AYN just knocked it out of the park with the odin 2. It is the best handheld of 23-24. I bought the pro model and it's now my daily driver. The only thing I would have liked is tap to wake up screen option. Wish that was an option so I don't keep having to press the power button.
It’s a great system just bought mine from Amazon. I know the price is a tad bit more but I got 1day shipping free plus if something goes wrong I can get it replaced next day. That to me was worth the extra cost. This machine really brought a smile to my face. I will not be here that much longer and I’m happy 😃 got to experience this ps2 upscale is an experience. This and my steam deck are great companions to each other. I will be passing these to my sister because she is an avid gamer and I know they will not be pawned off. But yes for anyone who is thinking of getting this just do it

Love mine and it's saved me money, No need for RP4 Pro or the Anbernic RG566! or the next device from them either. Still think this device is good for the next 12 months, so £300 will keep me covered for 18 months, last 4 months and the next 12, That's good value.
got my Odin 2 Pro about a month ago.. still in the box lol.. powered it up once and thats it.. still into gaming on my PC.. but knowing at some point i'll start using it is all i care about.. got the case and dock too..

I am extremely happy with my Odin 2. A few things I initially had concerns with were the ergonomics because I often find handhelds too small and also the screen size. I was not sure if a 6" screen was quite enough for my liking. The ergonomics turned out to be great, I am very comfortable holding it and using either the joystick or d-pad. The 6 inch screen looks great and I find the aspect ratio great playing everything in full screen so the screen size is quite good if you are not obsessed with accurate aspect ratios for every system.. Playing every game in 3x resolution for PS2 is wonderful. The battery life is exceptional as well. I will say that probably my perfect handheld would be this type of device with a 7" screen so that might be the only thing down the road that could grab my interest. Other than that I expect to be extremely happy playing my Odin 2 until possibly the Odin 3 comes out. I typically do not game during the weekdays but I find myself picking this up in the evening and playing it daily.
I love my Odin 2! between emulation and streaming with my PC, PS5 and Xbox is just amazing 😍 I just can't for the steam deck 2 and psvita 2, and I am happy to wait patiently with my Odin 2 pro :)
My Odin 2 Pro Rainbow variant arrived about 5 days ago. I've never played such a perfect and powerful hand held. Honestly if I went into everything I love about the Odin 2 my comment would be so long no one would want to read it. And wow does the Rainbow variant look so clean in person. Mine is basically set up as a PS2 console with 500 of my all time favorite PS2 games plus my GooglePlay games, and just that alone is an awful lot. I'll be loving this hand held long after its specs are made obsolete.
I was the first to buy it I got the secret early bird. I have it loaded with games and that battery life is insanely good but I've barely touched it. I've only completed prince of persia the lost crown on it so far
I've already put like 100 into Minecraft on it, but it's been a bit buggy lately, which I don't think is the Odin 2's fault. I initially bought it for Switch, but I'm still waiting for Switch on Android to get better.

I have the RG556 and that OLED screen is truly something else! and the device isjust amazing in its own right, so if you did settle for the RG556 you would still be happy! If I had the extra funds I would of went to the Odin 2 just cause it is so much more powerful but the IPS panel is a no thank you compared to Anbernics OLED panel.

I got the max and I love it play it almost every day in short bursts but I need to get a decent sized sd card because that 512gb fills up quick once you add a few android games and the disc based emulators games

the ONLY thing holding me back from getting this is the lack of an OLED display option. even a 60hz OLED would have been killer. just going to stick with my old s20 plus + a razer kishi, since I mostly stream games from cloud or PC anyway & it can still handle emulation up to the wii. plus use a s23 daily so it can handle the heavier stuff, just the lack of active cooling is annoying
I purchased the odin 2 Pro and I'm blown away with the performance handles ps2 and gamecube like a dream and battery life is excellent it is by far the best purchase I have made in recent years even if it is at a higher price point
My portfolio based on device size is Miyoo mini, then retroid pocket 4 pro, then my phone+controller, then steam deck. I believe by the end of this year we will pass the subpar ps2 emulation in 200$ range.

to me buying a steamdeck or an asus rog ally for emulation is ONLY recommended if you want JUST ONE HANDHELD but being honest i could never be satisfied with just one handheld as each of them have massive faults that always have me looking elsewhere. if I were to only own one handheld id have to keep constantly selling and upgrading at least 4 times yearly just to avoid FOMO. As someone who collects handhelds, each handheld serves a purpose. so i stick to whats the best for each OS then get that Best steam gaming handheld - Steamdeck Best Gamepass+epic+gog handheld = asus rog ally (there's also the X but not sure if its worth upgrading just for the better battery - will have to dwell on it) best Android/emulation handheld = Odin 2 Best Cloud Gaming Handheld = GCloud (i know the odin 2 can do it too but gcloud has a bigger screen, better battery life and has a more ergonomic feel)
I love mine. The ability to swap between xbox Gamepass, swtichgames, old games, and android gams is INSANE. MY only complaint is the sticks are switch sized, but I knew that when I ordered it. And pro tip. Don't think about the specs. The Odin 2 can play any game out there if it can access it, and it will be able to for the foreseeable future. Technology isn't getting stronger, its getting smaller. Newer devices just know more about the machine math of the benchmarks and perform better than they truly do, old ones too. They JUST manipulate the machine math so newer stuff looks better than it truly is. A game from today is identical to a game that came out ten years ago regardless of whatever made up shiny things they try and add on. Play the games. Have fun.
I'd buy a modded Switch if there were one around me because the real hardware has 100% compatibility. I can't find one and I bought original games when on sales on my Switch OLED. I want Odin 2 for PS2, DC, Saturn, and 3DS. Too bad availability is a problem.
That doesn't make any sense. The apk for Yuzu will always be available online. Just like you can find the last updated version of Skyline before they stopped development a year ago.
I have the purple odin 2 pro, currently playing Odinsphere from vita3k and Xenosaga trilogy using NetherSX2. Overall the Odin 2 is great and that is for the long term use, the only downside is the screen, can be much more larger like 7 inches or remove the bezels and better brightness.

I own an Odin 2 pro but I don't think the device for its price does make sense if you are not interested in switch emulation, for everything else it is basically overpowered.

I'd like to know how the performance will be affected when it comes to the different SKUs. Will the Base model have slower performance on more advanced tasks, i.e. Switch emulation?
The only difference between models is RAM and Storage. The Base model has 8 GB, which is enough to run almost everything at identical performance. If you want to run Yuzu then that's where you need the pro model's upgraded 16 GB RAM, because Yuzu is pretty much the only emulator that actually uses that much RAM.
ETA thank you for what you do. I've been in the market for one of this for a little bit but, ever since the specs of the AYA Neos Pocket S was out I've been on the fence about the Odin 2. Thankfully this video give me a solid idea on difference in performance. However my real concern is battery life and software. I was hoping you could add those when you do a full review on the Pocket S. Also if you have any new accessories or add-ons for the raspberry pie 5 I would be very interested on checking those out.
At the end you stated good price for 240$ with mSD card. Obviously you meant $340. Also dissapointed you put this up against the Gen3 but didnt talk much about how Gen3 devices currently have poorer battery performance, and overheat right now. You did mention it in passing, but its a bigger deal as this is currently the most powerful Android emulation handheld on the market currently. Comparing it to a phone is apples and oranges for what your getting.
Because they have the same CPU n GPU as he said in the beginning. Only difference is the storage n ram. Performance is damn near the same across all Odin 2 midels

With the caveat that I don't own one and am just parroting what I've seen other reviewers demonstrate; the Base Odin 2 is more than good enough for GameCube. The only system that requires the extra RAM of the Pro and Max models is Switch. If you're going to stick with 6th gen and earlier console emulation then get the Base model and save a few bucks, IMO.
Hmm, this would be a good indication of what we can expect from Nintendo's new Switch 2 performance wise. AYN has to have a higher profit margin because they sell less consoles overall than Nintendo does. And Switch 2 will likely have a custom SoC, which will be a more GPU emphasized SoC. If AYN can make profit off of 300 dollar device with this level of performance, I am hopeful for the Switch 2.
Nintendo is a money hoarder... they will push the least powerful hardware they can enough to justify their idea of upgraded gaming experience. No other companies goes as hard against emulation as they do...this proves they'll to all they can to maximize profits, be it from the device itself and the games too. I'll consider getting a switch OLED when the modding process gets easier... so far i dont wanna go soldering wires to he CPU chip lol. The only good nintendo device is a hacked nintendo console.
@@Ezio470 The switch came out during the PS3/360 era and the performance was amazing for a handheld at that time. I think the Switch 2 is going to be a convincing new console as long as it remains a portable/console device.
Just ordered my Pro for XSX remote play. I have the Portal for my PS5. I hope it’s worth it. I have the G Cloud and deciding between the two which to keep. My only concerns with this device is warranty, support and reliability which is all questionable yes?!?! I also think pricing is high at $369 for Pro. Unless I am out of touch pricing wise for something like this.
One thing I didn't hear you mention in comparing the 8 Gen 2 versus the 8 Gen 3, is that the 8 gen 3 is significantly more power efficient. That s24 ultra seems nice but also crazy expensive to me

Odin 2 is a beast for emulation and android hands down, and that wont change. It is better than 95% of the devices out there.

Rp4 can do most ps2 games. Rp4 pro can play all the ps2 games(that are emulator certified). We already have sub 200$ ps2.

Hey, since the Tab S9 has the same chip as the Odin, I'm wondering if it performs similarly. Have you done a comparison of those two devices?
Will not perform the same.... maybe for the first 10minutes only. then the tablet will thermal throttle.

