Yes Sir, I have three guns in the 300 BLK. Two AR that I built and one Ruger American Ranch. Fun guns to shoot and hunt with. The last buck I took was with the 300 Blk Out.

@@chriswhorror6658 Chris in reference to what I used to shoot the deer with it was a Ruger American Ranch with a suppressor on it. I think those ar 16.5 inch barrels. The ARs one is a 16 inch and the other is a 10.5 inch. I hope this helps.

300 BLK is incredibly hard to come by here in Germany right now. Used to shoot the vortx for roe deer but this season will switch to S&B Exergy Blue - almost identical to the Vortx at little over half the price 👍

I would like to make a slight suggestion for your next bullet comparison video. Have a chronograph so that you can show what the velocity spread is between the shots. Vertical dispersion is due to velocity differences. Left and right dispersion is due to firearm movement and wind. Also a 5 shot group give you a better average performance of the rounds.

I have store bought 300blk, but the vast majority of my supply I loaded with 115gr soft points and 125gr fmj and they turn in sub moa groups out of either of my 300blk weapons. Took two deer and six hogs between them. Good enough for me. Building up enough to enjoy a range day or hog hunt is a serious challenge nowadays.

Thats awesome, I have been saying 300BLK is more "lethal" even when going against 5.56 with a longer barrel.
Say 9" 300BLK dumps xy foot pounds
And 11.5 or 14.5 5.56 dumps the same foot pounds on target
I believe the 300 BLK is more lethal due to diameter with modern expanding bullets such as Barnes Tac-TX.

  • @legacyri3995
    @legacyri3995 2 роки тому

Something I love about your video, that I haven't seen any mention (perhaps I haven't read far enough) is how your groups show the consistency of the weight affects on the rise or drop of the bullet. Really helps me choose what ammo I'm looking for. For example, your 110gr ammo started dropping below the penny target by 100 yards since it was so light. 150gr was slightly high for distance trajectory. And 125gr was pretty much on par with the distance and penny size dot. That's fantastic information. Tells me what grains I want to look for in what applications. Obviously gun, barrel quality and other factors can affect certain groups. But seeing the consistency of bullet drop or rise when considering the weight really helps. Thank you for doing this video. Gives me something to build my choices from. 👍

The Defiant load is made with a Maker T-REX bullet... I like that bullet more than any other.
I shoot an 85gr bullet that's moving out at a M.V. of +/- about 2,500fps without any pressure issues with a 5R rifled ultralight profile barrel.
It's a Coyote crackin', Deer dumpin', Hog hittin' little bam stick...
It's not just for 100 yards either... I have poked coyotes out to probably 250+yds with it at night
before with it when I was in the mood to carry something that was a bit more light weight that some other calibers. You can REALLY hear it THUMP when that .30 caliber hits a Pasture 🐩
Poodle that's more than about 75 or 100yds away from you... One of the best sounds ever!!!

Have nearly everything for my first 300 BLK build (and first custom AR build of any caliber), including several types of ammo for this very same type of test (including a couple of the same ammo types like the Federal American Eagle and Frontier). Only waiting on the proper barrel nut socket to torque it down and get everything on the upper assembled! Can't wait to take it out to the range once it's done.
One funny observation I had with your video--how *immediately* noticeable the larger holes are vs. .223 lol (I mean duh, but just saying). Also, I'll be interested in seeing what differences I'll have with my barrel--I have a 7.5" 1:5 twist barrel vs your 16" barrel which I assume is either 1:7 or 1:8. I wanted the 1:5 twist because I do plan on running subs and I've read how that twist rate is more accurate when you have a shorter barrel like mine.

Friendly advice from one who knows...try and train yourself NOT to blink when you pull the trigger:) Given how well you shoot now, you'll be impressed with your performance improvement :) thumbs up. Practice by taking your videos of your face and try shooting a 22lr till you get the hang of it, then move up to bigger calibers. Just so you know,
A LOT if not MOST of the .375 and up guys blink like crazy LOL, but the best snipers in the world can handle the .338 Lapua, and a few, even the heavily modified (to reduce recoil) 50 cal's, quite literally, "without batting an eye". Great fun channel :)

You should do a penetration test with the subsonics. I was blown away at the results I got. In aolid oak, I was getting 11" - 12" of penetration. 5.56 was just 4" at best.

American Eagle does great in my 300AAC rifles and consistently performs across 3 or 4 different cartridge calibers (223, 6.5 Grendel...). Kudos to Federal for being affordable and high quality! The Federal Fusion 150 Grain is even better! 300 Blackout is my new favorite 'sub-200 yard' hunting round. Bolt Action Ruger American or semi-auto AR based shooting and they're both great. I love that round.

Awesome “GROUP THERAPY “ as I like to call it. I’d love to see some hunting videos with that weapon. I know you may know this already, but you should get you a set of digital calipers and measure your groups. The proper way to measure is, in a 3 shot group measure from outside edge to edge of the 2 farthest apart. Then subtract the bullet diameter. It’s really easy to do.

  • @joshlangner

That was fun but I’m not sure about the accuracy part. If you factor in the 6x LPVO - with that reticle, the fact that the groups were only 3 shots, the bench rest, and trigger(?), I would think that these results are all within “margin of error,” and that one can’t actually try to make a call on which is better or worse. Would have a lot more confidence in an accuracy test if you used a scope with 9 zoomies at least, and a sub-MOA reticle, and took 5 shots.
One takeaway for certain: that gun is pretty accurate, and those varieties of ammo seem very consistent.

He has taken two hogs with one shot. We hold in front of the shoulder and they drop. The 300 BO is interesting because it runs supersonic and subsonic with just a magazine change. This cartridge justs works, despite being less powerful than 7.62x39.

There was a LE warning sent out some years ago after some issues.

Seriously looking at picking up a Ruger AR pistol 10.5” in .300 Blackout as my new truck gun. Put a single point sling and a Vortex Crossfire red dot on her!! That and the new 10mm Sig P320 XTen as a backup… bring on the zombies!!

The Frontier did pretty well also. I was curious how the CMMG rifle shoots in 300 blk. I’m expecting mine to show up any day now. Hope it shoots as well as yours.

I LOVE the 300 BO. I've put everything from a 220 gr to a 110 thru it and have gotten the best results with the 110 Nostler. They shot as well as or better than the Barnes but at 1/3 the price.
One BO website touted the Barnes as the premiere bullet to reload and I went for the hype. Found the Nostler that was my favorite colour (ON SALE) .......... Consistently touchie feelie at 100 yds in the bull. Barnes and the Sierra 110's were in there but price and consistent groups won the day. I zero at 100 and hold one mil-dot high at 200 and almost/sometimes get MOA. 115 and 125 gr bullets grouped well but but not good enough for me. This testing was done when primers were still $35.- a brick😛
Believe it or not I got MOA with the 180 gr. at 100 yds sub-sonic (Midway bulk factory seconds) with an attached can.
p.s.- I have 300 or more Barnes 110's to get rid of if anyone in the E. TN area wishes to get them. .............. enjoy

You could do a freedom munitions test. 50 rnd boxes are decent enough priced

The Barnes I have found do as advertised on expansion, but the nosler varmageddon groups the best for me.

Got a 300 blk ar. Fun rifle. Built it for my kids to use for deer hunting. All the rounds I have are handloaded supersonic 125 grain variety. I'm hoping that the 125 grain will be a happy medium to allow for good speed and enough umph to put Bambi down.

You should see if Anarchy Outdoors would send you some of their upgrades that they make for the Ruger American rifles. I have a bunch myself and most of parts I upgraded is in the bolt and makes a huge difference in the rifle!
