    There was one classic flight which is not on this compilation that I vividly recall because I fell off the chair laughing. Someone managed to crash upside down in the sea over 2 miles away from the runway.

    The concorde is a VERY hard plane to land. No wonder most of these contestants crashed.

    I wonder if they added the factor that hong kong airport is on the ocean and has a bad cross wind I did see many of the players off to the left of the runway ..another thing is if you have a failed decent could you not throttle back up and go around again?

    • @legoferrari14

      freakyflow After the practice runs they're only allowed one shot, and the loud thump from most of these landings is because the plane has crashlanded (and would in the real world never fly again)

      This was the runway 31 approach over the bay. It could have been worse, they could have made them fly the runway 13 approach from the other end, and make the Checkerboard hill turn.

    I need to understand how they were making simulations better than the ps5 can produce in the 90s.... it used to blow me away then.. shit

    • @clickbaittheproto4672
      @clickbaittheproto4672 Рік тому

      I'm not sure if it was the one used here, but when the Concorde was introduced in the 70s, they had a special-built simulator for it. It used a physical, hand-built diorama of an airport and the surrounding landscape. A cctv camera mounted on a motorized arm and the footage was projected outside the fake cockpit.
      This was just for takeoff/landing, though. Once the simulator was up in the air, the screens turned off and you were expected to fly by instrument.
      Anyways, the analog simulators fell out of favor in the mid-90s, as fully computer-based options were cheaper and more abundant.
