PC players, don't let this dissuade you. All of these perks are a single nexusmods visit away from being viable.
That is very true!
I have to download this mod. What site has this? And how should I mod games?
@@Thomas_Angelonexus mods. I recommend animation mods (the ones by hitman are nice) damage overhaul mods (if you prefer fps style combat to the rpg style one) and things like weapon replacers or gun mods (m16 family front sight post mod is a very cool one it fixes the magazines on the assault carbine and the marksman carbine)
@@Thomas_Angelo for perks, the mods Jsawyer Ultimate, and Perksawyer are both really really good.
@@kennydoggins1712 How is modding, and even cheating in single-player games, a bad thing? And what would give you the impression that the majority of PC players do this, and that it isn't also common on consoles?
The "In shining armor" perk reminds me of an ability you can get in skyrim (original)
Its says that you get bonus defense when wearing dwarven armor, but what it actually does is give you bonus defense when wearing any armor BESIDES dwarven armor
at least it somewhat works and gives an actual bonus 😂
Classic bethesda
Lie: “It just works”
Unfathomable depths quest with ancient knowledge
What is meant when you say "original?"
To add onto why poison resistance is useless, the Heartless perk you get at the start of OWB straight up gives you immunity to poison
What if you don't want to do owb
@@liquidsleepgames3661Still not that useful, even then. END gives you 5% poison resist per SPECIAL point above 1, to a max of 45% resist at 10. But even when not doing a super high END playthrough, the Snakebite Tourniquet automatically cures poison and gives +85% resist (max) for 30 seconds on use. Also if you side against the legion, you'll probably be swimming in antivenoms regardless
Its even less useful if you've got a mod that gives raiders like the Vipers poisoned weapons, because like the legion, they also all carry antivenom
old world blues is by far the best dlc for any video game
@@liquidsleepgames3661 why would you not want to do the best dlc in the game
12:08 The game glitched so bad that your shotgun had the Ant Mound texture and the Cazadores clipped through the terrain, I love New Vegas
No thats just the stock of the Dinner Bell. It has a scratched-up look, similar to the ant mound
Lead belly is handy when you play hardcore/survival mode, where you need to eat and drink regularly. The small amount of rads from food and drink can start to add up pretty quickly
Exactly. There's a big asterisk for Lead Belly in regards to the usefulness for it with Survival in mind. I can't live without it in FO4 Survival because of how much Radaway screws with you because of side effects, so the less rads I get the better off I am in the long run, from both down time and caps lost to buying the stuff. F:NV less so because Radaway doesn't mess with you nearly as much as 4's iteration does, but still.
Implant y-3, it's mentioned in the video does exactly the same thing with no feat cost.
@@synisterTRUE I was gonna say the opposite. I need it in New Vegas because I don't have a near infinite supply of clean water like I do at the Red Rocket in 4. If you just keep collecting empty bottles and filling them at your well, you're good to go.
I was just about to comment this. It can save space by not needing to carry so much Radaway/Rad-X
I think one of the worst ones is "Here and Now".
What it does is, it allows you to level up an additional time, immediately.
It's basically a noob trap that is only sporadically useful, for example when you desperately need those extra 15 skills to pass a certain check right ahead, but other than that, there are so many ways to gain experience in the game that this is just stupid. Also, keep in mind, this is a perk, meaning it permanently occupies that slot that you could've replaced with a more useful perk.
Gonna feel real silly about it when you're max level and you can't gain any new perks and you realize you wasted a perk just to maxx out faster.
Yeah, that perk flat out sucks
That's if you have very high int + educated, I can't imagine taking it on a low int build (or taking it at all, it's still a shit perk).
I only use it if I need a skill check like asap lmao
What if i wanted it but i didn't need a spare slot
There only one "arguably" useful instance of the perk.
If you glitch to MAX level before leaving goodsprings
When you reroll your character by leaving goodsprings, you can take [here and now] at level 10 so that you're still low to mid level, when you start the game.
Because [here and now] erases all built up exp and just gives a new level
Playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas as a teenager with my friends, we'd always take perks like Tag!, Comprehensive Learner and Here and Now, thinking they were essential and awesome perks. As an adult, I realize just how dogshit all of them are 😂
Tag is useful if you can't quite get a skill over a threshold for a quest or something you're in the middle of, but overall not great.
