Rev matching is for cars with three pedals not automatics with paddle shifters. A quick YT search you can what Im talking about. Automatic transmission don’t disconnect from the engine long enough to upset the car. With autos the rev match is built into the software for the trans if rev matching is needed. Hope this helps
Thanks for the info
You mean a manual car
I’ve been in an explorer ST and it doesn’t have rev match
true he’s not exactly rev matching the car is rev matching all he’s doing is making the car downshift
@@alexsierra6750 needs a driver mod
If you hold the paddle shifter down it puts it in the lowest possible gear for your speed and will automatically shift for you at around 6,000 rpms so after the first time you hear it downshift keep holding the paddle down you will hear it downshift again then just punch it shifts for you
I hold mine down till it says manual mode at the drag strip as well at the tree and it shifts optimally where I have my shift parameters set at.
If you enter autostick mode with the console shifter it will not shift on its own before red lining. If you enter autostick mode with the paddle shifters that's called temporary autostick mode and will shift on its own before it redlines and will out shift you every time.
@@GT-43 so when I’m doing a 40,50,60 roll and I’m In D (automatic) and I hold down my downshift for second to drop to lowest gear then floor it will it shift for me and not red line or mess up my transmission
@@AlexArmendarizSRT exactly
Like you said, you can press left paddle to downshift to preferred gear.
When you launch, at the same time you press on the gas pedal, hold the right paddle.
When you HOLD the right paddle, it switches it back from manual to auto. And you get the high rpm launch you want initially when roll racing and allow the auto shift do the rest for you.
I'm not sure what you're doing with quickly hitting the pedal, but I don't think that's rev matching or doing anything else except jerking your car forward a bit. If you hit your pedal in a roll race, the other guy will just take the fuck off on you because it will look like a launch. You need to use the paddles or bump stick to rev match.
Love your content man, but not everyone is gonna be an expert on their car right away. Let the haters hate, most people commenting probably own V6's or cheap ass honda civics.
Hold the left paddle for 2 seconds and it will select the proper gear for getting ready to get it. It will still shift when you near redline.
It just drops 2 gears...it doesnt find a gear. I use this a lot when roll racing my challenger 1320. I mainly use if im in 5th gear. Then hold right paddle to go back to D.
I stay in the 704 area and getting my 2020 scat Monday fosho trying this 😂 appreciate you man
My dude 🤝🤝🤝
First of all the most effective way is using the paddles shifter and it will actually shift by himself. Also you can do that with even the R/T not only scats and up. I would like to see one of them modded R/T’s to smoke you
Facts 😂😂😂😂😂
All chargers/challengers do this well at least the v8 rt and scats have same Transmission
No cap
I've owned multiple manual cars and now I have a widebody Challenger scatpack automatic. Manual transmission is the only time rev match is done or works. When you put the clutch in you disengage the transmission and you blip the engine so when you let the clutch out they match. Rev matching does not exist in automatic cars. Your just downshifting that's not rev matching. Love your videos man but I could not not say anything. Keep it up man 👍
Didn't want to put the effort of typing all that out but thank you. Needed said lol
I was watching that and I’m like I’m pretty sure that’s a kick down is all it is 😂😂
@@1991sealed 😅
@@AYO_KO Exactly. We all start learning about cars at different times in our lives. He will be a regular car guy as time goes on.
@@RDFStudios who you telling. I still got WAAAAAYS to go
yes you can rev match in a V6 charger too!! i had a V6 and when i was watching this video i realized that’s what i used to do before i would race and idk why i did it but i know it would make me take TF off 😭🤣🤣 like it would launch me and it would be so smooth too. unfortunately i got in a accident but i’m getting a R/T☺️
The RT does it too
I was about to comment this too 😅
I was using my paddles on my c6 and this makes it so much better for downshifting
Your info about tapping the gas pedal is spot on. But there are two autostick modes. And as far as I have been able to figure out they work the same way, but in temporary autostick mode it will shift itself before it redlines and after a short time with no aggressive accelerator action it will automically turn off autostick. That's the only two differences I've been able to figure out, there may be others.
