Phill Collins / Genesis absolute legend here in UK. I was fortunate enough, back in the mid 90's to light his appearance at the Jonathan Ross Friday Night Live Show (I was a studio lighting guy back then in Wandsworth London - Ewart TV Studios). We ran the show every Friday night, it took the day to set up the show for the evening. After the show we always had a buffet and some drinks and I got to meet Phil .... he was the most down to earth amazing guy you could ever want to meet! I got to meet many singing stars back then and when they'd gone, us lighting & sound engineers would sleep over at the studio and de-rig on the Saturday morning ready for a fresh start on Monday. Great times! Music in 80's and early 90's was much more of a 'must have' passion with many more huge live tours.
Drumming and singing simultaneously is very difficult which is why you don't see many people doing it. And his vocal control while drumming is amazing.
You have to understand how much affection the U.K. has for Phil Collins. He played in London for Live Aid then took Concord to the US and played there in the same day. The robotic effect you heard is real-tie processing of his vocal by a ‘Vocoder’ type synth processor. He was the drummer for a hugely successful band called Genesis before they broke up.

You can't have lived on this planet for more than 20 years and not heard Phil Collins. His work is iconic and thanks to his love affair with Disney, it's difficult to grow up without hearing at least one of his songs. My favorite is "You'll be in my heart" from the Disney film "Tarzan" which won the Academy Award for best song in 1999. Thanks for the reaction, loved it when you recognized something in the lyrics/sound.
I finally got to see Phil live in 2004 on this tour in Oklahoma City. I grew up with Genesis and Phil it was a bucket list item I got to check off. The "eerie" sound you were hearing was a vocoder (used by keyboardist Brad Cole). It is a device that is used to synthesize the human voice. Anyway, Phil was 53 years old when he did this concert in Bercy, Paris in 2004 and it was truly an amazing performance by Brad Cole (keyboards, synthesizers, Vocoder), Daryl Stuermer (6 String Guitar), Leland Sklar (Bass Guitar), Chester Thompson ("Rhythm" Drums) and Phil himself (vocals, drums). It was performed in front of 20,000 + people at the "Palais Omnisport de Paris" and truly was, if not the greatest, close to the greatest live performance ever. It was from his "Finally... The First Farewell" Tour and this particular concert in Bercy started with an amazing "Drums, Drums & More Drums" track performed by Phil and his other drummer, the previously mentioned Mr. Thompson. Incidentally, this track ("In the Air Tonight") was the 17th in the tracklist sandwiched between Separate Lives and Dance Into the Light. Phil had the energy he had in this song all the way through to the end of the concert (as did his musicians). Now that he can no longer drum, his son NIcholas plays drums almost as well as the old man did--literally--Phil is 70 now. His son is on the Domino tour with Genesis currently. Oh and of course, his daughter Lily is rapidly becoming a famous actress in her own right. So, he's still doing alright I suppose (tongue in cheek).
This is definitely the video Phil Collins In the Air Tonight pretty-much the go to video for every UA-cam reactor. This is it this is the one. Every time that Phil Collins makes it to the top of those steps and he gets about halfway to those drum sets The Crowd Goes Wild the reactors sit up and take notice. Game on.
This song was one of the greatest hits of the very early 80s. It is most famous for popularizing the "drum sound of doom", as heard here when Phil sits down and plays the iconic beat himself.
Love hearing the crowd murmuring with anticipation as he approaches the drums. Love Bisscute's dance when he starts drumming. Like a switch was thrown and she simply couldn't sit still. Awesome!

So many great songs and this one is definitely right there up on a whole lot of people's all time favorites. This is an epic song and he nailed this performance.
"Do I actually know this song ?" 🙃 haha love it! It's a great song, impossible to have never heard it somewhere. The drum fill of drum fills EPIC and timeless...
The robot voice is called a Vocoder. Its a synthesizer connected to a microphone. Operated, in this performance, by someone else on stage. They sing the harmonies along with his voice, and the synthesizer turns it into robots. Very cool set up.
One of the many things I find amazing about this performance. Is Phil appears to be just walking around. Yet, he arrives at the drum kit just in time for his solo.
Phil, as a superb drummer, has always had perfect timing. If you watch his Genesis concerts, he very subtly waits til the last second to hit the mike (I think to tease us, the audience).
Air drummers all over the internet have just been going crazy! :-D The sense of anticipation, waiting for that moment, when Phil starts drumming is insane. Amazing drumming by Phil, but let's not forget he is backed up by another amazing drummer, Chester Thompson, a legend amongst his peers. When Phil was looking for another drummer, he reached out to Chester, who promptly accepted. Such was Chester's skill and reputation, Collins took on Chester immediately, without even an audition.
Collins and Chester "solo clips" are amazing to watch/hear. The way they can not only match each other, but complement each other and play off each other feels like 2 souls meeting over a drum-kit.
Phil probably knew Chester's work with Frank Zappa, where he played double drums with Ralph Humphrey and Ruth Underwood on percussion. Certainly no audition needed for Phil's band!
Not quite true - When Peter Gabriel quit Genesis as lead singer it took a while for the band to work out who the best replacement was. Suddenly it dawned on them that Phil had been doing backing & occasional lead vocals.... & he became the lead singer..... but that gave a problem with live performances.... they tried a few different session drummers including Bill Bruford! After a couple more albums, Steve Hackett also quit, so they also needed a new guitarist! Famously, Darryl & Chester bumped into each other in the airport departure lounge & realised they were both flying to join Genesis.... When Phil started his solo work, they were the first people he asked to join him.... neither needed an audition....!
This video should have gotten an Oscar for editing. This is an epic performance. You will LOVE more Phil Collins. His ballads are legend. Both solo and with Genesis.
He was the drummer with genesis until the lead singer left the band and the rest of the band said "you've got a pretty good voice Phil" and the rest as they say is history. That original singer was Peter Gabriel

I was at this Farewell Tour when he came to Tacoma, WA and there just isn't anything like seeing this done live! Phil Collins is a legend, there just aren't enough adjectives to describe him!
Only Phil Collins could pull this song off in concert. His slow move to the drums along with the instruments playing harmony to this his vocals only adds so much more to this presentation. It would have been a major treat to be there at this concert.
That brief drum solo is the defining sound of Generation X and we’ve all “Air Drummed” it, mostly incorrectly. I love watching these reaction videos at that moment and seeing the smile break out as the chair dancing starts. I’ve seen people do it stopped at traffic lights and I was fortunate enough to see Phil do it live at Starwood Amphitheater in Nashville.
When his voice sounded robotic, I'm almost positive that it was being layered over that of the keyboardist, who clearly has a microphone above the keyboards he was using in this piece. That voice was run through what's called a vocoder, which changes the harmonics of the voice that's put in, by working it through synthesizer circuits. If you listen carefully, it is not synchronized with Phil's voice, and several time starts before Phil does.
Used in many things. Two of note for me is Risky business with super young Tom Cruise as a high school pimp and also the UK cadbury's chocolate advert with the Gorilla in it, which is epically brilliant as a concept.
Really love your honest reaction and your cute comments, and yes, I love your accent, too! 😊❤😊Happy you were able to hear this song! I am a drummer and a singer too, and it requires lots of concentration to maintain the correct rythm while singing at the right time, and Phil is a master at this! (to see my drumming just search Rogers double bass here on YT.) I subed and liked! Thank you so much!
Phil Collins is my musical father and the reason why I began to drum as kid and now still do. His sound and playing is so unique. I saw this live-version during his first farewell-tour in Belgium and still is the best performance I have ever seen from an artist. His concerts were always awesome. Its pitty he can t drum anymore and now definitely stopped as musician. I will miss him enormously. Which artist anno 2022 wil ever do better than this man did ? Yes, no one. Respect !
That was what it was like when we went we had 3rd row seats in front it was Amazing 20 Thousand people just going crazy when we saw Phil it was about the same year the album came out in his Prime it was Amazing thanks for bringing back some good memories.😀🤘✌
That robotic vocal effect was most likely some sort of vocoder instrument, hard to tell whether they somehow fused it with Phil's vocals or whether the keyboardist or backing vocalist were providing the source vocals. In any case the effect was spine tingly brilliant. This live version was a theatrical masterpiece.
It's just an audio processor. The lead vocals are output with delay, reverb, etc. It's real time processing not prerecorded or coming from a different source.
Well, they certainly used a vocoder, with the keyboardist, Brad Cole, historically. There's actually a video up from a concert in Berlin on Phil Collins' 1990 tour with a camera following Cole for the first four & a half minutes of the song: ua-cam.com/video/ew_HZXabaBQ/v-deo.html (Other, more conventional concert videos from '90 also do a good job of catching Cole using the vocoder.) As for this performance, I think there's a good chance that you're right and it's still vocoder. You can catch a glimpse of what appears to be him using it at 10:47, and it seems to be why he's using his mic at 11:24. And at about the 8:58 mark, the vocoder seems to say "tonight" before the lead vocal does; I think it gets just ahead of Phil at 9:25-27, as well.
I grew up in the 80's so still recall when this first came out. Song was notably used in the Film Risky Business with a young Tom Cruise and also the epically brilliant UK Cadbury's chocolate advert with the Gorilla in it.
Drumming and singing at the same time is very difficult which is why you don't see many people doing it. And his vocal control while drumming is amazing. Karen Carpenter had the same skills.
I was at this show and boy, just like the comment below, once the guitar comes in, I had such Goosebumps until literally the end of the guitar and then the downswept of the guitar into a lower note and all the way into Phil Collins starting. It's amazing how people don't do their research beforehand and realize that he replaced Peter Gabriel as the singer of Genesis and the drummer of Genesis before his own solo career and then Genesis released a later album afterwards with Phil Collins singing with some of the really best songs being on that album Believe it or not ( I can't dance). I've also heard two reactions out of approximately 15 I've watched where those two already knew the song, really wanted to do a reaction of it, and kept saying oh this is definitely a lip sync, but if you know Phil Collins, he's the real deal and always has been. This song is about his divorce originally and has remained obviously towards that. "Cause the pain never shows, but the pain always grows..." "I saw it with my own two eyes. So wipe off that grin, I know where you've been... ".
I just found your channel tonight and looked for the big three reactions that everybody does, Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing (Alchemy Live), Disturbed - The Sound of Silence, and this, Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight. I was happy to see two of the three in your list of videos. I would recommend that you do a little research on the artist and song prior to the reaction so that you get an idea of what is being sung about and the artist background. For instance, Phil Collins used to be the drummer for the huge 70's band Genesis. Anyway, I'm glad I found your channel and will be looking out for more great reactions!!!