Here and Now is shit, but I think it's less bad in Fallout 3 where generally there are less good perks and you get a new one at each level. The perk would be more useful if it weren't so easy to get to max level before finishing the game.
Here and Now is utter bait. You're going to get that level anyway if you keep playing, so you're basically just throwing a perk away. It's arguably useful if you need enough skill points to pass a skill check/pick a lock right now, but it's very rare that you can't just come back later for whatever it is anyway.
@nicholassinnett2958 Yeah, it would only be good if you're THAT pressed for time. And if you were there, there were better items you could grab to help you like skil books.
Important note for the Tag! Perk and Skilled Trait in regards to the Classic Fallouts (1 and 2).
Skills do not cap at 100 in Fo1 and Fo2, and Tagging a skill not only gives a few skill points, but it also doubles the rate at which a skill grows from skill points, this means that Tag! also doubles the growth the skill got from Skill Points.
In Fo2; the cost to increase a skill increases as it does (for example, raising a skill from 100 to 125 costs 2 skill points each point in the skill), so Tag! outright doubling the *growth* the skill got instead of just the amount of skill points invested in it (if you raised a skill from 20 to 100 (which costs 80 Skill Points to do) before using the Tag Perk on it; it would gain 80 Points in the skill alongside the starting Tag Bonus, instead of just gaining 80 Skill points in the skill. A lot of builds (especially in Base Fo2) can very easily skyrocket in power after taking Tag; including a way to get about every skill to 100 using the Tag! perk.)
Skilled is not good in Fo1 and Fo2, it reduces the amount of perks you get in a playthrough (from 1 every 3rd level to 1 every 4th level). This is a lot more punishing in Fo1, but still is really bad in Fo2.
In regards to the hacking attempts, I always did the trick you mentioned of exiting out of the computer after 3 tries. In all the time I've played Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I never knew there was a reset of any kind that would keep you on the same password attempt and refund the failed attempts.
It's super useful once you know that trick!
I assume you’ve already looked it up, but just in case:
Look for any set of open and close “border” characters, including (…), […], {…}, and . Like he said, some will just remove a dud, but occasionally it will refill your tries. Not all terminals have them, and you won’t always be able to reset your tries on ones that do (you also can’t reset your tries more than once per attempt), so still be strategic on your approach.
@@CaptComical Appreciate the tip.
I would almost ALWAYS take tagged just to get all of my skills to 100 and only very recently realised just how pointless it is when you can get all of your skills to 100 just by getting to lv 50 🙃
You can also do it at level 1 with a glitch
@@montecarlowithdawningornam1817whats the point of playing then when you are already a god before even leaving goodsprings
@@noobgun12 For those more interested in the role play than the game play, I guess?
It COULD be useful if you take the Logan's loophole trait for whatever reason, since that caps you at level 30.
The other thing to note about Broad Daylight is that it doesn't even remove the effect of the light on sneaking, it just adds 15 to Sneak when the light is on, so if you use it at 100 Sneak it does literally nothing.
A perk which genuinely did mean you could sneak with the light on without penalty wouldn't be so bad. FNV has a lot of places that are both dark and full of enemies. Being able to sneak through them unseen while still seeing what's in front of you would be somewhat useful on occasion.
Honestly I think of you like a type of friend who knows about everything optimal while still prioritizing fun. Your recent DRG builds format was so helpful!
Thank you very much Jimmy!
In a real life post apocalypse these trait would be op to anyone but in game where you can decide your own fate with a ''load'' button ..... it practically useless.
That is very true.
Broad Daylight is even worse than you say it is, how it actually works is it gives you a sneak bonus to "counteract" the Pipboy light penalty, but the bonus is so small that it doesn't actually help you sneak better and basically doesn't do anything
Here and Now is even worse than In-Shining Armor for me. Not only do you lose a perk, you also lose a level's worth of time you could have spent enjoying the game! Just why?
That one is pretty bad too and it will probably be in the second part of this series.
How does it cost you a level's worth of time? It's not like the game ends when you hit max level. I just nuked both the NCR and the Legion, hit level 50, and still have the Battle of Hoover Dam ahead of me (and maybe Dead Money, if I feel like suffering).
