21-NOV-84 Norwegian Sea
K-371 (Victor II) has received new orders: proceed to Bergen, to stop an enemy diesel-electric submarine wolfpack from interfering with Soviet naval operations in the Norwegian sea.
22-NOV-84 Just off Bergen
K-371 has just arrived and taken up station outside Bergen and we detected an underwater contact.
It's that mystery sub again (see episode 29) to our east.
We immediately launched a TEST-71M, dogleg'ed further to the east, and chased down the mystery sub, and sank it. Its return torpedo failed to track us.
GLAVCOM was very pleased.
Our new orders are... head back to Oslo and block it... again! Seems ANOTHER NATO sub has been tasked to infiltrate that area...
25-NOV-84 Just off Oslo
We intercepted another underwater contact... To our east-northeast. We started going active, and this time, it's an American Skipjack.
We launched a TEST-71M to chase the Skipjack away, then dropped a Vjuga-65 on it to keep it dodging while the TEST-71M closes in.
This time, Vjuga-65 managed to kill the Skipjack and TEST-71M was not needed. We did have to dodge an incoming Mk 48 torpedo though.
We disengaged, and GLAVCOM decided to give us a medal for finishing another mission successfully.
But of course, they have another mission for us (for next episode).

The year is 1984. For whatever reason that sounds plausible, the tension between the West and Soviet Union went taut, then snapped into open war. The Soviet Army can take Europe, if the Soviet Navy can stop or at least slow the amount of reinforcements reaching continental Europe from the US. And as a captain of a Soviet navy submarine, I will do my duty for the Motherland.
There is one mod to the campaign. I used the "Small Mods" guide (which I wrote, by the way) to remove the prestige requirement so I start in a Victor II, instead of the deathtrap diesel-electric subs like the Whiskey boats. You can learn how to do that here:
