Like I alluded to, there are some pretty big plans afoot! I just need to get it all done before the exhibition now but I'm hoping to do the bulk of the work in the next few weeks I possible 😅 Thanks for watching 🤩
Love the details you have add. The shop turned out great. Nice to see you hanging out with camera in hand enjoyed the story behind the lab next to you. Thanks for sharing can't wait for next one. GOD BLESS from America 🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖
Thanks, yeah it's really great to have the figure scan of me on the layout and the Lab is just the icing on the cake for me. Hopefully won't be too long before the next instalment. Thanks for watching 😃
Thanks Nigel, it's really pleasing to have these two main modules done now. I must put together a longer running session at some point to really show them off. Thanks for watching 🤩
That is really coming together, job well done. I really like how the engine shed turned out, you showed some really nice tricks to make it look awesome, thanks for sharing. Cheers! Ken
Im taking a little bit of a break first but after that it's onto the two short straight modules which are crucial for the exhibition. Then redoing the corner/curved modules and doing the scenery on those three all together. Thanks for watching 😃
Great work! It is so crazy to think that just a few months ago these modules were just bare baseboards. Now, it looks just as good, if not better than any layout I’ve seen at an exhibition! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for later videos of this series!
I know! Even then it's really only been a few weeks since the majority of the scenery went down on the station module. I'm starting to feel more confident about displaying it now! Thanks for watching 😃
Layout is looking fantastic! Feels like a bit of a milestone episode. Been here since episode 3, so it's great to finally see all 6 of the scenic modules finshed (not that anything is ever 100% when it comes to model railways haha).
Just seen some of the other comments and it seems there is still a bit of work left on the corner modules! Either way, the layout has really come to life recently and you're so close to achieving that original goal for the layout in Ep 1!
Yeah definitely a milestone to get this section finished but as you’ve already seen, a bit more scenery to do yet and a couple of new modules to construct before the exhibition too. Thanks for watching 😃
Yes lots more still to add on several other modules but these two are (aside from little tweaks) mostly done now. Just need to get the rest of the layout to this standard now! Thanks for watching 😃
Thanks! It's definitely starting to feel more like a model of a heritage railway now rather than just a train set. Like you say, the little details and thinking logically about how things would be if this were real helps bring it all together. Thanks for watching 😃
I was just watching this and thought, those trains could do with some weathering on them too, just a thought LOL. Great work though and thanks for sharing with us.
Yeah I may do some light weathering once the rest of the layout is complete. It’s is meant to be a heritage railway though so I don’t want to go too far! Thanks for watching 😃
These little details look so good! I have a little suggestion for a bit of track detail. Where steam engines tend to sit, puddles of water can develop. If you have a general idea where locos will usually sit at the platform, maybe that mud kit you tested in the previous video could be a good solution? I'm thinking about doing it on my layout!
Thanks! Yes I am planning to do that at some point, I just wanted to see where locos tend to stand the most in general operation before committing to it. I do have a tentative plan to use some resin for the puddle effect too but again I need to do some test before I start adding that to the layout! Thanks for watching 🤩
Great video. I seem to have spent quite a bit of time visiting the sites you’ve mentioned in this episode. It’s given me lots to go on for my North East Scottish Railway project I’m currently planning out. 🥃 slange vah 🥃
Hello sunshine! Busy again I see! 😀 Nice idea with the retaining wall. I like that you did the scenery leading up to it with the thin foam section 🤓 Agreed about the shed re painting and lining. It has made a huge difference, but (sorry if you’d already thought of this) I’d maybe still tone the light down a touch (though I know on film these things always look brighter! 😅). Richard on Everard Junction uses this yellow paint (by Tamiya I think) which adds a softening yellowy glow and almost scales down light if that makes sense 😉 Only one thing struck me though (and hope it’s not taken as a criticism) with the shed: I agree the two full doors would have looked naff, but I still thing they would have had some form of door (possibly a smaller shutter door) to enable them to more easily utilise the space behind the shed (e.g. if they need to get a sizeable component out, they won’t have to empty half the shed to do it). 🤔 Just an idea as the scene isn’t totally finished yet and I know you don’t mind making executive decisions! Speaking of which, you were 100% right with the coaling facility. They are usually piled up as bit willy-nilly and the squarer area looks just right for me 😎 The figures are amazing and I love that you have a model of your dear old dog 😍 We plan to model our house (once we have found it and moved into it!) and will hope to add little models representing the many cats we have both once had around the place 🥰 Love the method on the wall and the track by the way. Really simple but effective, the sort of stuff even I can cope with doing half-decently! 😋 Have a great weekend, look forward to the new modules. My guess is maybe one has a river scene with cut-away bridge section! 😁👍🍀🍻
Glad you enjoyed it Tim! I do have a plan for the doors on the shed but it’s going to take me a bit of time and right now isn’t a priority so it’ll probably be one of those things I add further down the road. Thanks for watching 😃
Great video, I’ll have to go back to the start and watch them in order. Loved the modelu figures. My layout is a bit of a ghost town at the moment, with people lacking!! Subscribed 👍👌
Awesome, there's plenty of videos that document the entire project over the last few years with more coming soon as the layout is booked in for an exhibition later this month! Definitely recommend the Modelu figures, I was a fan of them even before they became a sponsor. Thanks for watching 😃
Yes the figures definitely need a matt finish to them! It was a bit of a rush to get them ready for the video but you can see the ones I added round the yard previously do have a more realistic finish to them. Thanks for watching 😃
Ahh great I missed the live stream which I apologise for missing it That Model Railway Guy also you should get a figurine of the rev.w.awdry for your station module gathering ideas for a story in his books
It’ll be a little while yet as that’s towards the bottom of the list. Next up I’ll be building two short modules which will be crucial for the exhibtion. Thanks for watching 😃
Honestly, it's unlikely. I know very little about Australian locos and considering all my layouts are British outline, it wouldn't really make much sense for the channel. I imagine there are much more qualified UA-camrs out there to cater to the Australian market. Hope you understand and thanks for watching 😃
Hi :) i see you have black ballast outside the engine shed. I too want to have this outside mine. My question is, how did you change the colour of ballast from one to another? Many thanks :)
Hi there, I covered this in an earlier episode (ua-cam.com/video/FdhvO6GUG4o/v-deo.html) but essentially I used Geoscenics Siding Weathering Kit which comes with some very fine black powder to replicate the ash and cinders commonly seen around yards. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃
I'd definitely like to do something with the PECO Bullhead track at some point - I've got my hands a bit full with this layout at the moment though. Thanks for watching 😃
Getting back into hobby as an old man with bad eyes. Always a Rupert Bear fan and would to do a small Nutwood scene. Anyone know of any good sources for figures in any scale?
Great to hear you're getting back into the hobby Stephen. I don't know of any specific Rupert Bear themed figures but perhaps you could look at the Sylvanian Families toys and modify some of those to look more like the characters you're after. They're quite large but should work for O Gauge or G Scale, which might be better for your eyesight anyway. Either that or you could commission someone like Modelu to make them for you - though I imagine that would come at a cost and there may be Copyright/IP issues too. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃
You basically just have a very tiny amount of paint on the brush (so that it’s practically dry) and then brush it over whatever you’re painting. Tiny flecks of paint get caught in the detail adding a little bit of variation to the colour. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃
Hi Matthew, basically you put a little bit of paint on the brush, wipe most of it away so that it’s almost dry and then lightly brush over whatever you’re painting. The effect is a very light speckled coat of paint which works really well for adding additional texture. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 👍
@ThatModelRailwayGuy Thankyou for the reply, I'm starting my modelling adventure, just building out my loft ready for the baseboard build. It's been a long time coming so very excited to start . Your videos have been very inspirational.
I mean as long as it functions in the same way a normal railway would and someone makes model versions of the trains, I don't see why you couldn't make it as a modular style layout. Thanks for watching 👍
Care to provide any examples? From what I've seen their prices tend to be the same as other retailers which makes sense considering the manufacturers impose limits on how much products can be discounted.

@@ThatModelRailwayGuy would love to see a running session as you say
It's looking really good. I'm looking forward to seeing Pitley in the flesh
Thanks! Still a long way to go before the exhibition and lots more to come... assuming I can get it all done in time! Thanks for watching 🤩
That is really coming together, job well done. I really like how the engine shed turned out, you showed some really nice tricks to make it look awesome, thanks for sharing. Cheers! Ken
Yeah the shed looks a lot better now! I was so sick of seeing the bare plastic interior when it was fully lit up. Thanks for watching 😃
Another great episode - those little details make a big difference .
Glad you enjoyed it John, yes it's the little things that just make the world feel a bit more lived in. Thanks for watching 😃
What's next guy? The final curve module, redoing the square curve modules or the extra straight pieces. Either way can't wait! Awsome stuff
Im taking a little bit of a break first but after that it's onto the two short straight modules which are crucial for the exhibition. Then redoing the corner/curved modules and doing the scenery on those three all together. Thanks for watching 😃
Nice work mate. The little details really brought the station to life! and that shed interior is just superb. - Nicholas.
Thanks, the shed definitely looks so much better when you look inside with the lights on now. Thanks for watching 😃
I have only recently come across your channel and am binge watching this series. Full of great ideas and techniques, thank you.
Welcome Aboard Duncan! You've joined us a the perfect time as this build is getting into the final stages now. Thanks for watching 😃