I should add that, unlike In Shining Armor, Here and Now can still be useful for challenge runs or speedruns where you're ready to finish the game but need to level up at least one more time. (For example, you just hit level 2N, put all skill points into Speech and, even with all buffs available to you, will only reach 97, so you take Here and Now to hit level 2N+1 and put the points into Speech again. Another example would be a roleplay challenge run where you try to beat the game as a particular historical figure or fictional character, and need to have a certain set of perks for the build to be an accurate representation, you've just hit level 2N and the last perk is at 2N+2, you can take Here and Now to only have to grind one more level for the build to be complete.)
In Shining Armor is only useful if you're doing a challenge run where you don't take any perks that will help you (i.e., useless perks or perks that only buff skills you don't use). They're both bad, but I think In Shining Armor is all-around worse.
It's actually cool to take if you do the goodspring xp glitch and rebuild character when leaving the tutorial so you get to lol to 50 get a bunch of perks and get to play the game and level while being insanely op
@@nathancrashgamenerdat that point just console command yourself to max level
@lukegibb1967 no console commands if you play on console brother, just looking out for my console boys 😢 😢
Fun fact: Tag! is actually downright amazing in literally one Fallout game.
Fallout 2d20, the ttrpg, where your tag skills raise your chance to get crit successes on skill checks.
(Funnily enough iirc Lead Belly is awful there too.)
Tag is good for FO1 and FO2
The best perk on this list is the Tag perk.
It’s a perk I use often when I’ve got nothing else to put it in, good to buff my weapon skills as I usually have repair, lockpick and science as my main 3
That is probably true.
I assume that Obsidian was out of ideas for perks when they were developing Lonesome Road.
That could be.
Lead Belly on Survival Mode (Hardcore) is amazing.
With the amount of food you need to eat, you will stack up quite a lot of rads. And again, Radaway will make it so you have to eat and drink more.
And the implant will take a long time to get, specially on Hardcore. Since you Do require to sleep, eat and drink to survive. Which is also why Survival skill is a very useful skill to have.
Irradiated Beauty is also very handy on Hardcore, since again, it removes a lot of use of the Radaway uses, which will make you again have to drink and eat a lot more. Which is overall a strain on your resources. Also gives back a lot of the Rads you just cleared.
And you do not always have access to a doctor to heal or clean your system from radiation or damages.
In normal play, sure they are bad, but in Hardcore they are life savers.
The others are pretty bad yeah, even in Survival mode (Hardcore).
Purified water and cooked meat are common in FNV, also taking this perk to avoid spending for 100-200 caps (the radaway or doctor cost) every now and then is not worth at all.
The fiends, and big mountain is what would make In shining armor more worth wild if it was function. Fiends aren't crazy strong but they run around with RCW at level 1 so anytime you are near them you got a chance at eating laser.
Yeah that would help a bit more.
I saw junk rounds and was like “can’t be that bad, get another way to craft ammo”, but then I remembered I had drained every vendor of ammo and still came out gaining caps, which meant I had like 600 9mm by the time I hit Vegas. Glad I didn’t waste the point
Yeah it sounds like a cool idea, but ammo is not that hard to find in FNV.
Also the Scrounger perk allows you to pick up a bit of extra ammunition from 90% of containers.
In shining armor was primarily added to dead money for the holograms, as there are multiple sets of sunglasses and sets of metal armor there, effectively being the best suit of armor from a defensive point but by wearing it you take a penalty to sneaking past the holograms, which technically use a laser attack
I think Irradiated Beauty is better than you think. Granted, it still belongs on this list, but it's way better than "make your Pipboy light unaffect Sneak at level 36"
Tag is so far beyond pointless. Just grab intense training intelligence. You'll gain 17 more skill points leveling up to 50, and 6 skill points from the intelligence increase. That 23 extra points instead of 15. That's if you take it at level 16 when tag is available, if you take before then, you'd get even more. So for extra skill points, there's a better option
If you have 8 or more int and educated freaking here and now gives you more skill points
No mention of here and now? I thought people HATED that one
I have been playing for years, but recently got the addons. I was recently excited at the prospect of junk rounds. Then I started using it, and was pretty let down. 5 tin cans for 1 bullet. Tin cans aren't rare, but they can be a bit hard to find early on. Then they weigh 1 pounds each. It feels like with the weight conversion, you are better off just loading up on better loot, and selling it for bullets.
Junk Rounds disappointed me so much in my JSawyer run. Never looked back at it. Hand Loader is very worth it, tho
Also, dont try Jsawyer unless you really hate yourself
Why?
@@fojisan2398 it's was hardcore fnv made by its developer as the true way to play fnv.
I think it's fun but pretty brutal. The reduced carry weight is really rough, high STR is a necessity
Lead Belly is a good perk early on in survival-mode in FO4. As for FO:NV, it might be different.
I agree.
Loving the NV content, waiting patiently for part 2
Thank you very much Ian!
Meltdown is arguably worse than In Shining Armor, I'm surprised not to see any comments about it! It causes enemies to explode powerfully when killed my energy weapons. This sounds great, but its utility is very situational... and it makes enemies in melee EXTREMELY dangerous to YOU. I wanted to like it but it killed me more times than it ever helped!
We're all lit up. Is it Christmas?
Roughin' It is actually good for Hardcore mode, as you can combine it Home on the Range so any campfire will become a full heal for Health and Limbs.
If In Shining Armor worked, it could be decent in Old World Blues where the Roboscorpions do energy damage.
I still remember the day I accidentally figured out the pipboy had a light lol it literally lightened my day
A consistent problem with the Fallout Games since FO3 is that so many aspects of its gameplay are holdovers from its isometric days and just don't fit super well in first person game. Some of these would be very useful if it were still using the same engine and game play as the original 2 FO games.
YUP does fix In Shining Armor, since it wasn't even working correctly. The perk is not that bad if you are playing Tales of Two Wasteland and your main enemies are the Enclave later on.
5:50 i found out pip-boy light by holding tab cuz i was "thinking" and then i saw a light, i thought it was one of the power armor abilty.
Infiltrator and Computer Whiz are for the players who mess up in the beginning and learn mater on. It gives them the opportunity to go back to locks or computers they've locked themselves out of and attempt again.
I wasn't even aware that Broad Daylight existed, it may be the only perk I didn't realize existed.
On a different note, I honestly find it kind of tragic that Mile in Their Shoes is as bad as it is. Considering how niche Nightstalker Squeezin's are, and how much you have to go out of your way to make them, it really should have turned the item into a solid consumable. I'd say the Poison Resist should be 15%, the Sneak should be +10, and the healing should gain the ability to scale with Survival (along with the healing just outright being increased. It should heal a bit less than the Desert Salad imo).
I'd lastly argue that In Shining Armor wouldn't be that bad, assuming it actually functioned. The bonuses are actually supposed to apply to a lot of armor in the game, including all of the Power Armors (if it was updated/fixed, it'd probably apply to some of the best DLC armor too). Admittedly, it being limited to energy weapons only is a minus, it'd still be nice to be even harder to kill in the circumstances that they do apply in.
10% EXP bonus is best used when you are about to complete a big 5/5 quest chain or even completing a DLC main quest. Just roll with 9 to intelligence and you'll be fine with experience. I personally think Swift Learner is a waste because unlike Fallout 3 where you get a perk after every level, you only get one after every 2nd level, or even level. There are better perks to be grabbed early on instead of banking and ranking on Swift Learner. Since you have to kill in order to get the most experience, just enjoy killing. The Legion doesn't mind. ;)
I completely agree with that too.
Well thanks to all your Fallout videos you have finally converted me and I am starting to play this is going to help out a lot
Glad to hear! Hope that you enjoy Fallout!
The Fiends also have a bunch of 'Laser RCW' usage.
But as for the rad perks: If you go through 'Dead Money', and mod the restriction out of how much you can play at the casinos, the Sierra Madre can literally supply you with infinite amounts of radaway, rad-x, ammo, stimpacks, and food, for the rest of the game. Just be sure to get all those 'restricted vendor recipes' before you leave.
Also, The Sink in 'Old World Blues' is by far the best player home in the entire game.
so basically cheating
@@mettatonfanboy,
It's not cheating to remove a restriction that should have never been there in the first place; While using the game's mechanics normally in every other way.
Cheating would be using the 'player.additem 000000f 5000000' code to add things. That one being specifically for 5mill caps.
I feel like lead belly was much better in fallout 4 because it can make you immune to getting radiation from food.