I always use paddle shifter in sport mode, I love to hear the pop. And I think if u don't shift in time the car will automatically do it for u
so when I’m doing a 40,50,60 roll and I’m In D (automatic) and I hold down my downshift for second to drop to lowest gear then floor it will it shift for me and not red line or mess up my transmission
And does it pop more in track or or sport
@@AlexArmendarizSRT it suppose to shift for u so u don't redline
@@Akron2PDX can u please show me a vid of u driving or post a video on yt
@@AlexArmendarizSRT that pop is hard asf in my RT I looooove it
You’re not rev matching, it just a kick down. In Most new cars stabbing the gas drops the trans to the lowest available gear which is why it blips, bc u downshifted thru the pedal
so when I’m doing a 40,50,60 roll and I’m In D (automatic) and I hold down my downshift for second to drop to lowest gear then floor it will it shift for me and not red line or mess up my transmission
If you use paddle shifters without moving shifter to manual, it doesn't stay in manual mode. It goes right back into automatic mode.
Yup which in my opinion it’s pointless because it will go automatic real quick. I believe this works best when you want to accelerate more from a rolling speed.
The paddle shifter puts you in manual but you can punch it and not up shift bro it'll shift the gears for you
@@kevzstr517 It won't unless you hold the right paddle shifter after punching it to swap from manual to auto. I tried this and I actually ended up redlining in 3rd gear on my 8 speed. I just assumed the 8 speeds had automatic protection against redlining, but my shit redlined in manual. This is if your stick is set to Drive, not manual.
Actually it will after u hold the down shift down and it drops gears u can punch it and it will shift before redline it actually does work if it didn’t in your scat or hellcat something is wrong and there is no need to put it back in drive cause after a second of not driving aggressively it will automatically go back to drive .
To all those ppl saying he's not rev-matching, "The robust new TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission features rev-matching on downshifts."-came straight from a 2015 Hemi Charger brochure. Apparently it's been a thing for awhile and even Dodge refers to it this way.
so when I’m doing a 40,50,60 roll and I’m In D (automatic) and I hold down my downshift for second to drop to lowest gear then floor it will it shift for me and not red line or mess up my transmission
The transmission is doing the Rev Matching, not the actual driver
Naw bro you can use the paddles in regular auto mode and it’ll actively notice when you stopped using them anymore and go back to shifting on its own
He's talking about launching from manual in a roll race. It won't go back to auto immediately.
When you launch, at the same time you press on the gas pedal, hold the right paddle.
When you HOLD the right paddle, it switches it back from manual to auto. And you get the high rpm launch you want initially when roll racing and allow the auto shift the rest for you.
I have a 19 Charger GT and I Rev-Match all the time but 🤔 I haven't tried with the paddle shifters. Thank you for this video.
I have a GT.. I was looking for this comment to see if it possible to rev match at v6
That’s not rev matching that’s the MDS turning on, happens in rts n scats too because we still have MDS lifters. Aka 4cyl mode
Yes 5.7L RTs can down shift to😅 scat owners SWEAR they are so much different than RTs that srt “powered” be getting to y’all heads sometimes
Also rev match happens more so on Deacceleration, Coming to a slow stop the car downshifts gears then RPMs will Spike. Stock factory tune vibes
The difference is over 100 HP.
Yeah I didn’t understand what it meant to downshift till he said, “matching rpm, and gear” I had know idea I was rev matching when I would drive on manual.
2021 RT Durango Tow & Go Does The Rev Matching in Sport & Track Mode…💯🔥🚀
Has anyone experienced gears not shifting after a down shift at high speeds 65-75
You are probably getting the “shift not allowed” on your dash is a safety feature so you don’t downshift to a gear you shouldn’t be in based or your speed
I heard if you do it to long overtime it will damage the valves is that true
I have a 17’ rt plus. When I downshifted with the paddle it did switch to only shifting with paddles, it doesn’t stay on automatic. So if you do this, don’t just floor it and expect the car to shift on its own😂 or you’ll have no car
I know what you're talking about because I drive stick shift, a 6MT 2020 Challenger R/T, and I rev match.
Almost think in a Manual you have no choice. TR-6060 is a beast tho
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the blip puts it in the lowest best possible gear to launch like the paddle does.
I watch the videos and I don’t even how to drive it js entertaining ash😂
Bruh you can't rev match a automatic 🤦🏾♂️ it never disconnect from the engine itself. Its just some software thing to make it feel like that's what its doing.
He's a police informant beware
Say it ain’t so
and what makes u think that
My dad do it all the time and we just in art it’s loud ash but when he takes off he takes his foot off the gas and takes off again
Main i just dig the information. I don't plan on doing this but got damn i luv the game.
"legally of course" *COPS* 😂
Trust the car all you want but when they throw it into a lowered gear YOU WILL NOTICE YOUR OPPONENTS TAILLIGHTS
Nice video,, but once your drop down a gear with the paddle shift and take off, you can hold the + paddle to throw it back to automatic and the car will be in the right gear and u don't have to worry about catching a L. Lol,,, also slim pack 392 have a video on this,,,💪💯💯
THIS, 100%. Hold the + paddle after roll launching.
