As long as yout up front about the shipping, I understand it's not free for you. I have no problem with paying a legitimate shipping fee. I also try to find local snakes to avoid shipping
Some people do not like negotiating, and they will pass on you and go to another seller because they’re offering free shipping from the start
You might be right, but that hasn't been my experience. If someone walks away from a snake solely because of shipping costs, they were likely not a serious buyer to begin with.
Morph Market's platform may have normalized negotiating to some extent, and I've personally never had someone back out over shipping. I've completed over 300 online sales with my policy in place since the beginning and haven't encountered this issue.
I'm curious if you have any concrete data or examples to support your claim, as it seems like you're presenting a lot of hypothetical scenarios.

When it comes to asking for free shipping or other negotiating, I think you really need to look at it from the perspective of "Do I just want a snake or do I want to build a relationship?".
As a general rule, I don't ask for any sort of discount if it's my first purchase from a breeder (unless buying multiple animals in my first purchase), nor ask for payment plans- you have to think about what kind of message you're sending to the person you're doing business with. If an animal is already on sale, asking for a further discount or a payment plan is just an insult imo and gives the impression that you don't value their time or work.

If I had 20 people who are interested in $1000 snakes and I had to ship them for free, I would rather lose out on the 10% and ship them for free then to have 20 snakes in my inventory that I have to feed and lose more profit
You must be rolling in dough if you're OK with tossing away $2,000 just like that! That's a mortgage payment for a lot of people!
You’re losing more money holding that snake in your inventory then to ship it out for free. Unless the demand is that high, you don’t want to put all that time and effort and marketing just to lose a sale over negotiating free shipping for a $1000 snake.
It takes a long time to lose $100 holding onto a snake. A hatchling costs maybe $5/mo to feed, and your equipment is being powered anyways. It would take almost 2 years to lose $100 by keeping that animal rather than just giving away $100 up front. At that point it's probably breeding size and may even make you more money.
Thats why businesses include credit charges and their costs in the price