That's cuz Fallout 4 overhauled the radiation
instead of having your own radiation gauge that slowly builds over time with giving you penalties to some of the SPECIAL stats severity depends on which tier of radiation you're in
in Fallout 4 the rads changed to straight up reduces your max HP on buildup
@sigmazeta2044 Yeah that's true, although I remember hearing someone argue that rad scrubbers for power armor were better than fallout 4 lead belly, even though you can max out lead belly before you can get that upgrade for power armor.
When playing fallout New Vegas if you are going for a synth style build you would not pick educated as a skill as synths are not really educated they are more programmed you could however pick comprehension at level 4
For bonus skill points from the skill books also a lot of people argue over living anatomy which shows an enemies damage threshold but it also does more it also tells you which weapons are more efficient at taking down a particular target as different enemies have different resistances to different weapons and is also good for astetic reasons if playing a synth style build at level 8
After all these years and "in shining armor" was never fixed
With mods it can be fixed.
When it comes to In Shining Armor being bugged, it's actually the opposite. All energy weapons in FNV are correctly classified as energy weapons. The problem is that In Shining Armor checks for damage from energy when considering whether or not the DT boost kicks in.
Not damage from energy WEAPONS
Damage from energy.
No, that still means it's bugged. The WEAPONS are programmed correctly, the perk is not.
@@HenryLarson-wq2xp yeah, it is still bugged. I might have worded it a bit awkwardly, but I was trying to say that ISA checks for if the damage you received is energy damage and not energy *weapon* damage.
Tag! was pretty good in the original games because it also halved the requirements to raise a stat at level up in addition to giving you a +20% boost total boost. It was available at level 12, meaning it was a very tempting offer for basically a respec near the late game
Roughin It is useful for an XP maxxing build. Stack it with Swift Learner x3 and the level 26 perk for +1% XP per lvl together with the other sleep related perks and you'll be getting 140+% XP constantly as you play because you can sleep whenever you need to outside once you get the Lonesome Road bedroll item due to having the XP perks active and being constantly Well Rested. Quickest way to lvl 50.
On the subject of most people not knowing about the pipboy light, my gf was one of those many people
She's been playing through new vegas for her first time ever, she's loving it
She was doing the quest to find the source of the night stalker mutation, she had been in the cave where the mission is located for about an hour just scouring the place for the dead super mutant body (she didn't know what she was looking for, but she wasn't seeing it)
At some point during her search I said "hey honey, do me a favor and hold B"
She did it and said "what?! Has that always been a thing??" and she found the dead super mutant instantly and she was really upset that she had walked over the mutant several times without ever seeing it
I am playing Fallout 3 again, and New Vegas for the first time, and the first thing I do is turn Brightness to 0 so when it is dark you actually see nothing. That HDR Screen Effects spoils it though. That Broad Daylight would not be that bad!
Tag! is actually a really useful perk because you can use it to default to barter so your playthrough becomes a little easier.
So, something about the Junk Rounds perk made me want to write my own mod for Fallout 3 or NV, about an idealistic scientist you can encounter who has an impossible dream. You can help him clear the Super Mutants and/or Cazadores out of his facility and go on several incredible quests, raiding Vaults, robbing the Brotherhood of Steel, and fighting off Talon Company or Caesar's Legion to finally acquire all the parts you need to fire up the machine. Just when it's about to work, House Securitrons or Enclave soldiers show up and demand the scientist turns the device over, and kills the scientist. You barely escape with your life and get the Brotherhood or a team of mercs to return with you and free the project, finally firing it up. After 30 seconds of whirring machinery, it spits out its output - a single tin can. Yes. You've done it. You now control the only machine in the wasteland that can UNBEND Bent Tin Cans! Imagine it - Tin Cans, free for everyone. No longer will the Wasteland be shackled by Bent Tin Cans!
Where are y'all finding all this rad-x and radaway in FNV? I hardly find any in first aid packs and most vendors for me never stock a whole lot, Dr. Usanagi tends to stock the most but it's only like 6-8 for me every play through.
This is why I took perks like Rad Absorption or Irradiated Beauty for convenience.
You can get a lot in Novac. Cliff always gets a dose or two of at least one of them every time he restocks, and Dr. Strauss always seems to have 3-4 doses of each. They restock every 3 days, so if you use the motel room as your permanent home, you should be going back all the time and just need to remember to hit up both vendors (and any travelling merchants that happen to be in town). If you do Julie Farkas' quest in Freeside, you can get a free Stimpack, dose of Rad-Away, or dose of Fixer (your choice) from her every single day.
edit: And the doctor in the Brotherhood bunker always has a good amount of each, so if you have to destroy the bunker, consider putting it off for a while.
I think you're not exploring your environment as thoroughly as you could be
You kinda have to go out of your way for it, but it's there. Keep looking.
I had like 80 radaway that I barely used by the end of my playthrough. Although I also had 10 luck so maybe that's it? Regardless I was finding it very frequently so these perks would be an insult tbh.
you can just tell this video will do well from the thumbnail, 100%
Thanks I like the way it looks!
I do believe you completely missed the point of Alertness. Perception has one main benefit not mentioned here, affecting VATS accuracy with ranged weaponry. It may also affect melee, but you’re already close enough why use VATS unless you want to swarm them with hits then.
Anyway I digress, I believe the perk is specifically meant to be used as a temporary VATS accuracy buff for Sniper builds.
Perception has no effect on VATS in Fallout New Vegas. That would be true if this was in Fallout 4.
Also, "Roughin' It" combined with a bedroll, means you don't have to waste half of the duration of your Well Rested perk traveling back to the place you're racking up experience, from whatever owned bed you happen to have. Still not massively useful, but it's got its benefits.
Not that i'm an expert on this game, but i almost abuse the "roughin it bedroll" to heal and restore limbs constantly when playing, so the irradiated beauty is kinda nice to have in that case. Not that i don't have tons of radaway stocked, but it's just one thing less i have to worry about.
I actually think computer whiz is more useful. Mostly just because the lockpick minigame is far easier. Ive never accidentally broken a lock, I have accidentally locked myself out of computers
It’s crazy how this game is so well regarded when so many of the perks are broken and they didn’t even patch the game to fix them.
Don’t need alertness when you can just have ED-E as a companion his perk is pretty much alertness and you don’t have to be motionless
"A lot of people don't know the pipboy has a light" - yeah, no. That's a ridiculous statement
the fact that 6:03 is the most replayed part says alot. lol I had played fallout 3 (and had read fallout equestia) so i knew the pipboy was supposed to have a light, but I thought they had removed it here as I couldn't find a button for it. lol
New Vegas feels like such a chore to play. Going through load zone after load zone (Hidden Valley) and hoping the game doesn't crash.
I think "in-shining" perk, was really-really made in alpha state, where all plasta/laser weapons were classified es "energy weapon" for the developer, just they forgot to change this at the end hahaha
Coming from someone who went into New Vegas mostly blind, I can say that I ended up taking a lot of these bad/broken perks, but honestly I didn’t feel as if my gameplay was negatively impacted whatsoever- I was having fun continuously!!
All in all: if you’re doing a certain build, or role-playing, do what you wanna do!! Of course, do take into account any particular broken and or bad perks, like Lead Belly, because they’ll just be a waste of experience points.
Yeah, feel free to build however you want, this wasn't made to tell anyone how to build but to make a fun video. As well as some of the perks are bugged and it might help someone thinking of grabbing those perks.
Perk Rework ideas:
Infiltrator/Computer Whiz: Combine the two and call it Security Expert. Additionally, grants 1-2 more chances in the hacking minigame, and allows Strength & Luck to factor into forcing the lock.
Tag!: Allow you to split the 15 points across the skills (by 5 points) and allow you to put them into even your prior tagged skills.
Junk Rounds: Let the courier reshape bent tin cans into normal ones, or at least scrap metal. Additionally, give the option to break down surplus, plinking, and bulk ammo, so it can be re-crafted into more useful rounds (and vice versa, I guess).
Lead Belly: Allow some less common food & drinks to REDUCE radiation, in addition to the aforementioned benefit. And if that's not enough, having higher levels of radiation poisoning makes them last longer--gaining more health & nutrition from food. Maybe also incorporate highly irradiated foods into crafting recipes, like their normal ones.
Broad Daylight: Have bright light in outdoor areas not affect your sneaking anymore (assuming it does affect it).
