- In this video, I make it back to Manila, Philippines. This is my 3rd visit to the country within the last five years. I am excited to complete my travels for 2023 here.
The Philippines has always been a fun place to visit and during Christmas time it is even better I hear! Come along for a first video back exploring more of BGC and getting my bearings back as this is my first time filming in a few weeks.

I'm living in the town of Pateros, the place of your AirBNB that you were residing as of this moment. If you want an easy and cheap fare going back to Pateros, just get back to Market-Market, there's a jeepney terminal behind it, nearby the outdoor playground. Just look for Pateros route. 😅✌️😎 Then you can also take a tricycle straight to your unit, once you're in Pateros. Just a trivia, one of the towns or cities in Washington, US, was also named after Pateros. It was because of one of our former mayors having internal matters with the mayor from that town of Washington in US. ✌️😅

The Philippines now is so welcoming to US citizens. The country is so america in the 80's. It's safe with security guards everywhere and CCTV surveillance in streets. There's so many ultramodern city bubbles like BGC you have to explore. There's the Ortigas center, ASEANA city which is the entertainment district where big hotels and casinos are, Eastwood city, a Hollywood inspire district. And off course the Makati city. Enjoy Metro Manila.

Only In the Philippines Christmas is celebrated long it will start September to December, thats why every Christmas time we miss the Philippines more , here in the US ,generally we can start seeing Christmas decors after the Thanksgiving and its almost December.
That area where you came from is the "EMBO" (Enlisted Men's Barrios) villages. BGC was originally part of a military reservation. The EMBO villages used to be the homes of the soldiers based there. As years passed, their descendants live there plus migrants.
Ahhh okay. Interesting! It is an area of quite some contrast. A lot of nice homes and a lot in unstable condition unfortunately :(

This is why our lifestyle is simple. We learn to manage with only little.

I'd love to stay in BGC but man the airbnbs and condos are a bit out of my budget right now. One day i'll stay there and it'll be so much more convenient. For now, moto taxi it is I guess

Shangri-la hotel lobby cafe just around the giant 3D billboard has free w i f i . Just enjoy a cup of coffee and you can hang in there as much as u like.

Where are you staying? If Makati, cross the briidge from One Ayala to BGC bus (you can see Jollibee on the right) Get your ticket in the BGC ticket booth. , php 15.00 for the bus and walla you are in BGC.

Not all Starbucks (most don't). Yes, wifi is available in the mall but only if you have a local number. You have to sign in with text authorization.

So you tried to save from $30 airport sim but it apparently costed way way a lot due to the inconvenience and hassle in settling in your airbnb.
You may be a budget tourist but sometimes you need to manage priority than saving a few pennies.
Unfortunately, if people have the $30 to spare, SIM from the airport makes the travel less-stressful. 😅
almost all starbucks in PH dont have wifi. its better to go to other coffee shops.

@@MattReardonVlogs different experience for me when I took a vacation there just a few months ago, angkas was more busier than joyride for me but I thought it was cause angkas is a bit more known than joyride then but also if you are planning on traveling a little bit further it’s nice to experience and learn lrt and mrts it’s cheap and mainly for experience it’s nice

BGC is blunt. Kind of boring, no other attractions, if i where one of the developers, ill put flowering plants on the side walks, or ill have a park dedicated to flowering plants, also ill put up unique and mesmerizing sculptures and work of arts, ill put more good looking fountains, and even design some of the building there eco friendly like the SMC Bldg. at Pasig. I would plant trees like Narra and or the Philippine cherry blossom. More parks for children to play and a public library and a park where the elders can enjoy relaxing peace and quiet. Thats what i think will make BGC a complete bubble. BGC planned to build the icone but it never happened even in there dreams
Some of the buildings could definitely use some hanging plants or more grass features. I like your ideas. More parks (green spaces) are always a good idea. Hopefully more will come in the future to make it even warmer. :)

I can say...there are many places in the US that I don't feel comfortable going and if I do, I feel super on edge. The Philippines is pretty safe, but foreigners feel a sense of insecurity due to the area being unfamiliar to them or even getting many unwanted stares. But...that's just a part of travel, right? 😃