Yes lots more still to add on several other modules but these two are (aside from little tweaks) mostly done now. Just need to get the rest of the layout to this standard now! Thanks for watching 😃
Look forward to seeing the new video also what detailing do you suggest for a diesel engine shed. Also I am currently building a depot layout.
Hiya, don't know if you've watched this video yet but you may find the answer to that question in the episode 😉
Some really great work, particularly on the loco shed interior and the coal pile. It's all about the details!
Thanks! It's definitely starting to feel more like a model of a heritage railway now rather than just a train set. Like you say, the little details and thinking logically about how things would be if this were real helps bring it all together. Thanks for watching 😃
Pitley looks fantastic now, the little details do bring a layout to life, looks fantastic with locos going through pitley now 😀
Thanks Adam! It's a fine line between it looking a bit sterile and adding too much clutter but I think I've got a nice balance. Thanks for watching 😃
Nice and simple techniques and very gradual - looking forward to applying some to my own setup
Thanks, it's the little things that really bring a layout to life! Thanks for watching 😃

Great series of videos. Use aluminium tape on the inside of building roofs to stop light leakage. Also masking tape can dull overly bright led’s.
Good tip, I tend to use black paint myself on both buildings and LEDs. Thanks for watching 😃

Would you review a Australian model train
Honestly, it's unlikely. I know very little about Australian locos and considering all my layouts are British outline, it wouldn't really make much sense for the channel. Small things creat realism....artistic....
It can really transform a layout from a model railway to feeling like a snapshot of life. Thanks for watching 😃
Hi :) i see you have black ballast outside the engine shed. I too want to have this outside mine.

Very nice layout there 👍😁. is it possible you could make a small layout with Peco code 75 Bullhead track?

What is dry brushing ?
You basically just have a very tiny amount of paint on the brush (so that it’s practically dry) and then brush it over whatever you’re painting. Tiny flecks of paint get caught in the detail adding a little bit of variation to the colour. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃

drivers in the engines ?
Some of the locos have crew fitted already. Once I have enough funds to do the rest I'll slowly work my way through them all. Thanks for watching 👍
Can you make a galaxy railway modular by the way galaxy railways was a anime
I mean as long as it functions in the same way a normal railway would and someone makes model versions of the trains, I don't see why you couldn't make it as a modular style layout. Thanks for watching 👍
Looks like it was made by Luke Towan
I will definitely take that! Thanks for watching 😃
Personally I thought derails prices were extortionate compared to other sites.
Care to provide any examples? From what I've seen their prices tend to be the same as other retailers which makes sense considering the manufacturers impose limits on how much products can be discounted.
So disappointed! No pinup girls inside the work shed! lol. Just messing with ya....nice job
Haha, not with UA-cam's guidelines these days! Thanks for watching 😃
I’d like to see drivers and firemen in the locos
All in good time Bruce, there’s still a lot of scenic work to do on the other side of the layout first. Thanks for watching 😃