Awesome pick....great artist and this song took of by itself but really took off as the theme song for MIAMI VICE a TV show back in the 80's...Phil was also part of the band GENISUS back in the day.
You should be excited. Phil is a master of his craft. This video is wonderful. First time on your channel. This song and video are EPIC. Phil just goes for a casual walk about the stage. Yet he arrives at the drum kit just at the right time for his little rift. A drum rift that is known world-wide. So special. I have learned that sound is a vocoder controlled by the keyboardist. Another drummer that sang lead and played his drums was Don Henley of the Eagles. Another drummer that sings is Jen Ledger of Biscuit. Take care young lady....
@@BisscuteReacts 😁🥰 This performance ...Imo....is better than the studio version! Loved your reaction to this! The timing of his walk to the drum drop....is perfect!!!
You want a lead vcalist drummer? Look up The Carpenters. Richard (the writer and guitarist), and Karen (the drumme and vocalist) - yes, a female drummer/lead vocalist! from the 1970's. Her voice was like pure gold running through the smoothest mould you could ever dream of. She was tragically taken away so young (in her 30's i believe). OK, so songs to suggest......"Goodbye to Love", "Rainy days and Mondays", "Calling occupants of interplanetary craft" , "There's a kind of hush". You probably have heard one or two of these. But there is something so unique and special about her voice, you'll never forget it. She was one of the first people i remember to have had Anorexia Nervosa, and it was all over the news when she died. Such a sad life, but she left us the gift of her voice via their recordings. Oh, by the way - the "discs" you always refer to when looking at a drum kit are called cymbals (pronoonced similarly to symbol).
He wrote this in 1980 after divorcing his first wife when he discovered she'd been having an affair. Hence the slightly menacing and melancholic tone to it. Classic song, and the explosion of drums is iconic.
No auto-tune, but still plenty of "assistance" from the f/x booth. People act like before auto-tune every singer just sang clean without any help. Phil is a great singer, but if you heard this without any f/x at all it would sound very different to your ear, like someone with a good voice singing next to you in the car.
Yes his voice is definitely being synthetically enhanced. You hear his actual voice layered on top of a vocoder synthesizer alteration of his voice. Really well done. "Crazy Bananas. " 😂
Phil Collins is a GOAT. He is one of the best selling artists of all time...including his solo career (of which this song is a part) and when he was with the band Genesis. From his Wiki article... "Collins's discography includes eight studio albums that have sold 33.5 million certified units in the US and an estimated 150 million records sold worldwide, making him one of the world's best-selling artists.[11] He is one of only three recording artists, along with Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, who have sold over 100 million records both as solo artists and separately as principal members of a band.[12][13] He has won eight Grammy Awards, six Brit Awards (winning Best British Male Artist three times), two Golden Globe Awards, one Academy Award, and a Disney Legend Award.[14] He was awarded six Ivor Novello Awards from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors, including the International Achievement Award. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1999, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010. He has also been recognised by music publications with induction into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2012, and the Classic Drummer Hall of Fame in 2013.[15][16]" This specific song he wrote during a rather tumultuous time in his life... he was in the middle of a rather bitter divorce with his then wife..this song was about that!
If you liked this performance, you must react to Pink Floyd live. Do „comfortably numb“ from their Pulse concert. (Or „High hopes“ from the same concert.) You will be stunned! (Not only by the crowd. The whole concert was a performance of a generation, maybe the best of a whole century…)
He's singing about his divorce [and the finalization of it] as he can feel it in the air tonight. Been coming for a long time and finally it's here. He really conveys the emotion of that time in his life. Very strong song by a very talented drummer/singer.
Did you know that the reason for the divorce was he found out his first wife was cheating on him with a friend who was a professional house painter and decorator.

yes he does, he also plays all the instruments on all his recorded songs, he writes and produces all his and for others music, as well he acts and directs movies/TV shows (back in the day), he is without a doubt one of the most versatile/talented performers out there, his Daughter (Lily Collins) is as well multi talented
Not only does he do the drums, he plays Piano, can play trumpet and also Guitar and Bass and tons of other instruments. I highly suggest you listen to his Album "Both Sides". On this Album, he plays every single instrument himself. However. I still think he had his pinnacle with "But seriously..." at least in his solo career. When it comes to Genesis, I can fault any Album where he has participated. I was so shocked when he left after the "I can't dance" Album, especially, it was such a great record. He still amazes me to this day.
This song gained more fame from being used in commercials than it did radio play. As much as I like this song Against All Odds is my favorite song done by Phil, you should check it out.

Paulina sings lead on about 20% of their songs but any one of the 3 sisters can take over and sing lead when needed (I will give you an example). 1) Dust to Dust (written for Paulina to sing lead while drumming): ua-cam.com/video/Jb7Hi0X16DU/v-deo.html 2) Survive Written for both Daniela (guitar) and Paulina to sing leads: ua-cam.com/video/E62SVvLw9FI/v-deo.html 3) Copper Bullets (written for Daniela to sing lead but she was having some voice issues so Paulina sang the lead): ua-cam.com/video/7PnEwri-2d0/v-deo.html

So many great songs and this one is definitely right there up on a whole lot of people's all time favorites. This is an epic song and he nailed this performance.
Phil Collins is just pure talent.. dude was a beast
Right? ❤
There's a reason major animation studios fought to get this guy associated with their soundtracks. He's a powerhouse.
This performance was recorded/filmed at the "Bercy" in Paris.
he and you are awesome
"Do I actually know this song ?" 🙃 haha love it! It's a great song, impossible to have never heard it somewhere. The drum fill of drum fills EPIC and timeless...
Fact: Phil Collins is considered one of the best drummer in music history…
Agreed, but Neil Pert was the best.
The robot voice is called a Vocoder. Its a synthesizer connected to a microphone. Operated, in this performance, by someone else on stage. They sing the harmonies along with his voice, and the synthesizer turns it into robots. Very cool set up.
There's also reverb and delay on the voice
Brad Cole, the keyboard player.
Yup, those drums will never go old! 🎉
I think this song was on the pilot episode of,*Miami Vice in the end chase.
Just pure TALENT!!!
Such a sweet reaction at the end when you saw the girl being emotional, "Don't cry" ❤
@@t_bone12571 Actually, he was a fan of Weather Report. Although he did like that Chester had played double drums with the Mothers.
Just image yourself standing there and listening to this masterpiece. Live.
I was at a concert where Phil and Chester Thompson both drummed on this song, it was amazing.
Phil ... great pianist, drummer, vocalists... lovely
This video should have gotten an Oscar for editing. This is an epic performance. You will LOVE more Phil Collins. His ballads are legend. Both solo and with Genesis.
That appreciative and reverent reaction from the crowd at the end is why people become artists and performers. This was magical!
Always great to see reactions to this particular video. If you can, watch the entire concert. It is well worth the time.
He was the drummer with genesis until the lead singer left the band and the rest of the band said "you've got a pretty good voice Phil" and the rest as they say is history. That original singer was Peter Gabriel
Aweee, Thank you. I appreciate it ❤

Drummer first singer, second. Also a child actor. This is probably the greatest live version of any song ever!
Sounds as though he is running his voice through a delay as well.
You're quite right, there's a keyboard player who has a vocoder, if you look at 10:49 you can see him just below Phil in a white t-shirt.
Flawlessly and all around world renowned ❤ his solo. Career and yrs with genesis 😮❤😊😢
This song was played many times in the 1st Miami Vice TV series back in the 80's with Don Johnson and the famous Testarossa Ferrari.
Which was my intro to, and started my love for Phil (as well as black convertibles with chrome rims.)
Used in many things. Two of note for me is Risky business with super young Tom Cruise as a high school pimp and also the UK cadbury's chocolate advert with the Gorilla in it, which is epically brilliant as a concept.
He was amazing on Miami vice playing a used car salesman type.
Well more like Ferrari Daytona
Really love your honest reaction and your cute comments, and yes, I love your accent, too! 😊❤😊Happy you were able to hear this song! I am a drummer and a singer too, and it requires lots of concentration to maintain the correct rythm while singing at the right time, and Phil is a master at this! (to see my drumming just search Rogers double bass here on YT.) I subed and liked! Thank you so much!
It's one of those great songs that takes you're mind on a journey! This song got me through a very rough time in my life!
Respect !
Phil Collins is so awesome. His son also plays drums as well. Love your reaction!
Two of his sons play drums. Simon Collins, and Nicholas Collins.
Phil Collins is a percusionist, composer, arranger.and great singer...
He doesn’t put his voice through a filter. He’s been around for 50 yrs he wrote this song 40yrs ago. He’s the real deal.
@@andrew348 Ah that's how they get that effect, fascinating, tks for that Andrew.
Its the keyboardest making that sound. You can see hints of it in this video and better views in others. The keyboardist is wearing a head set mic.
Definitely light vocoding on this song!!!
Love you Bisscute... for recognizing a super talent..
I grew up in the 80's so still recall when this first came out. Song was notably used in the Film Risky Business with a young Tom Cruise and also the epically brilliant UK Cadbury's chocolate advert with the Gorilla in it.
phil was a master musician he could play every instrument on the stage
Drumming and singing at the same time is very difficult which is why you don't see many people doing it. And his vocal control while drumming is amazing. Karen Carpenter had the same skills.
One of the very best videos in Rock and Roll history.
The young Paulina in the great young Mexican sister band The Warning, she is an amazing percussionist and she sings lead vocals as well while playing
I loved your reaction when he broke it down on the drums. So cute! ❤️🥰
Phil Colin’s was a drummer before he became the frontman-singer
i get anxious every time I watch this, that he won't get to the drums in time. mad hey
That is purely Phil's voice. What you're hearing is a vocoder operated by the keyboardist, Brad Cole
For a kickass young female drummer sometimes doing lead vocals while drummer check out The Warning. Pau is just 20 but already a legend.
Love Pau on those drums, so much charisma.
The Warning are 3 Mexican sisters from Monterrey Mexico and the drummer Pau (pronounced Pow) sings lead on about a quarter of their songs. Check out their song Dust to Dust! 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
@@jeffvolpe4117 Check out ALL their songs. They're a breath of fresh air.
@@itsmeagain1745 oh trust me, I have heard them all- I saw them at the Rockville festival in November, and 3 times on their Mayday tour- I just got back from seeing them at the Troubadour this week on the 23rd & 24th- I was just suggesting D2D as a good intro song for someone that hasn’t heard them or Pau. 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
Awesome pick....great artist and this song took of by itself but really took off as the theme song for MIAMI VICE a TV show back in the 80's...Phil was also part of the band GENISUS back in the day.
The "robotic voice" is a backing vocal with effects on it. In this particular show was made by the keyboard player. Check 11'23" in your own vídeo.
The most famous drum fill in history.
This song was my favorite for long time, Thanks for you interest in the art of 80/90's
First time I hear this was 80's tv series Miami Vice, best times! Driving at night in city and listen this take me back in time.😍

@@BisscuteReacts 😁🥰 This performance ...Imo....is better than the studio version! Loved your reaction to this! The timing of his walk to the drum drop....is perfect!!!
incredible talent, Phil and his band Genesis basically ruled the charts in the 80s
Not his band, Genesis was a band in which Phil was a member.

I mean there was the small matter of a man called Michael Jackson in the 80s. I think he did pretty well in the charts 😉
Was a pleasure watching your recation to this video, thanks for enjoying this as much as I did. :)
Phil Collins is awesome. This was a huge song when I was a kid. Keep the reactions coming. You're doing great!
Phil is a legend. Period. ❤
NO AUTO TUNE SISTER. THIS IS LONG BEFORE AUTO TUNE. PHIL DOESNT NEED GIMMICKS!! JUST 100% PURE!!
No auto-tune, but still plenty of "assistance" from the f/x booth. People act like before auto-tune every singer just sang clean without any help. Phil is a great singer, but if you heard this without any f/x at all it would sound very different to your ear, like someone with a good voice singing next to you in the car.
Pete Rivera was the lead singer and drummer for Rare Earth in the 1960’s and 70’s. There are very few great drummers that also are the lead singers.
Yes his voice is definitely being synthetically enhanced. You hear his actual voice layered on top of a vocoder synthesizer alteration of his voice. Really well done.
"Crazy Bananas. " 😂
Actually, the keyboard player is singing backing vocals through a vocoder
Love it! and love Phil!
He has also been recognised by music publications with induction into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2012, and the Classic Drummer Hall of Fame in 2013.[15][16]"
This specific song he wrote during a rather tumultuous time in his life... he was in the middle of a rather bitter divorce with his then wife..this song was about that!
Good reaction, Collins is a legend, now is the time to see Pau, 20 years old female drummer of The Warning....Dust to dust is the song......
He is on of the greatest. Absolute perfect in all he does. There are CDs he played all instruments.
He's singing about his divorce [and the finalization of it] as he can feel it in the air tonight. Been coming for a long time and finally it's here. He really conveys the emotion of that time in his life. Very strong song by a very talented drummer/singer.
"hold on"? What fecking song you listening to? Get the lyrics right FFS.
Did you know that the reason for the divorce was he found out his first wife was cheating on him with a friend who was a professional house painter and decorator.
The lyric is "Oh Lord," not "Hold on."
@@Engineer_Who how people can get this wrong I have no idea. Thanks captain obvious.

yes he does, he also plays all the instruments on all his recorded songs, he writes and produces all his and for others music, as well he acts and directs movies/TV shows (back in the day), he is without a doubt one of the most versatile/talented performers out there, his Daughter (Lily Collins) is as well multi talented
Bisscute, Phil Collins can also play the piano while singing. "Against All Odds" is a good example.
he does not play all instruments on all of his recordings
Miami Vice also helped in making this Song very popular. 🙂 And "Against all Odds" is also great ... I also love "I wish it would rain down."
Best advert for Fender Stratocaster guitar ever! Awesome guitar sound.🙏❤️
Together with the "Pulse" live version of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably numb".
Phil Collins is a fantastic musician, you should check out some old Genesis, from when Peter Gabriel was the singer and Phil played drums and did backup vocals, some really amazing songs. By the way, have you not reacted to anything from “The Warning”? Paulina (Pau), the drummer often takes lead vocals and is fantastic, as in this song, “Narcisista”. ua-cam.com/video/O7IAEhN4RMM/v-deo.html

Great reaction! Phil is such an Epic performer and this particular performance is EPIC!! If you are looking for more singing drummers I have a young woman for you to check out. The band is The Warning. The drummer is Paulina Villarreal. She and her 2 sisters have been a band since they were 14, 12, and 9 years old. Paulina sings lead on about 20% of their songs but any one of the 3 sisters can take over and sing lead when needed (I will give you an example).

2) Survive Written for both Daniela (guitar) and Paulina to sing leads: ua-cam.com/video/E62SVvLw9FI/v-deo.html
3) Copper Bullets (written for Daniela to sing lead but she was having some voice issues so Paulina sang the lead): ua-cam.com/video/7PnEwri-2d0/v-deo.html
Other Phil Collins to check out is the Disney Tarzan album. 7:31 that makes a softer sound on the drums/cymbals.
The stick being used on the cymbal is a mallet. Imagine a very large q-tip, the soft fluffy part is what’s hitting the cymbal and giving that brassy buildup sound.
