Andy Wood took a meandering path to the hallowed halls of rock guitar Valhalla. Try not to hold this against him, but he didn't even pick up an electric guitar until he was eighteen years old! Before he reached voting age, Andy lived in the world of bluegrass. Something of a mandolin prodigy, Andy spent much of his childhood touring the bluegrass circuit and competing in bluegrass competitions with his grandfather and cousin. His furious flatpicking skills earned him second place in the World Championship Mandolin Contest at the tender age of sixteen.
A world of bluegrass stardom awaited Andy, but at age eighteen he found himself drawn to the dark side by that insidious temptress called rock and roll. After studying the technique of country masters like Albert Lee for a few years, Andy dove right into the world of shred guitar. After absorbing the technique and flair of players like Steve Morse, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, and Joe Satriani, Andy found himself drawn to the fiery forge of musical competition once again. This time, he won a contest called Guitarmageddon, and he was off to the races. He founded a successful band called Down From Up, put out a couple of incredible solo records, and worked as a sideman for an illustrious list of artists including Scott Stapp, Sebastian Bach, and Rascal Flatts. Over time, he developed a unique voice that combines the techniques and sensibilities of bluegrass with a shredding attitude and a harmonic vocabulary that borrows heavily from fusion.
It's only natural that such an accomplished player would partner with a forward-thinking company like Suhr, and we are pleased to present the delectable fruits of their collaboration: the Andy Wood Signature Modern T. There's a lot going on with this guitar, but let's start with the most eye-popping appointment: the finish! Before the builders at Suhr apply a satin finish to each swamp ash body, they take a blowtorch to the wood! This doesn't really do much of anything to the tone, but it does give these Modern Ts a heaping dose of visual voodoo and rustic mojo!

I've been watching Greg for years and this is maybe the best I've ever seen from him- just mind-blowing. i swear he just keeps getting better and better, which is amazing considering how incredible he's been for decades.
This is some of the sickest playing I’ve ever seen. As usual... holy shit
Greg killin it per usual 🤯
Great as always.
Please, another outtakes compilation!!
Greg should review ALL the teles on the interweb
His style is " hi speed wobble". Super talented guitarist!!
Just me or is Greg really connecting with that guitar
Lovely looking and sounding beast.
Ridiculous display of nonchalant awesomeness
Greg could make an old ditch stick strung with 10lb test sound good. Hard to get a real gauge on his this would sound in my schlub hands, other than not being worthy to do even hold.
Greg is among the top 5 greatest guitarists and doesnt have a Suhr Signature???
Nice sounding guitar. Is "squish" Kocherese for indicating that the pickup has a low output?
The suhr woodshed pickups are quite low output
I dont know why, but every time he plays a guitar, I feel like the guitar is too small for him...and interestly he wont accidently touch other strings when playing...cool..
Because Greg is huge! This is the reason his signature Reverend has a larger body than other guitars.
Just watched it again and I dont know what just happened. Some MIT or GIT scientists need to a study it and figure it out. Their are things happening their that defy known physics properties.
Is it weird to hate country but love chickin’ pickin’?
What’s the radius up high?
DogDaze66 16 inch Radius straight across
Beautiful body!
Suhr doesn't do it for me. Uncanny valley telecaster. Too similar to a fender id rather have the right thing or something that actually offers something different. Like Greg's Reverend. Oh well I'm not gonna buy any of them I'm no tele guy
i owned 2 suhrs they are modern versions fender kills them for them classic tones
Fender has caught back up with suhr. With the pro and Ultra Series. But not everybody wants a perfect Telecaster. That's not what they are about.
Sadly the Reverends are Indonesian, Greg deserves a signature USA model
So unfortunate to see a better guitar player demonstrating another average player's signature guitar model.
Greg is just way better and free than Andy wood any day.
What an ignorant comment. Have you ever seen Andy Wood play? The dude is one of the most versatile guitarists alive.
@@somethingbl I can play like Andy but I can't play like Greg
@@OshoShakti There are a bunch of Wildwood videos of Andy and Greg playing together. Andy holds his own no problem. Andy can play country and chickin-pickin' and was a country music child prodigy. I'd say he can play more of Greg's stuff than Greg can play his. Andy can full on shred when he wants to. Check out Shredneck.
Osho Shakti I totally disagree
@@OshoShakti that's laughable. I watched your video and clearly, you can't play like either. You are way out of your league thinking you can play like Andy. Clearly shows you have no idea how diverse Andy is and how great he is. As @jessejoej stated your comment is ignorant. Wow, I can't get over how you think you can play Andy. I suppose your signature model will be out soon? Lol. Don't think we will see that anytime soon.
