Ah, yes, the perfect episode to watch whist eating dinner, particularly the part where you're describing tripping over the desiccated corpse. Seriously, though, the bat looks great, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you have in store coming up.
Amaziiing, I do have soft spot for bats and skulls..Cant have enought of them and there is not to muuuch.Muhaaa,ha,ha.. Well, In other case, If you ask my husband..😅
I made a zombie crow one year out of those skeletons, and this year I found an amazing gargoyle that I'm going to do the same thing with. It's fun to do them up.
I love this bat idea 5:58 🤔 plastic I'm a pass on I think some Dollar store White Creepy Cloth might work [I'll have to aquire a bat skeleton and try it]
Hey Voltaire, Imagine this, if the mummified bat came to life, it would immediately looked right at you smiling and then give you a little hug without the wings falling off for creating it scarier mummified bat that no one had ever seen before. You are a genius! It's so "fright" looking that it's so "right".🖤🖤🦇👍👍
Hm. Yet another reason I think I need to finally shell out for a heat gun. This is giving me ideas...though I might have to do some Fiji mermaid-style splicing to get them to really work. I imagine piecing together one of the skeleton turtles with some choice pieces taken from a frog skeleton and possibly a small human skeleton might make for a spot-on kappa mummy. Now, if only my apartment had room for me to display something like this if I actually managed to make it...
Thank you for this little tutorial! Liked and saved! I recently picked up a wicked looking goat-skull plastic mask and I'm thinking I may 'mummify' it using this method. Either that, or use this trick on another skeletal bat or skeletal animal prop I have around my own lair. (Or all the above)
I am SO going to get a copy of your book as soon as I can afford it! I adore these Gothic Homemaking videos, even though I'm more Steampunk than Goth... (Yes, I know, nobody's perfect... 😜) EDIT: Of course you "winged" it with this project. After all, weren't you... Raised By Bats? 🦇
If you are looking for a more dried up skin appearance, you can add paper mache. When it is mostly dried, you can roll it up a bit near eye sockets, around the mouth, or as tattered wings in this instance. I'm going to do this to an animal skull mask I got the other day to use as part of my costume. Happy haunting everyone!
3:00 ya i dont have to picture that, i was a body removal attendant ( udertaker some people would say ) & one of the bodies i had to removed looked mummified but heres the fun part it was freshly dead hardly any smell & still wet ( poor thing ) i also deald with oue that was basically human compost & that was an awful smell & my gurnie straps almost couldn't strap it down properly because it ran out of length to tighten up the straps but i managed.... i miss that job it was the best job i ever had
LOVE this DIY! It is awesome as an old museum taxidermy type piece, and also I think it could work for many other themes! I was thinking of making one for a tiki tropical island horror set up for summer, but I don't have a heat gun. Do you think a hair dryer could work in its place?
Have you tried doing the heat gun/melted plastic effect on a larger scale? Perhaps...a human size, for a costume? It seems like it should work but not sure how fragile the melted plastic gets.
It all looked so easy until you brought out the heat gun, the only thing I don't have at home other than the bat itself. Well, I guess I could rent one from the local hardware store.
I could, but it takes forever to dry and is much harder for people to find than plastic sheets. So this technique is much friendlier for a wider audience. If you'd like to see how I corpse up a skeleton with latex, check out the dessicated Vampire hand prop I made in the Gothic Life book. 🎃🎃🎃
Voltaire's a video machine this year 🖤
I love this project because it makes the ears of the “skeleton” less annoying because a skeleton wouldn’t have ears. But a mummy would.
Yeah, I hate when I'm minding my own business and then trip over a random skeleton. 😂😂😂
I never thought much of those skeleton animals, but now I see what you can do with them with a little imagination.
You could really do something special with that massive spider skeleton they had in store too!!! 😮
Ah, yes, the perfect episode to watch whist eating dinner, particularly the part where you're describing tripping over the desiccated corpse.
Seriously, though, the bat looks great, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else you have in store coming up.
Loving your book. So many spooky DIY's it's hard to know where to begin. 🦇
Great finish for the bat 🖤
The King of Macabre Halloween has RETURNED!!!
Yessss the comeback. Ish lol, not like it ever really left
If you don’t have access to a paint cloth, I’ve found that using cheap plastic wrap from the dollar store works really well!
Great video...making a bat gaffe that is better than the real thing!
I wonder if somebody still drinking a shot of Rum or other alcoholic beverage every time when he says painted black?
Amaziiing, I do have soft spot for bats and skulls..Cant have enought of them and there is not to muuuch.Muhaaa,ha,ha..
Well, In other case, If you ask my husband..😅
MUMMIFIED VAMPIRE BAT 🦇 DIY THAT'S A GOOD IDEA FOR MY HALLOWEEN 🎃WEDDING DAY AND 🥂ANNIVERSARY PARTY.
I totally agree with the adorable little rat! "YEA"!! Crafting!!! 🎃💝🎃
It looks so good! I almost can't believe its a DIY project lol
Wow! I cannot believe how that melted plastic looked, it was very realistic. Nice job.
that lil prop became a legit show piece.
As a professional taxidermist, I couldn't have gotten a better video on my birthday! Love you guys!
Happy birthday!

