If your projector has a way to correct for the keystone effect you could place it to the side so the bright light didn't show. I really like using the fence.
Another option that could be used in combo with it. Make the light look like a separate effect. Put what looks like a glass fortune teller ball or "magic artifact" in front of it but in such a way it's not actually blocking or distorting the light. Put some really dim candle like lights around it and you've turned a bug into a feature.
I simply use black foam board and cut out a cemetery scene and place the projector behind it, then use the keystone to correct the video orientation. The tombstones don't have to be big, only about 6-8 inches high, just enough to hide the projector glare.
Nice! I had no idea tulle would work for this kind of projection. I've been trying to get the wrinkles out of my shower curtain liner for 2 weeks & I could have just done this instead! Bravo! Looks wonderful!
This is too cool!!!! Thank you for sharing!! I think you could do a much more uplifting Christmas one!! Kids skating on a pond with Frosty, a manger scene, santa & reindeer on the roof❤❤❤❤
@@jonathanmcvay4499 NOPE not at all. I don't do demonic at Halloween. And I DO PREFER TO CELEBRATE JESUS'S BIRTH 🙏✝️ I find the birth of our LORD more uplifting than things crawling out of hell--- but that's just ME. @@vickigonya9432 I am a Christian, and the son of a minister. Halloween is not demonic unless one makes it so. Otherwise it is simply an American holiday. Nothing evil about it. I bet you put up a Christmas tree. That is a pagan symbol as well, if one chooses to make it so. In fact, if you have anything at all up in your home other than religious symbols like Nativities, it is NO different than celebrating Halloween. Matthew 7:1-5. “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
Love the effect! One suggestion is to put the projector off to the left side pointing towards the right but hitting the screen material. That way the light from the project will not be seen by the viewer.
Talk about WAY too hard on yourself man! You have done awesome and kids in my area thank you! Don't beat yourself up about anything here, you did great man. Many thanks!
AWESOME IDEA! I just got a Webmaster glue gun! I didn't think of using it this way! I will post an updated video soon since I'll be improving it many ways, including with your suggestion. Thanks! :)
That looks really awesome. Nice job. Mosquito netting is a good alternative to tulle. It comes in different colors. I've used green along some bushes on the edge of my property. It blends in really well.
Fantastic effect with your gate! Well done. You might look into using a piece of chiffon in a some shade of light gray. I for get the exact name of the shade although I believe it is called “casa collection platinum” from JoAnn’s fabrics. It is a little denser weave than the tulle and as such only requires one layer of material. At night, if objects behind it are properly lit it becomes virtually invisible, especially with that fence and gate you have. Also you might consider using a small set of computer speakers hidden behind the other tombstones if you ever wanted to take the sound level up a bit. Not saying what you did was bad at all just offering useful information should you ever need it. Looking forward to more content. Thanks for sharing.
Chiffon is much easier to rip and I don't see zipties holding it, tulle is much better for that. Tulle also is 4 to 8 times cheaper, so still the cheapest way to go.
OMG...I HAVE TO DO THIS!! I've just GOT to do this....ANY time of the year...to mess with my 9 year old grandson!!! LOL!! I'm saving this video...and I'm hitting Walmart Monday or Tuesday and start my hunt for items needed. THIS is GREAT!!! I know nothing about projectors so I HOPE I get the right kind. I've already got to get bales of stray for the laser tag course I'm starting on so it's ready for Christmas for my grand kids. Getting them a laser tag set!! Gonna do walls, barrels..stacks of hay bales and whatever else I can come up with. But FIRST...I'm going to set up ...or attempt to...this hologram in the field first.....OH I CAN'T WAIT!! I'm one of THOSE grandmas....the ones that the grand kids LOVE...but also tell her she's CRAZY at the same time....LOL!!

Great video, nice effects. One option is using a frosted shower lining which you can get from the $ store. I have the projections on a window overlooking my driveway this way. Makes me wish I had a nice gate like yours so I can put outside :-)
I hope you get some children's reactions to this on video. It's so hard to impress children these days with their connections being so deep. I love this and you made it look simple..very creative and thoughtful.
Eeekk. That is so 👻 Spooky Scary. Skelton Skelton. Yikes. 😮. Really awesome decorating. Thanks for sharing your project and ideas. We have a lot of tulle that we know what to do with. But now we need the white color Tulle. 👍.
If you read all the comments, somewhere he says he’s changed to using grey tulle as it’s more discreet. We always use grey and it’s far better, especially if you’re using black lights to make white ghosts glow in the dark.
I would suggest grey chiffon instead of tulle. I have several outdoor projections and chiffon is superior in image quality and brightness which allows me to use less expensive projectors with lower lumens to achieve the same result. Happy Haunting!
You also have to make sure that sprinklers are turned off, and the LCD projector is behind a locked gate if you’re going to leave it out all the time, so it doesn’t get stolen.
Absolutely, I live in Montreal, Canada, so the sprinkler gets closed in September and I always lock my gate. That's also why you use a cheap projector for this.
Absolutely! If you want to keep your privacy, just use a white sheet for the windows, but you'll lose the ''hologram'' effect. Thanks for your comment! :)
Looks like a fun project for next year. I wonder how well this would work up against a window to make it look like a skeleton was inside the house and looking out the window.
@@ericsvariouscreations4583we run our smoke through a cool box filled with frozen bottles of water. Keeping the smoke cold keeps it low down. Also spray the ground with water first as that helps the mist stay low.
3:17 do you leave it out overnight leading to Halloween night? If so, it’s condensation building up on the lens and issue? Now that oh typed out the questions, it’s somewhat occurred to me. It shouldn’t be an issue for the first couple of hours after the sun goes down. Unless you run it until the sun comes up. Especially because that’s when dead returns to where it came from! Seriously though I want to know if you run it all night long! it would be awesome. Driving past your house early in the morning on the way to work and seeing this. Then again seeing this in person. Would be amazingly awesome! Halloween is the most, wonderful, time of the year!
I leave it open all night long a few nights before Halloween. No problem so far, even if i had rain and snow. But it's HIGHLY NOT recommended for the reasons you stated. That's why ypu must buy as cheap as you can. 😁
Ingenious. I have to try it.
Two observations about the tulle. In the light it looks like cobwebs, in the dark it gives an illusion of fog, too.
That looks really good. I never saw it done with a gate. It makes more sense than behind someone's big front window
Wow! Fantastic effect. Your house and fence seem a perfect stage for hosting Halloween decorations.
Thank you very much!
I do this for Halloween too. It's a huge hit! Thanks for sharing 😊

For those who wonder... "tulle?" ... it is the fabric used to make bridal veils, etc.
Would cheese clothe be better?
I use garden fleece ( usually for protecting plants from frost), it is more whispy.