Mile in Their Shoes: Additionally, permanent slight poison effect to all unarmed attacks (stacking with venoms), maybe also melee. Consuming nightstalker squeezins amplifies the poison effects, and extends it to ranged melee, guns, thrown and placed explosives.
Irradiated Beauty: Having higher levels of radiation poisoning boosts charisma, and gradually speech & barter.
Alertness: Make the restriction merely tied to being crouched--you can move just fine. And buff the Perception bonus to +4 or +5
Roughin' It: Reduce the required level to 20, and maybe Survival to 90-80. Maybe also being well-rested also boosts movement speed and AP regeneration/max. Maybe also a bonus to food healing & nutrition.
In Shining Armor: Have it also include power armor. In addition to the DT bonus, have a chance that the damage is reflected back on the attacker (dependent on luck). Additionally, if the armor is in good condition (above 75%) adds a charisma bonus. If the DT bonus is still not enough, add a smaller bonus against guns.
I think a better way to fix Tag! would have been to make it so that untagged skills can only be permanently (i.e., by SPECIAL, by skill points, or by skill books) raised to 85 or 90, and getting it to 100 requires a temporary buff by some combination of a skill magazine, chems, and items that buff either the skill or the SPECIAL stat it derives points from. Then the Tag! perk would allow you to permanently raise a fourth skill to 100 without needing consumables, which would give it some real value.
@@desertdude540 No, buffing Tag! by nerfing every single skill is no good
Junk Rounds is great if you're using the Dust mod. Because there are no vendors in the game!
Lead Belly can be an ok filler perk in hardcore mode since hardcore Forces you to eat stuff regularly and a lot of food and water is irradiated.
Usually outclassed by other options but not bad unlike the other perks here
I feel as if infiltrator could’ve been better by giving Bobby pins more health meaning you can use them for longer before breaking, and computer whiz could give you an extra guess whilst hacking, it wouldn’t make the viable perks but they’ll at least have some more value
I don't think the tag skill would be as bad if it was level 2 or 4.
I agree, if it was at a lower level then it might be an okay perk.
The Roughin It perk is better than that sleeping roll since that sleeping bag weighs you down.
And with Irradiated Beauty, sleeping would do so much.
I was trying to convince my self that “Alertness” was kinda useful and I just had to remember it and try to play 90% of the time while crouched and still… now I have the confirmation that I was wasting my time lol
I have the one flashlight mod that acts like clothing or a weapon, so it pretty much works like broad daylight because it's not programmed as the pipboy light.
Computer Wiz and Infiltrator: You get one more attempt!
PC Players abusing Quicksave: How do you add onto infinity?
I accidentally took Lead Belly in Fallout 4 because I misread it and thought it would give me RAD resistance overall not just for food and drink and I basically wasted two levels
Pipboy Light's on.
I'm soo relieved to hear I don't have any on this list 😅
Awesome!
I always avoid irradiated food in general.
I usually just eat caravan lunch, maze, potato, pear, water and sunset sarsaparilla.
As for Shining Armor and enemies that use energy weapons, plenty of raiders near the Vegas Ruins have Laser RCWs and they do hurt somewhat. Super Mutants use them too, sometimes.
The well rested one the major issue with the aquireable homes is the fact that the moment you fast travel youre going to lose the well rested. Still.. useless perk
I didn’t know Lead Belly was bad funnily enough cause I always play New Vegas with mods and balance adjustments. The modded versions remove things like raw food debuffs.
Aside from Tag!, I don't think I've literally ever taken any of these perks in New Vegas... Not even when I modded my game just to have a lot more perks. I've also played these games since Fallout 1 & 2 times.
Those radscorpions bitched out quick when you whipped out A Light Shining in Darkness.
I use broad daylight with the mark 2 stealth suit because it turns on your pip boy light randomly and I have a stealth melee build but other than that it’s useless
Fair.
But heck with that last perk. They never did patch that nonsense...now that's a damn shame. Thank god for the modders
Wow that slow down 12:11 is crazy. Not sure if I experienced that yet. I have a 2019 gaming laptop I’m playing on as well. Maybe mods or something. I also heard this game crashes a lot but not sure what people are talking about. The same for fallout 4 I haven’t had it crash on me yet and I have that on my ps5
A must have mod is perk every level. Makes the choice so much easier when you get to choose 50 times vs 25
I don't like that as much because then you kind of end up being good at everything. I like that you have to pick a build and stick with it.
