In my country ,Sri Lanka we have a Bacopa species called Bacopa monnieri. Not only its an amazing aquatic plant but also it is a medicinal plant in Sri Lankan traditional medicine.

I Had Bacoba in a pot with water iris in my pond outdoors. When rearranging pond I removed that pot and sat it in garden inside a container which held water most of the year. Then I forgot about it. 2 weeks ago upon discovering it growing out of water I I cut 6 inch long stems that were trailing over pot. I now have stems growing crazy in all of my 6 tanks. I love the light green colour that contrasts so well with other plants making the fish look more fabulous. Thank you for this video. Now I am able to put a name to my plant

Thank you Joanna for another great video, but you got my appetite whetted when you said it grows in the garden also. I am pretty new with aquatic plants and am learning slowly. I love crypts and annubias because of their ease and the way they look. I would have liked to have seen side by side examples of both the emmersed and immersed examples of the bacopa that you mentioned. Also show how to trim and how the plant grows after trimming. Does it continue to grow singularly from the same stem or does it sprout 2 new stems. Also what type of fertilizer is best, liquid or root tabs? Could you possibly do a follow up video? Your videos are so instructional don't be afraid to let them stretch to 12 minutes or so.

Thank you for this information! I've been frustrated with some tissue culture bacopa that I got from PetSmart several months ago - I think I've gotten about 4 new leaves total from about 8 stems in the last 3 months when my other plants are growing fine... Possibly due to my super-soft low-mineral water?... Going to try floating it after watching this and also trying it in my "hard water tank" with Equilibrium (GuppyVille) to see if it does better. Never been able to grow anything "out of water" so love this channel to try to learn new skills!

I need to thin them out and donate to others because there's very little room for the fish to swim in. My question is I purchased some small dragon rocks from a local fish store and one rock is darker than the rest so will soaking in a bleach solution lighten the color? Of course I afterwards I would soak the bleached rock in plain tap water with chlorine remover added. Thanks, Dan

That’s too bad. You could always trim and see if they rebound. It is baffling though...

I have 2 tanks and the Moneywort bacopa I have grows best in the one with the harder water. So if you have soft water maybe add some extra ferts/ minerals?

I got Bacopa as a floater, but it just slowly melted away; never growing any roots :(

I love bacopa but I can't seem to stop it melting. 🤔

I read it needs a lot of iron. Mine also melted very often, but now I put iron sticks close to the roots and they do so much better🙂.

@@Ekster77 Thanks for the tip! I use a good quality feed, so I'm wondering if light levels may have been an issue too. 🤔

@@MusingsFromTheDen you're welcome🙂. I have a nano aquarium with led-light. Usually nano tanks do not have the best of light so I imagine that will be the case with my light as well. Don't know about your light? I do shorten the stems every month, because the lower leaves do not get enough light in my set up and therefore they tend to hang down a bit.

This was my 1st plant and is still going, not thriving, but going. Added another one recently, put in root tab and Ez Green and the stems turned brown within a week and pulled out of the substrate and floated till I threw it out. Waste of money.
