    My aunt bought the ice cream lock to stop my uncle eating all the ice cream...let's just say there was an angry Scotsman at 3am

    A problem with the ice cream lock is that the container is weaker than the lock. If desperate enough, it won't take much to cut the other end off and start eating.

      Justin Archambeau it won't stop the ruthless ice cream pirates, but those trying to quietly sneak a spoonful will probably be deterred ;)

      Justin Archambeau well... the idea is to keep away those who eats without asking if you want, but anyway, if you really want the I.C. you'll find a way

      thàt was my first thought. just slice the bottom. ive actually seen a couple hacks to slice the icecream from the bottom so you can portion control for kids and you dont have to wait for a bit to scoop out. hope that makes sense.

      Katie Stormer so many people jump to the conclusion that these gadgets are purely for lazy people, but as the saying goes "necessity is the mother of invention", these things wouldn't be getting invented and marketed if people didn't need them, these things got invented because someone somewhere said "I find this really hard, I wish they'd design something to make it easier". I have worked with people with disabilities for many years and we use a lot of these gadgets, they really do help people maintain their independence

    That can opener is just what I was looking for, I was dx'd with MS 3 years ago and due to my hands becoming an unpredictable mess I've pretty much had to swear off tinned food as getting into it is way too dangerous! I still have some strength, but incredibly poor precision. Anyway I've ordered one just now so we'll see if tins of beans and tuna are back on the menu :) Thanks Barry!

  • @Margar02
    @Margar02 8 років тому +6

    Barry, the reason your butter afro isn't working is because you ALWAYS use a stupidly huge glob, which cools itself back together. just get a nice modest scraping, like for half the bread, smear it, get another scrape, and you'll be golden. just raise the butter up to a few millimeters,an, not a huge chunk!
    LMAO @ 19 m! Glad I'm not the only one who says vaguely immature non-sequitur words at my pet. They looked so enthused.

  • @AlottaBoulchit
    @AlottaBoulchit 8 років тому +17

    Why are those weenies in a jar? Is that how they come over there? I've only seen em in plastic bags. hehe
    I actually have that avocado knife. I used it a few times and it's such a pain but still I kinda like it. I prefer my avocados cut nicely so if I need sliced avocado I'd use my own methods but if I just need smashed avocado for when making guacamole or 'green sauce' I love the ease of one device. The seed popper is very nice. I once almost cut off my left pinkie at the base trying to pull the seed out of an avocado. the knife slipped right out and gashed me to hell and back. my finger hurts just thinking about it. So having a device to pop that out for me without fear is welcomed. lol
    And I think the issue with your butter foamer is you're pulling out too much and too soon. maybe do it right before buttering or smear the butter straight from the device instead of pulling it off with a knife might work better!

    I have been thinking about that butter foamer thingy! You know what that would be perfect for.. pie crust! The hack where you grate frozen butter directly into flour for crusts, actually works. I haven't gone back to cubed butter since I've tried that. It saves a ton of time. The main thing you have to remember is to stir in the butter as you go, so it doesn't clump back up.

    • @AlottaBoulchit

    • @Silentgrace11
      @Silentgrace11 8 років тому +3

      I think it's meant to deter folks who just wanted to discretely eat out of the ice cream. I'd cut it open just to spite them, but if I was aiming to just eat a few bites I wouldn't bother cutting the whole thing open just for that.

    • @mixxling
      @mixxling 8 років тому +15

      This is so it can't be sneaked. If it's been cut open, you KNOW someone took some, but if they've just taken the lid off and had a few cheeky bites, they might try to claim they've not had any, and you're imagining it.

    Best way to have easy-to-spread butter? Leave it at room temperature. It doesn't spoil as quickly as people think.
    That can opener was just incredibly useless.
    You can just buy canned or frozen corn.

      Ours come in various sealed bags from the chiller or fresh from the deli. They are much firmer and have a form of casing on them, and they are always kept chilled in the fridge. perhaps dry your wieners and chill them down before trying to torture them.
