My 10 month old kitten just adores your videos. A month ago I got some video of chipmunks and showed it to her - she went nuts over them, so I looked around YT and found Squirrels at the Window. Now she won't let me use my tablet unless we watch at least one episode first. She just sits there and chirps at them and watches happily. When Kiara first appeared she immediately began talking to her, and does this every time she appears. The best part is that I enjoy your videos too, so my cat and I can sit and enjoy the same shows! Thanks so much for making these excellent videos.😃
I live in a woods ( ok mountains) and my cats chase the squirrels but I think at times the squirrels chase them or at least swing through the trees tormenting the cats.😊🐿🐿🐿🐈🐈🐈.and my three kittens, " about 3 months old " just discovered a turtle🐢 the other day. They looked at me like big daddy this rock is moving!. I have 3-4 deer that come up every night to eat bird seed and my cats go out say hi and play around them and the deer don't mind they just eat.😊😊😊
Lots of cats can do that. My cats were really good friends with some guinea pigs at some point. As long as the cat doesn't see the other animal as prey they can be friends 😊 doesn't always work though.
I have squirrels that feed on my porch. I love the tame ones especially the one that looks at you. Mine will not be friendly as I have tried with a midget one. He is Almost tame, but runs up his tree. I don't have a window like you have. Love your little family
Kiara seems like such a gentle kitty. She’s probably just an intrigued by Rico and the squirrels as they are by her ❤. Not every animal-species interaction has to be deemed as ‘predator vs the prey’. This. This is pure genuine animal spirit. Thank you for this!
It is so heartwarming to see another cat that is a lover and not a fighter. My cat is very similar. She is curious about birds, butterflies, bugs, squirrels and lizards but she won't hurt them. They seem to realize this and just hang out with her. It's very common to see her hanging out with her friend the skink. I am an animal lover and am so grateful that you are making videos like this that educate people on squirrels and show your experiences with them.
Given Rico’s obvious recent history with predators, he’s clearly feeling remarkably brave & sure of himself to be so bold with Kiara 👏🏻 I love how casual Hodary was about her ‘close encounter’ too 😂 It’s amazing to see the effect your calming presence has on animals, wild and domestic alike. It’s also a lovely reminder that the world doesn’t always have to be such a harsh & confrontational place as humans often seem to make it. As ever, a lovely snapshot from the lives of your beautiful fluffy visitors. Thank you for showering them with kindness & sharing the results with all of us 🤗♥️🐿
Thank you, both. It just really is a relief to see something so calm & harmonious after endless news cycles of chaos, conflict & political discord, not to mention a sobering revelation that even a cat & a squirrel can be peacefully inquisitive & tolerant towards each other, when so often people just can’t with their own kind. Channels like this truly showcase the best of human nature & highlight what joys exist in the natural world, right outside our windows. But Squirrels At The Window is a particularly fine example 😂😉
So impressed with your cat. They have a such a high prey drive. I don't think any of my cats would be squirrel friendly but she probably senses that they're part of the pack.
🥰 Kiara is so nice! It's hard for us to imagine how difficult it is for cats (or any other natural predator) to temper their primary, feline instincts. Squirrels are quick, and cats' neurological reflexes make them focus very specifically on fast motion... She is so patient 😊 The squirrels are incredibly relaxed 😄 This is so cute!
I thought the same thing. I wonder if the way she introduced them will cause the cat not to see them as prey? There are plenty of cats that live with small critters in the house with them, so maybe they will be friends?
@@zeus6793 They sure can be! One of my cat befriended lovebirds 😂Despite how noisy those were, she could have very long naps right on their cage, and she would not chase them when flying freely (even if the wing noises and rapid motion did trigger focus with those huge cats' pupils 🐱😂). Instincts are not everything, there is a huge part of (maternal) training too: kittens have the ability to play (which can be dangerous, as is, to smaller animals) but they definitely need to learn how to hunt, even if they can self-train with time. Plus, cats are very cautious by nature (predators AND preys at the same time) so they tend to be careful when facing new situations/creatures, even small ones. They can always have a wrong reflex (try to catch, etc.) but basically as soon as they have integrated that this or that creature is not a danger nor a prey, they will at worst ignore it, at best behave friendly ☺
@@phalstar Would be interesting for sure! There are some clues in the video (Kiara is being hold/petted regularily... anything that can help her not to switch to the "I want to grab that thing" mode is good 👍
It's an amazing sign of how much the bushytails trust you that they would come anywhere close to a kitty. And Kiara is really restraining that natural curiosity - a sign that she want's *you* to be happy. Just a beautiful situation: Peace In Our Time!
Squirrels trust you so they trust Kiara! Also Rico is smitten, but unsure what his squirrel buddies would say about a "cat girlfriend" Excellent footage.
Great job, Rico!! Most squirrels in my area would run & start making warning noises for other squirrels to be alert. Rico was such a gentleman with Kiara.
That’s absolutely amazing that Kiara doesn’t try to go after the squirrels! You have so much patience in letting Kiara and the squirrels get used to one another. Thank you for doing so…I love watching their reactions! It won’t be long until Rico gives Kiara a little kiss! 😘 Have a wonderful day and week! 💗🥰
Wow, my heart skipped a beat now and then during that! ……Kiara is so well behaved, I really hope (I’m sure they will) they get along with each other, it’s lovely to see them together…..thank you for another lovely video xx❤xx
2 months ago, when it was a nice day, I opened my balcony door(screen closed) to let the fresh air flow in. I had some nuts on the ledge, and on the ground. My cat PJ was also at the door. A squirrel came down to ground level to get a nut. It came to screen and practically gave PJ a kiss. PJ didn't flinch. He apparently found his new friend.
For those whom don't know, that thing that Rico was doing with putting their tail over themself? That's a defensive tactic, and one things is they'll heat-up their tail for altering their profile. (Snakes with their thermal detection, for instance.)
Thank you and Kiara and also the Squirell Gang to brighten my day. In These Strange and frightening Times it is wonderful to See such lovely Videos. Have a good and lovely Day ❤.
*_So cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!_* A perfect addition would have been Michael Bolton's "When a Man Loves a Woman" playing during that slow-mo. 🥰😂
Maybe get a kitty harness for back up. I know you her. But cats be fast. 😂❤
Yes, a kitty harness might be a good idea.
Oh my, we are really pushing the boundary now with close encounters between squirrel and cat. The suspense continues...
Close encounters of the squirrel kind.😂
Well this is something I didn't think I'd ever see. Both a squirrel getting that close and a cat holding back that much. Absolutely wild.

Ok, I want videos of this!
Ok, that's really wholesome. Bought a big smile to my face. Thanks for sharing. 😊
I am amazed that she doesn't chase them!
I am absolutely amazed that wild squirrels will approach a cat in any circumstance. Wow!
Look how fluffy the tail gets. So cute
The squirrels are so brave, especially Rico ❤

That was an AMAZING SEQUENCE to watch! Rico was very Alpha brave and your kitty was well trained 👏 to behave towards your Squirrel friends.
Rico is so curious! How sweet to see the squirrels trying to meet the cat nicely ❤🐱🐿❤
I agree :)
I agree with you too.
Had one come inside our old house, my dad saw it hopped right in and it later went out, most likely to feel the carpet.

She’s surprisingly mellow nose-to-nose with a wild animal.
Rico is a brave boy. And Kiara is soooo good ❤
I always like it when Rico shows up, and I’m glad he has reclaimed his title of Alpha Squirrel 🐿️
Rico amazes me, he is an example! He's been through many hard times and he never gave up, but became stronger. 🐿️❤️

Rico looks at Kiara like he's enchanted by the fact she exists. Such a sweet family! I hope they get to kiss soon.
Pearl and Earl the squirrel. 😊👍 The next squirrel should be named Merle. 😁

Actually, a cat is a predator by nature, it can kill a mouse or even a rat...

That little face is pricelessly adorable. How could you not love it?
Wow!! I can't believe my eyes, how close they get! Kiara is so calm, and watches them even in the parking lot 😊
I absolutely loved this ,Rico wanted to give Kiara a welcome kiss. She is so well behaved, she is going to make lots of new friends😊