I made a zombie crow one year out of those skeletons, and this year I found an amazing gargoyle that I'm going to do the same thing with. It's fun to do them up.
Fantastic!! ❤️🦇❤️
I missed hearing "I painted it black." 💝
Dang Norville was Dead serious with that question haha got a dad joke 🤣
I love this bat idea
5:58 🤔 plastic I'm a pass on I think some Dollar store White Creepy Cloth might work [I'll have to aquire a bat skeleton and try it]
A goofy extra step could be to glue a broken kebab stick in the ribcage to make it look like that's what killed it. XD

He looks Fangtastic! Almost looks crispy! Wait, are his feet facing backwards?? 😬🤭😁
Oh Voltaire, you have such a way with words....
🖤🦇🖤Great mummified bat. Looks realistic and very easy to do. Great idea for a lair. Have a spooky day everyone.🖤🦇🖤

The heart of gothic homemaking: gaffes
I’m in love with your book 🖤 The ideas just ooze off the pages into my brain 🧠 I’m so excited to go into full blown DIY mode 🕷️🕸️💀🖤🦇🐈⬛
I love this! I don't have a heat gun so I might try it with tissue paper soaked in glue and water, like a very thin paper mache.
I was missing so much the DIY projects 💜 this was Spooktacular!
The result is amazing) Looks like a movie prop)
You are the reason I bought my first can of black spray paint. 🖤
Orville, does your face hurt? It’s killing me!! 😂😂😂
Ohhh mumification 👏
So cool bat!!❤❤
Very cool concept. Your book is awesome and glad I purchased it to add to my Macabre book collection. 🦇💜
Suddenly I want to make many mummified creatures and display them on an whole wall 💚🖤

Hi Voltaire I love bats & all that's spooky 👻💀🧛 loving your channel 🖤 love from Australia 🇦🇺👍👍💖
Did Orville get some work done? Because his skin is so tight already I don’t know if it could handle Botox

All hail Voltaire 🖤🖤
This may have been your creepiest gothic home making video yet. 😨
Happy Spooky Season friend
The puns are mighty in this one. By the way folks, if you don’t have a heat gun, use unpatterned toilet paper and Mod Podge.
Would a hair dryer work..?
aureilo voltaire you are my favorite song artist you are the best in the world I love you videos songs and you are the best
I'll order the book when my wallet will see some better days.
Spooktacular🦇🎃🖤

holy guacamole, I have this bat, man...

Now I'm sad I can't find those silly little bat skeletons this year. They're are all sold out, boo!
Thanks for the video 💀🦇
Now I need to make like 50 to decorate my room 😂
While ill gleefully use this idea for other projects, not sure even that'll allow me to ignore the inaccuracies in that bat skeleton 😅
I made a flying monkey using a monkey skeleton and the wings from skeleton bat for a side show gaff exhibit
LOVE this DIY! It is awesome as an old museum taxidermy type piece, and also I think it could work for many other themes! I was thinking of making one for a tiki tropical island horror set up for summer, but I don't have a heat gun. Do you think a hair dryer could work in its place?
It's possible! Give it a try
Look 👀 good 🧛🏼🧛🏼🧛🏼🦇🦇🦇🦇
3:57 😂❤
Have you tried doing the heat gun/melted plastic effect on a larger scale? Perhaps...a human size, for a costume? It seems like it should work but not sure how fragile the melted plastic gets.
Yes, @wickedmakers published a video making a full sized skeleton from my book Gothic Life using the same techniques
🖤🧡
Could be a gothic novel.
It all looked so easy until you brought out the heat gun, the only thing I don't have at home other than the bat itself. Well, I guess I could rent one from the local hardware store.
You can buy a heat gun for like 25 bucks. Its useful for other projects like tombstones from insulation foam.
OMGGGG
👍🏽👍🏽
You could also use latex :)
I could, but it takes forever to dry and is much harder for people to find than plastic sheets. So this technique is much friendlier for a wider audience. If you'd like to see how I corpse up a skeleton with latex, check out the dessicated Vampire hand prop I made in the Gothic Life book. 🎃🎃🎃
@@TheLairofVoltaire I will! I just found it at one of our online stores (I'm not american) and I'm so, so happy they have it! :D
