Very nice and inspiring, thank you ! Gives me great ideas for improv which I've been struggling with, so thanks ! Can I ask you how you approach improvisation ? Do you mainly compose your lines or do you copy licks and interject them in your playing ? I think I'm hearing some bill frisell / julian lage influences (arpeggios and counterpoint)
@@TheHappyLeperBeaver Thank you very much for your comment, really glad it helps you. Thats such a nice question, to me the improvisation is the combo between rational practice of scales, arpeggios, chords, themes, comping, the listening of the guy i love, didn’t really listen to Julian Lage in the last 2-3 years while I certainly love so much Bill Frisell, Pat Metheny, Keith Jarrett, John Scofield, Peter Bernstein, Jesse Van Ruller, John Coltrane, Joe Henderson. Then when I play I try not to think at all about What i’m doing, I try to practice that while playing themes or comping endlesly till I can simply play it without thinking at all. GdL
I have been working on my own version of All the Things You Are for fun, on a Squire Jazzmaster, so I can appreciate how good this is. Great arrangement.
