Finally a tutorial from a curly girl who DOESNT have hair down to her butt. all the tutorials I've found are of girls with EXTREMELY long hair using this method and i needed to see it on a girl with shorter hair. tysm!
Seldom did I ever like my hair after I left a salon. Fast forward to my 30's and 40s, and I gradually did more and more of the cutting myself. When covid hit and we were all at home, I totally quit any salon trips and have never been back. I always, always cut it myself now and use this unicorn type of haircut plan. It works every time, and I am now 72 with thinning, blonde going gray wavy, curly hair.
Grew up with straight hair standards, had straight hair cuts, was under pressure to style my hair to straight hair styles. I wish all my hair stylists who cut my curly hair so far would have cut and layered it like you did. Can't wait to grow my short curly hair long enough to finally start cutting it by myself. 👏🏼❣️
After literally all my life of paying for something that never like when I go to the salon, I finally decided to try it. OMG! I loved it! 😍👍🏻 I just did exactly what she said. Step by step and the results where amazing. Must mention that I did my research and bought myself some good scissors before doing anything and took all the time I needed before cutting each layer. Thank you so much! I’ll be saving myself a lot of money and let my curls loose! 😁
Haven’t had a hair cut in over a year because of the last one I received. 😭 Definitely trying this!! Thanks!! Ok my best friend assisted me with this today. It looks awesome!! Thank you. I think this is the first hair cut I’ve ever had where I wasn’t upset.
Thank you! I have long, curly hair that was getting fairy knots and dried ends. Something had to be done and we're in lockdown. Tried this today and super happy! I would not have figured out how to do my layers by myself!
Hello, I searched for basic cutting curly hair and yours is the most "straight forward". Easy to understand and not complicated. Thank you from Canada !
Hair trust issues.... YES. I've been stalking hairstylist profiles in my city FOR MONTHS... trying to find one that looks and "feels" like a trustworthy soul.. something in their eyes i could believe in maybe... the angst! I appreciate this detailed and what i consider 'enhanced unicorn method' demo.. thanks :) I'm gonna cut my own damn hair.
Stephanie deBruijn very interesting! I have to cut my hair dry. The hair underneath isna totally different texture and curl pattern - it's very coarse and curly and the hair near my ears are very soft and loosely wavy! If I cut it the same it would be so uneven haha! Great video ! Seems a lot easier to do it this way x
Hi I have cut my own hair using the poneytail method for years. I never did it using the sectioning technique that you use. Tried it a few days ago and it turned out fabulous! I'm deathly afraid of hairdressers! Thank You!
Followed your directions this morning and couldn't be happier. Far superior results to just a ponytail at the top of the head I'd been using previously - I'd of never thought of this on my own! Thank you.
My goodness, thank you for this tutorial. I've been cutting my own hair for years because stylist always mess up in some way. Thank you so much! I was able to follow and trim all my ends as well in an easy layer way.
Omg I am so trying this today! I have hairdresser trust issues and curly salons are so over priced! Saving this video to use every six weeks. Thank you so much!
Fantastic ...you do an amazing job showing us how to do this... I don't trust people with my hair either I feel like they will chop it all off.. will watch it a few times to see if I can do it as well as you do. Thanks a bunch!!!
OMG I'm definitely going to try this!! The last time I went to get a cut the hairdressers didn't understand how my hair was and they cut some WACK layers.
This is a great video! Exactly what i was looking for! Ive seen other unicorn cut videos but they only did the one long cut and done. I was looking for a way to create even more layers using the same method and I’m so happy i found your video! Your hair came out gorgeous!
You just gave me an idea. I want more layers too ... So it sits higher because if too long, I lose curl, gain wave. This cut is pro level! Idea?... add MORE layers!
Woooow....I've been wanting to cut my hair like this for so long...I never get what I want at the salon...so I just trim it myself...but this is the look I've been wanting! Thank you so much!
I did this the other day and I'm really happy with the result. I wear my hair slightly more over to one side, ao the side with a bit less needed a little trimming here and there for layers but this is a brilliant tutorial. Using it from now on.
Thank you so much for this fabulous tutorial. I have watched many unicorn cuts at this point on utube but your video is easily the best. I am trying it for my next trim. Just fed up with not liking the salon cuts. ❤️❤️
I'm going to try this when I wash my hair this week. I've tried the regular "unicorn" cut and it made my hair this weird diamond shape. Thankfully I didn't cut too much and I still want my hair a few inches shorter
definitely gonna try it ,I did cut some layers yesterday but it didn't came out as I wanted because I cutted only the first layer soo I'm gonna try again with this method 💕
I like that. "Hair trust issues". I thought I'm a freak of nature. You and I have the same hair. Mine is twice as thick and twice as long. I love the video. I will try it.
Maaaan.Thank you for this!💕 Being all the way here in Egypt where we don’t really have a lot of hairdressers that deal with curly hair and the ones that do are soooo expensive.
Hey doll... im doing this tonight because im too scared to let the hairdressers do it.. ive got wavy hair so still should come out good 🤞 thanks for the great info 💜
I really want to cut my hair in layers by myself but last time I cut it (years ago) I did it in a normal salon where they cut it just as they do for straight hair. The result is that now I have just two big layers with a huge difference between them and I hate it. My doubt it's if this cut will work for me anyway or I need a sort even cut before I try it.
I have been watching lots of unicorn cut videos but love your video the best! I have a question though re the second, third and ongoing cuts. Most videos show cutting the second cut in an angle and not straight across as you do. What is the difference with the angle vs straight cut? I hope that makes sense. Any thoughts? Thank you.
So your suppose to cut the same amount off for each layer ?? That’s where I made mistake and ended up with a box cut . My first cut I cut the most Off and then the other 2 Part less . And it looked so bad
can you upload a video on how to grow curly hair? and I thought it was best to cut it dry so you can have even curly cuts since it’s in its natural state
Alyson Jackson I'll prob do a video on growth in the next few months :) I've always cut my hair wet because I feel it would be very difficult to have even hair cutting your own dry curls. It has worked for me but that's just my personal opinion!
Hi! I'm giving this haircut a try, your video is a great guide! I just wanted to ask: How should I proceed in case I wanted to cut the length of my hair, not only the layers? My hair is not as long as yours and it wouldn't get caught with the first ponytail, but I want to cut a bit of it. Thanks!
Omg.. Out of all the diy curly hair cuts..yours is the only one that makes sense..thank you so much
Agreed! Now the process seems so doable!

