot of decent guitars around to have some awesome fun with. Keep rockin'

    I do own PRS with tremolo and it is a nightmare to tune it. I wish they had made PRS Satin without Tremolo. I do love the neck without lacquer on the satin guitar, but tremolo is a bad thing there.

    • @appetiteforguitar
      @appetiteforguitar  3 місяці тому

      Ah that's interesting. I really want to get hold of one of the new Satin SE models, they really cool. I will definitely post a review when I do. Maybe the tremolo springs need tightening in the back? That's something I often have to do on stratocasters for stability.

    There seems to be a trend with people preferring lighter guitars. I prefer tone over what may perceived as heavy.

      I had a core PRS and liked it a lot, but after 2 hours of practicing or a gig I got neck problems. Now my main guitar is a Strandberg and I have no issues. Besides that, the PRS sounded different, but to me not better at all than the Strandberg.

    • @appetiteforguitar
      @appetiteforguitar  4 місяці тому +1

      No compromise with Paul's SE. Light and great tone. I'm keen to get a Strandberg and give it a proper whirl too. I've played the 7 string version and the Endurneck felt a bit strange which is a pretty normal sensation given it's unique shape. Boden Essential is a little more accessible for sure price-wise. Hey, if Plini likes them and plays so well, there must be something to it.

    • @AndreasSchlitzkus
      @AndreasSchlitzkus 4 місяці тому +1

      @@appetiteforguitar In my opinion, there is nothing really special with strandberg, besides its lightweight, and thats great. The fanfret is so small, I never really recognized it, and the "endure neck" is much less weird than it looks. I never had any issues. I like the shape and the style, but the sharp edges are not really comfortable.
      I am shure, Plini can play the same way on any other good guitar. And there are many;-)

      I had a 2001 Les Paul custom that was 13 pounds, it was a neck killer. Sounded and played great. I now play a T style Godin that weighs 7 pounds. It sounds great to me.