@@ReapeeRon this is fair, the perks being every other level was the single thing that annoyed me coming from 3 however.
Lead belly was a decent perk imo in fallout 3 but new vegas but water gives you so little hp it's not worth it
I agree with that, and in fallout 3 there is not a lot of great perks overall.
lol i always get Tag!, usually have one more skill i want that it helps me out for, used it to max a skill real quick
Two things I've learned from this:
1: There IS a pip-boy flashlight!
2: a reset appears after failing three times in hacking, so it makes backing out and in all the more tolerable! I genuinely hate the hacking in Fallout D:
The reset doesn’t just become available after 3 misses, it is always there :)
@@taylor0000027 Just gotta be on the look out for the Bracket sets in the hacking screen, moving the cursor over properly closed bracket sets can remove duds and there's a chance one such set will reset tries.
@@faylinnmystiquerose2224 I thought it was available on every hack attempt?
@@taylor0000027 there's been times I've been going through the hacking mini game and not had the reset tries thing come up, rare though
@@faylinnmystiquerose2224 Been quite a while since I played.
Lead belly came in handy if I'm doing a hardcore playthrough. When i ran out of healing items. I couldn't gsdt travel to buy more healing stuff. Lead belly & the cannibal perk was a blessing. The cannibal perk i get in every fallout game. Lead belly only if I'm super f 😂 it's not for every playthroughs.
Irradiated beauty is one of my all-time favorite perks I use it in every run LOL it's so damn useful
I'm pretty sure the roughin it perk also heals limbs at a campfire on hardcore, so if you have the bedroll it would be pretty good on survival playthroughs
i choked on my chili w laughter when tag popped up bc as a low int build enjoyer this is literally my whole strategy LOL, guess im just low int irl ;^}
I had to use it on my 1 int character that I got 100 in every stat.
Im just gonna say, Yes there are a few useless perks, but some of these just Skill issues or lack of knowledge.
Like Leadbelly. Yes on its own its kinda useless, but paired with old world gourmet adds bonuses to survival stats on VH-HC. Also the ingame hidden perks like DayTripper and Free Radicals becomes op when paired correctly.
00:06 WE ARE GONNA TALK ABOUT THE P
Lead Belly is pretty useful in FO4 Survival mode, as well as the only time Aquaboy is useful. I still don't use them- But I imagine people doing a, like, Ghoul speedrun playthrough of Survival would.
I know I’m late to the conversation, but can you stack old world gourmet’s effects by taking at creation, and then taking it again after leaving goodsprings?
If you do that you won't have the option to take it again, but you will get it as a free perk.
@@ReapeeRon I did get the option to take it again, but the effect of addiction resistance did not stack, during my quick play test. I made a character, have myself 200 xp, got the perk, left goodsprings, got the perk again, added Chem resistant to my character, and proceeded to take 50 doses of jet. I got addicted after around 42 hits. Looks like it doesn’t stack. Anyway, thanks for the quick reply, and have a great day!
Edit: gave, not have. Typo.
I did another play test where I got old world gourmet at level 2 while in goodsprings, then immediately left, respec’d, and took intense training as my “new” level 2 perk. I then got some wine, damaged myself, drank the wine, and I didn’t heal at all. So it didn’t let me keep the perk; it could be from a mod on my end, and your mileage may vary.
Interestingly enough, Tag is not a COMPLETELY useless skill. In Fallout 3, I use Tag and Almost Perfect to boost Unarmed past 100. This gives you a boost in damage for unarmed, or max offensive builds. It boosts Deathclaw Gauntlets substantially. 😈
Is that a thing in Fallout 3? That is interesting.
@@ReapeeRon Only Unarmed benefits from being boosted past 100 points. The infamous two Hockey Mask Rapid Switching Glitch takes advantage of that to make it possible for unarmed strikes to hit for hundreds or even thousands of points of damage. I settle for about 8 additional points of damage. 😛
I used the Infiltrator perk when I played as a 1 intelligence melee tank with 10 points in the lock pick skill.
Him no smart enough to pick locks so he him hit 'em instead.
Roughing it should have been a low level perk with only 25 or 50 survival to choose. The higher the level, the less effective the sleep XP bonus is, as you have already leveled and defeated X amount of the video game.