You can do it in rt’ too I did it by accident and was like wtf🔥
“Woooaahh ooooohh 💨 “ 😅
That’s how you make your pipes pop too!
It’s that the sound it makes when you shift at the perfect RPM?
We always just called it passing gear. Lol. Some called it "kickdown". Is this what we are talking about? Much to do about nothing.
40 rolls 2nd gear 60 3rd
Thanks 🙏
Heres an idea.... get a manual!
so when I’m doing a 40,50,60 roll and I’m In D (automatic) and I hold down my downshift for second to drop to lowest gear then floor it will it shift for me and not red line or mess up my transmission
Correct! It will shift for u before redline!
All that’s happening is when he floors it it downshifts…
I'm pretty sure it drops 2 gears not 1. I didn't think you had to be in sport mode for this.
Video Breakdown: To rev match your automatic simply press the left paddle.
I have a importaint question, . I noticed when in manual mode ( i own a 2020 gt500) when i down shift AND press the Throttle hard all at the same time, its like "rev matching" a DCT transmisson and makes the revs go higher then just pressing the downshift paddle but my question is, is that safe to do??? Will that burn out the dct?
You can't Rev Match an Automatic

Yep. My car? Roll...jam the pedal? Almost eat the steering wheel then 💥 in other words? Not all the time but.....seems like motor and trans is trying to sync
Can you rev match without a clutch? 🤔
By rev match you mean your RPM goes up then yes, the car has a clutch otherwise you wouldn’t be able to shift gears.
No hate bro but you should educate and familiarize yourself with things before making a UA-cam video trying to teach others that thing. Somebody who knew what they’re talking about could have explained it in under a minute.
this is goofy. Just get the 6 speed manual if you want to rev match
My srt8 charger only has ECO and Track mode. Lol
Does your scatpack sputter in eco mode?
Spins off the line.. yessir

That’s what I think too. He only have a scat to show off and that’s it
Why not provide him with some actual constructive criticism to improve his "bad content"? No one's going to listen to you if all you do is tell someone their content is bad and they are wrong. That's useless.
Thanks bro great content
HAHAHAHAHAHA I do it all the time I just throw it into what ever I gear I need you can do that in a 6 speed and its in a rt too
🤔
My car doesn't Jerk when I throw it into a lower gear
Are you in Track Mode? I mean shit man, your car SHOULD jerk when manually downshifting aggressively.
Two hands on that wheel! Lol that's no regular v8 you don't drive those with 1 hand looking cool. Lmao maybe I'm just a noob... carry on my brotha!
Not only would that be impossible in manual cars but i drive my scat with 1 hand when I'm chilling every day 🤷
@@1991sealed hints the word "chillin" not when u gunning it
@@1991sealed yeah I never drive with 2 hands. These things float the faster you go.
You’re missing a pedal. Autos rev match on their own. What a joke of a video.
Rev matching doesn't even apply to automatics.
Bro.. ur explaining this all wrong.. still give you a thumbs up tho.. 😆
Just buy a manual lol
You don't revmach a Auto🤣.
If u buy the car which I’m sure u didn’t cause it says right in the manual it’s rev matching and when u do it your not in auto in this car..
@@taylorarberry8676 🤣2020 widebody challenger all the way. I have read the manual for the 6 speed as well as the 8speed auto and no where does it say to rematch. Obviously you haven't read the manual and don't know anything about transmissions and how they work. If you had you would know that reving an auto while downshifting can cause damage and has absolutely no purpose or benefit. The auto trans in these cars automatically "blips" the rpms to allow the car to downshift perfectly every time. By doing it manually while the car is downshifting you will over rev it and cause damage to the synchronizers in the trans as well as excess wear on the torque converter.
In a manual trans you need to revmatch while downshifting to manually bring the transmission up to the proper rpm range to allow a smooth and damage free transition into a lower gear.
But if you knew anything about any of this you wouldn't have made such an idiotic remark. Have fun destroying your transmission....
@@This_Guy1 so if I didn’t read the book that my 2021 came with why does it use the term rev match😂🤣😂🤣😂
And I could care less cause doing it with the pedal is stupid I use the shift paddle down shift and go when I want to
@@taylorarberry8676 welp i just read through the entire manual for the 2020 challenger SRT 6.4l & 6.2l again just to be sure i didn't miss it, and not once anywhere was the word rev-match mentioned. It did advise against having your foot on the throttle while downshifting in the 8speed auto. So you might want to read that manual again 🤣.