Out of the tons of videos I watched for cutting my curls this was by far the most helpful. Thank you.
I'm so glad!

Hi! I'm planning on trying this out on myself soon and need to buy some good scissors. Can I ask which ones you bought? Thank you!
In 2020, during COVID, this is sanity-saving advice!
Thanks so much for posting this. I tried it on my curly hair and it’s the best haircut I’ve had in 20 years!
Great to hear!
Haven’t had a hair cut in over a year because of the last one I received. 😭 Definitely trying this!! Thanks!!

Well, thank you! You're the only one I found with multiple layers who made me feel like I can actually do this.
So did you try it?
Watching during Covid-19 thank you for your help xx
Same girl, week 7... or 8? and it’s time
Did it work??

I feel you! My stylist moved out of state six years ago and I'm still trying to find a good one! I drive the 400 miles every year or so still!

Omg I am so trying this today! I have hairdresser trust issues and curly salons are so over priced! Saving this video to use every six weeks. Thank you so much!
Your tutorial is by far the best!!! Thankyou so much you have saved me 💐.

Hello from a new subscriber in San Antonio! This video was very helpful and 8 look forward to watching more of your videos.

Great video. Your hair looks pretty. What hair products did you use. Enjoy your weekend
you have beautiful hair!
How often do you trim your hair like this? And did this give you laters in the back too?
So helpful !
You're a pro !!!
can you upload a video on how to grow curly hair? and I thought it was best to cut it dry so you can have even curly cuts since it’s in its natural state
Alyson Jackson I'll prob do a video on growth in the next few months :) I've always cut my hair wet because I feel it would be very difficult to have even hair cutting your own dry curls. It has worked for me but that's just my personal opinion!
How do you avoid the V shape?
Great video👍❤️
Great video thanks for sharing ❤️🇵🇷
Only thing I don't like is the V shape. Other than that it looks nice.
Great video
This is great, thank you
And I’m off to cut my hair!
THANKS Going to do myself
Did anyone try this if so how did it turn out?
Hi! I'm giving this haircut a try, your video is a great guide! I just wanted to ask: How should I proceed in case I wanted to cut the length of my hair, not only the layers? My hair is not as long as yours and it wouldn't get caught with the first ponytail, but I want to cut a bit of it. Thanks!
Karmele Luqui Did it turn out good? I want to try this but I’m a bit scared😅
