The unscripted approach is what’s fun and real about your channel. Plus you read boss-ass books. Notes can derail enthusiasm….The Nose is hilarious. Kafka is a comic genius. 🎉Cheers to you!
Thank you!! This is encouraging :)
reading in the shower is unhinged and i admire that
desi? i love coming across desis in the coolest places on the internet
Gurll , your beauty is otherworldly 💋
Thank you so much 🥹
I REALLY fw the way you describe the books. Just added all of these to my kindle! good looks ❤🙏
Ayeee thank you so much 🤩
ok mother thanks for the recs
100 years of solitude is one of my favorite books wish i knew spanish would be incredible to read the original. Love the video and your taste in books 💞
Thank you so much ☺️☺️☺️
Real magicalism-thanks, as always.
😁
1Q84 is my favourite trilogy ever! I read it 2 years ago and it has been the standard for all long, weird stories since!! Would highly recommend
Adding all of these to my TBR, I need them asap! I have the same reasons why I read, I love disoriented insane otherworldly books. Ahh such cool recommendations! 😻(Also editing my comment now) Can't wait to pick up Still Life with Woodpecker, it sounds so good.
I hope you love it !!!
love loveeee murakami kafka on the shore is incredible
🙌🙌
Loved this idea-North Woods sounds like a really cool read
It definitely is! If you read it lmk what you think :)
"Blizzard" sounds really interesting and I've never heard about it before!
Thanks Valentina, I enjoyed the video. Definitely going to check out The Blizzard, I'm a sucker for books set in cold climates.....Darkmans by Nicola Barker has definitely got some otherworldly vibes, it's a strange book but I loved it.
The Blizzard and Master and Man left me chilled to the bone… enjoy. And thanks for the rec 🙌
@@bookpogo I did not expect master and man to make me so emotional 😭 i gotta read the blizzard for sure
I started reading Piranesi and stopped bcs I was trying so hard to understand what was going on loll. I’m going to try it again with ur philosophy on reading this type of book in mind !
Yes! I completely understand… just surrender to it
Great video. Dont know if you have heard of Donald Barthelme, but his "Sixty Stories" collection really changed my perspective on what you can do with writing. Whimsical, fun, abstract, and meloncholic all at once
I have not but now that Im into short stories I’m excited to check that out
@@bookpogoi hope you do! I would think you would get a kick out of him but i know he is pretty devisive so would love to hear your thoughts either way
I need to read Gogol's novel "Dead Souls" to completion. In my reading he was straight on the nose satire in his stories, much different from Kafka. No one who is familiar with Ellis will be surprised by the (some would say non-)ending of "Lunar Park." Don't overworry about giving endings away and such, I think you should continue in your unruly style that is uniquely yours.
Dead Souls is high on my list. And the Lunar Park thing is very true haha. Thank you for your kind comment as always :)
I like the Tom Robbins book cover. I also like its yellow pages. I bet they smell sumptuous.
Great word lol
They do indeed
Great list. I feel like Gogol anticipates Kafka. They seem to have similar concerns and imagination.
kween ty for this wonderful lineup of books.
big oof! i'm sensing a major Murakami revival and i think i might do 1Q84 sometime in the near future!
have not heard of Blue Lard or The Blizzard! will be looking into them 👀
also have you done If on a Winter's Night a Traveler? i think you might enjoy that Calvino!
I feel like I’m due for a 1Q84 reread for real. If you haven’t read it yet, im sure it will blow you away. Honestly I’m expecting that same feeling on the reread haha. Sorokin is such a sick literary figure, pissing off ppl in Russia writing insane shit that’s soooo good. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts if you do read any of his work!!! Also I have not, but thank you for the rec bc I’ve been wanting to read more Calvino but didnt know what to pick up next 😊🙌
@@bookpogo i read it ages ago, lugged it between paris and tokyo and even went to the park mentioned in the book (where they both look up at the moon)! titular moment in me life!!!
i feel like atm i'm entering a similar state in which both characters roam atm so that's why i want to reread it! and also if i find anything new in another reading.
russian lit is INSANE! truly need to read more!!!
I want to re-read The Shards even though i’ve read it four months ago. Some books never really leave you, and I don’t know how long on should wait until reading them again 😄
lol for reference I read it in November 2023 and I’m rereading it atm. When it calls to you it calls to you
Lunar Park has a similar dark vibe..if ya havnt read it...kind of a ghost story..
I'm adding The Nose to my tbr. Reminds me of Kafka.
I hope you enjoy! I’m sure you will if you like Kafka
Magical realism or speculative fiction are term that are used that are fiction but have some other worldly elements
Terms*
You would love The Visit by Friedrich Dürrenmatt if you haven't read it already. Love your vids btw!
I have not but it’s now on my tbr 😁 and thank you :)) I really appreciate it
Hey Valentina,
I am in a long reading slump.
Do you have some really great page turner recs?
Hi! The Art Thief by Michael Finkel comes to mind, as it is short, exciting, and nonfiction. I personally, could not get enough and still read about the case and the thief to this day hahaha. Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem was a page turner for me too. I hope this helps :)
Ever read the perfume by Patrick suskind? It’s amazing highly recommend it
Yesss read it last month and absolutely loved it 🤓🙌
It wasn't vague at all! You are very articulate and fun. You really don't need the notes.
Thank you!!!! I really appreciate that
bro are you the girl that has red converse?
@@harsheh I do not own converse haha
@@bookpogo ohk lmfao i mistook you for someone else 😭
@@harsheh now im curious
22:05 Laughed out loud but yes !! so true
You have some really good ideas. Do you think that if you imagine something, it starts to exist? Thanks to just your imagination?
Yes and no… I’m not sure haha. But thank you!

Do you read after you smoke?
Hell yes. But I don’t always smoke before I read
Wtf ym read it in the shower?!
Wym you haven’t read a book so riveting you have to continue reading while your conditioner does its job??
@@bookpogo it gets wet!!!!
@@peantud12 that’s okay!
