Just when I thought German goths were intense, Mexico is like, "Hold my cerveza." Those bars, clubs, and cafes are intense... especially the bar/cafe with all the skulls embedded in the walls! That Aztec/Mayan/Native Mexican art looks right at home there. It's gorgeous. Not to mention the art!! What talented people to be able to freehand album art, band logos and gorgeous murals. It's all so beautiful. I never knew my life was missing a Goth Trip to Mexico City. . .
Germany's goth scene seems super intimidating to me lol. After this video though I'd love to visit Mexico City and just chat with some of the designers about the local fashion industry...in my horrible broken Spanish. Maybe it's from working for a Guatemalan business* for several years, but Latin America just seems so friendly and welcoming. *mind you, this was not a goth business and there were still plenty of lovely hand painted skulls ❤

Truly I teared up a bit about this aspect of the video. My grandma used to be a seamstress, but the fast fashion boom in the 80s killed her work. If the US wasn't so obsessed with low quality and high volume clothing (et al) that exploits people in other countries, we might see more businesses like the clothing shops in this video, making gorgeous bespoke pieces that people feel amazing in.
Idk if this Is everywhere pero here on México you are better off working for your own business... Yes the hours may be loooong but you really do get to see things happen ❤️ aquí también se puede.
I remember going to Mexico City back in 1999 and seeing full blown goths dressed to the nines, complete with corsets, Victorian dresses, velvet frock coats, ruffled shirts, fishnets and and buckle boots along with Robert Smith hair and make up in the middle of a weekday afternoon! I saw them at the market, the subway, at the taco stand, etc. and that's when I knew that Mexican goths are hardcore!
The coolest thing about this entire video is the support of small businesses with real passion and a DIY attitude. The closer these 'scenes' stay to the true anti-establishment DIY experimental art punk underground, the better. Thanks for showing us all the hidden gems out there. The best stuff is in the shadows.

Thank you for that wonderful inspiration! - Mexico City appears to have a scene that still holds so much that I miss from the 90s and 2000s of Goth like making your own clothes, passion for music and creating dark things
Good time, good season, to go in that date specially if you going by late October and early November, to enjoy the dark holidays like Halloween and Día de Muertos(The day of deads) like Coco's movie because if you have a chance if you visits the boutiques and restaurants you saw in the video ask the owner where you can attend an ofrenda or a festival, October and November are the perfect months if you are a Gothic lover.

THANK YOU for posting this video!! The scene in CDMX is soo intense! I go three to four times a year, and recently started making sure to stop by El Real Under whenever I'm in town (you weren't joking about the fact it is hot af in there). I am tooottalllly going to check out algunos de los talleres de los darks (goth ateliers) the next time I'm down there. I am blown away they have the designers and costureras right there! THAT is part of the magic of Mexico. *swoon* There are also electro/industrial events scattered throughout town on any given weekend, but I rely on friends from that scene to recommend where to go.
Hi. Currently I'm helping a friend to add subtitles. You can type them and add them, and then submit your collaboration. Right beneath the video in the three points next to "Save" you can see the option "add translation" Do it and maybe he accepts your contribution. After watching the video that says some people got offended about this particular video, maybe because it's not in Spanish, I'm planning on write the subtitles and send them to him. Good luck! Have fun!
I absolutely love this! Coming from a Mexican background I’ve always wanted to know more about the Mexican subculture! Great to know there’s spots to visit in Mexico City
I've been to Mexico City once when I was younger but I did not know about this! It's incredible! edit: as a witch I need to go to those witch themed cafes! gods I love being Mexican. this video helped me see the other side of Mexico. I need to buy some boots there!
I love your DIY's and exploring different markets, but this is one of my favourites ever! Who knew Mexico CIty had so much in terms of witchy places. I'm going to Salem Mass next month, and it pales in comparison.
I haven't been to Mexico since I was a kid ( maybe before elementary school? Can't remember exactly it's been that long) and it's such a gorgeous country. The gangs give it a bad name, but hey, every country has them. Hopefully one day I can go back to appreciate it more as an adult than as a kid who barely knew what the word 'Halloween' meant.
Cool to see my neighborhood! (I live in Buenavista!) Hope to catch you next time, thanks for the amazing "darks" review of our city, you are awesome :)
So I'm finally home so I was able to enjoy this video to the fullest. Amazing places. I'll make sure to check some of them cafes and shops I miss during june. Again in November! Yeees! ;) you read that right the gang gonna be back! 😝😁
Me ha encantado el vídeo. Y la convivencia de festividades. En España, tradujeron la película como Pesadilla antes de Navidad, por una vez respetaron el inglés.
Mexico had a crazy scene for punk music and metal (aswell as goth music ofc) a while ago. My favorite band "Acid Bath" has said that Mexico has the craziest and most intense goths and metalheads at their live shows compared to Louisiana where they're from. This was back in the 90's btw, probably not as crazy nowadays. During one of the very few shows they did in Mexico, the crowd was tossing around a severed goat head on a stick. Someone came up to the band and gave it to them and they used it for an album cover.
Yo vivo en la Ciudad de México toda mi vida y me encanta el hecho de que todavía me falta por conocer! Gracias por el video, mi misión es recorrer los lugares que recomendaste
OMGs, I'll definitely have to visit Mexico City to shop for an outfit to wear for my Master's Degree final performance! It won't be gothic per se, but it will be a mixture of classical music and art songs in the first half, with a rock set in the second set. :)
Beautiful... 😍😍😍😍 This video really make me cry. Love the Real Under, El Centro de Salud y Foro Bizarro, etc Thanks for show us thats wonderfull places
Great video, my Mexico city is for sure one of the best places in the world to be a goth, I think you probably only missed UTA bar (donceles) where practically the mexican goth scene started more than 20 years ago, ironically, the place is not so popular among popular goths now but still a great place to visit if you love to dance new wave, gothic rock, post punk etc.