This days, i play Digimon Cybersleuth docked, with cpu in ECO (enought to 60fps), fan in Smart, and the battery lasts 6-8 hours, at least :)

Newer devices just know more about the machine math of the benchmarks and perform better than they truly do, old ones too. They JUST manipulate the machine math so newer stuff looks better than it truly is. A game from today is identical to a game that came out ten years ago regardless of whatever made up shiny things they try and add on. Play the games. Have fun.

I'd buy a modded Switch if there were one around me because the real hardware has 100% compatibility. I can't find one and I bought original games when on sales on my Switch OLED. I want Odin 2 for PS2, DC, Saturn, and 3DS. Too bad availability is a problem.

That doesn't make any sense. The apk for Yuzu will always be available online. Just like you can find the last updated version of Skyline before they stopped development a year ago.
I have the purple odin 2 pro, currently playing Odinsphere from vita3k and Xenosaga trilogy using NetherSX2. Overall the Odin 2 is great and that is for the long term use, the only downside is the screen, can be much more larger like 7 inches or remove the bezels and better brightness.

I'd like to know how the performance will be affected when it comes to the different SKUs. Will the Base model have slower performance on more advanced tasks, i.e. Switch emulation?
The only difference between models is RAM and Storage. The Base model has 8 GB, which is enough to run almost everything at identical performance. If you want to run Yuzu then that's where you need the pro model's upgraded 16 GB RAM, because Yuzu is pretty much the only emulator that actually uses that much RAM.

ETA thank you for what you do. I've been in the market for one of this for a little bit but, ever since the specs of the AYA Neos Pocket S was out I've been on the fence about the Odin 2. Thankfully this video give me a solid idea on difference in performance. However my real concern is battery life and software. I was hoping you could add those when you do a full review on the Pocket S.
Also if you have any new accessories or add-ons for the raspberry pie 5 I would be very interested on checking those out.

yes, that's perfectly safe. they're usually rated to go up to 100+ degrees C. as long as the fan is spinning, you're fine
At the end you stated good price for 240$ with mSD card. Obviously you meant $340. Also dissapointed you put this up against the Gen3 but didnt talk much about how Gen3 devices currently have poorer battery performance, and overheat right now. You did mention it in passing, but its a bigger deal as this is currently the most powerful Android emulation handheld on the market currently. Comparing it to a phone is apples and oranges for what your getting.

Because they have the same CPU n GPU as he said in the beginning. Only difference is the storage n ram. Performance is damn near the same across all Odin 2 midels

I have both the Z1 Extreme ROG Ally and Odin 2 Max and I use the Odin 2 every day, unlike the Ally. Great handheld
They aren't comparable. The odin 2 can't play pc games. If you play pc games get rog ally.

Hello, i' m hestitating between the pro or the max any advices please ? Want to play game cube games.
With the caveat that I don't own one and am just parroting what I've seen other reviewers demonstrate; the Base Odin 2 is more than good enough for GameCube. The only system that requires the extra RAM of the Pro and Max models is Switch. If you're going to stick with 6th gen and earlier console emulation then get the Base model and save a few bucks, IMO.

Hmm, this would be a good indication of what we can expect from Nintendo's new Switch 2 performance wise. AYN has to have a higher profit margin because they sell less consoles overall than Nintendo does. And Switch 2 will likely have a custom SoC, which will be a more GPU emphasized SoC. If AYN can make profit off of 300 dollar device with this level of performance, I am hopeful for the Switch 2.
Nintendo is a money hoarder... they will push the least powerful hardware they can enough to justify their idea of upgraded gaming experience.
No other companies goes as hard against emulation as they do...this proves they'll to all they can to maximize profits, be it from the device itself and the games too.
I'll consider getting a switch OLED when the modding process gets easier... so far i dont wanna go soldering wires to he CPU chip lol.

@@Ezio470 The switch came out during the PS3/360 era and the performance was amazing for a handheld at that time. I think the Switch 2 is going to be a convincing new console as long as it remains a portable/console device.

Playing with yuzu you can get it up to high 70s celsius, but that doesn't happen all the time and with yuzu, it's almost expected
Just ordered my Pro for XSX remote play. I have the Portal for my PS5. I hope it’s worth it. I have the G Cloud and deciding between the two which to keep. My only concerns with this device is warranty, support and reliability which is all questionable yes?!?! I also think pricing is high at $369 for Pro. Unless I am out of touch pricing wise for something like this.

One thing I didn't hear you mention in comparing the 8 Gen 2 versus the 8 Gen 3, is that the 8 gen 3 is significantly more power efficient. That s24 ultra seems nice but also crazy expensive to me
The 8 gen 2 is actually more efficient, the main difference is the 8 gen 3 has a much better GPU.
