This is how it went down for me. Guitar town was suggested for me by utube. After listening to Steve discuss his instruments and remembering City of Immigrants which played on KRVM outaEugene , I dug in to Washington Square Serenade. In the past 4-5 weeks it’s been a great d discovery. Here it is Christmas morning with Low Highway. Talk about what I been lookin for.

Thanks Steve, appreciate these great pieces of guitar information👍👍 I have a 63 J-45 Sunburst and a good friend has a 1960 Tobacco model--we've both had them for 55-60 years! All the best.

The Guitar Town series is brilliant! How about an Episode or two about your view on maintenance, set up, humidification, maybe a bit about neck resets and when you consider them necessary...now that would be - at least for me - super interesting.

I bought a new 2014 Gibson J-15 walnut flamed back and sides a few years back and holy cow I couldn’t believe that it had the sound of the ones made back in the 1930s 1950s

I’m such a Martin guy! I don’t currently own a Gibson, acoustic or electric. I’ve owned a 50’s J45 but stupidly traded it away. I own 6 Martin acoustics, two Gretsch acoustics, and two outstanding Guild acoustics - 12 string and a 6 string. Electrics are all Fenders - 6 Teles, a Jaguar, and a Jazz bass and a modern bass six - and Gretsch’s, White Falcon 55 RI, and a vintage Chet. I have two Godin’s from Canada - a 335 style single cut “Montreal Premier” and a vintage Acousticaster, thanks to Collin Linden!
    Peace

About1985 I played a ‘55 J45 at the Fretmill guitar store, Roanoke VA. Still remember the sound. That ‘55 J50 sound reminds me of that moment. 😎👍

Great guitar for a singer songwriter. That dry and woody sound that Bob Dylan had on his early recordings. I believe he had a J50 before the more famous Nick Lucas. I love it. Hope I can afford one some day...🙂

I owned a Martin J40-M. The J was, I was told, for "jumbo", M for "medium". Bass and highs were amazing. 'Wasn't a good fit for me though. 'Love the series!
It was pretty much like this. I paid around 2300 for it but that was at least 20 years ago.

That's so bottom end sounding(the 35) compared to the Roy Smeck in the last episode. Wasn't that j50 like what Buddy Holly used to record a log of his later songs in NYC.

Wow..How do you get stronger in the vocal chord department at age 65? You are sounding strong.
Please at least tell us about the J200 Celebrity you had in 1991. Did you sell it? When you played it at McCabes that year you joked that it had some dark songs in it. Did it belong to Dwight Yokum? I saw him playing one when he did Guitar Town with you on a UA-cam video....and finally as a collector...do you remember which number in the series of 90 yours was?...I'm making a list....#9 and #42 sold in the Davis Gilmour auction last year.

I would love to hear your thoughts on that. -Jb

Have you ever took a shot of your guitars all together ? From what ive seen of the collection pretty #*$ckin serious. I have been lusting after a j45 with the mahogany punch, but can't decide j45 or Martin 0018.
