North Atlantic '84 Soviet 30 | Blocking Oslo | Cold Waters w/DotMod

18-NOV-84 North of Murmansk
K-371 (Victor II) has returned to Murmansk for reloads and new orders. We need to rush over to Oslo to stop a NATO sub from dropping off commandos.
19-NOV-84 Norwegian coast, between Oslo and Bergen
We intercepted the subsurface contact just off the coast. We found ourselves facing a British Oberon... who foolishly responded to our ping challenge. Unfortunately for it, our TEST-71M was faster than his Tigerfish Mk24's. So we sank him before he can get to us.
GLAVCOM was very happy, and gave us new orders: chase down submarine tender in the east of Norwegian Sea.
21-NOV-84 Norwegian sea, between Torshavn and Mo i Rana
We have intercepted this type of convoy before... Only a frigate, usually Knox-class, escorting an AOR oiler. The trick is getting past the Knox, which has a towed sonar array.
We started in front of the convoy, and we need to laterally displace to the east, which we were able to do.
We fired torpedo toward the oiler when we spooked another contact... Seems there's an Oberon in front of the oiler. No matter, we fired two more TEST-71Ms to go after the Knox and Oberon. We can chase down the oiler later with a 65-76 or ourselves.
Both Knox and Oberon were sunk, and we charged southwest, leaving the NATO maritime patrol behind, going after the oiler. When we judged we have sufficiently accurate solution, we fired another 65-76, and this one took down the oiler, ending the mission.
GLAVCOM was pleased.

The year is 1984. For whatever reason that sounds plausible, the tension between the West and Soviet Union went taut, then snapped into open war. The Soviet Army can take Europe, if the Soviet Navy can stop or at least slow the amount of reinforcements reaching continental Europe from the US. And as a captain of a Soviet navy submarine, I will do my duty for the Motherland.
There is one mod to the campaign. I used the "Small Mods" guide (which I wrote, by the way) to remove the prestige requirement so I start in a Victor II, instead of the deathtrap diesel-electric subs like the Whiskey boats. You can learn how to do that here:
