- In this video I show how to remove your old clutch cable and install a new braided clutch cable from Magnum Shielding on a Harley Davidson Big Twin Motorcycle. Many of the concepts apply to Dyna, Softail and even the Street Glide and Road Glide models.
I just put new bars on my dyna and had to change all my cables. I used all your videos to get it all done and get it done right. Thanks for the help!
No problem, gotta give credit where its do, Im an old schooler, Pans, Shovels, Knucks, picked up a softail, and its all new to me, so your knowledge helps me out a lot, your clean, clear, and precise !!
Good shit bro. This series is probably the best I've found on youtube. I like how they are straight to the point. Keep it up.
Thanks Brother. I appreciate the support.
Got new bars and cables on my bike, but didn't like the way the clutch was adjusted. Thanks for this video - you just saved me an hour each way to dealer, where they would have charged me $100 to turn two nuts.
Another great video, I'm in the middle of replacing the cables on my 14 FXDL to install a new handlebar. This helped a lot, thanks 👍
Good video. Will tackle this project this weekend
Just curious how did it go? I'm thinking about doing this also so save money.
It was easy. Just followed what he instructed. Paused and replayed a couple time.
Great video. My mistake was that I forgot to tighten the cable to the clutch cover. That braided cable doesn't twist so I had to undo the cable from the handle grip, allowing me to spin the cable and tighten it up. at the cutch cover.
Thanks man! Clear & concise! My Black Pearl cables look rad!
I love your videos...very precise and professional! I learned alot! I would like to thank you!
6:47 Hey Chainsaw, your vid on how to replace & bleed my front brake line worked PERFECTLY. Now as I'd like to replace all my cables to match my new Magnum Sterling Chromite II ignition wires & brakeline, how do I accurately measure my clutch cable length without removing the old cable? I've accurately measured 70 &1/2" from the clutch handle to ťhe clutch release housing nut on the cable. I'd like to take advantage of Holiday sales on the cable but wait until spring to do the job...Thanks For Your Help In Advance My Friend. (A relatively new subscriber Bob)
Love your videos man keep them up, simple and instructive. 👍
Thanks Jesse.
Another great video man.
Hey Matt. Thanks man... I hope to keep em coming!
Appreciate your time and video
Great vid. Keep up the nice work.
Hey, thanks Pete. Appreciate the feedback.
I really hate how they do the clutch cable. wish it was external, had one break on me out on a ride right at the lever, was able to hack it together to get home, but hell, I couldn't change this on the side of the road!
What best way to stop rattle on braided clutch cable more ties or should I put something between cable and frame and what kind of bags you got
G'day from Australia, love your vids mate. I have a 2017 FXDLS and getting some black pearl from magnum to put 10"wild one chubby T bars on my bike. Want to have the option of 2" risers if I want the extra height so hopefully order the right length with that flexibility and still keep nice lines if I keep it at 10". My bike has dual front discs and ABS and there's a junction box where the lines run to the ABS unit. If I replace the brake lines on the front, am I going to get air running back to the ABS unit? The dealership says they have to do the change to electronically bleed it but I'd like to try the upgrades myself :) At present I just have the stock bars with 2" risers and it gives me about 7.5" height but that's the max the stock lines will stretch. Keep up the great videos mate, Rock on!!!
What size are the wrench flats on the magnum cable’s adjuster? Doing this away from box and want to make sure I grab the right sizes.
Ok quick question. I just did a bar swap and replaced the clutch cable. I have no issues getting it into neutral or shifting gears but I am noticing that when i put it into 1st from neutral Im getting a bit of a lunge forward. Is this an issue with the actual cable adjustment or do i need to pull the primary and make the adjustment there?
Say what!! Lol subscribed lol
7/16” wrench if anyone Is wondering. Stubbies and crowfoot may help if the bike has a “chin spoiler” that’s a pain to get off.
I've seen heaps best on line love nz
Do you have the part number for these cables ? They look like they'd be the perfect fit for late model Dyna bars and most of the popular bar / riser options out there.
Hi Matthew... You can order from Mangum Shielding: www.magnumshielding.com/If you have any questions about how to order for your specific bike, I have a video to explain:ua-cam.com/video/QwGQ2vo6Tfo/v-deo.html
Hello, I have a 86 fxr. Which I’m putting on 14in Lucky Dave’s bars can you help me on the size length? The person that had it didn’t due a good job. The cable has like no slack even for the stock bars. So I want to replace them.

Sorry if I missed it but what bars are those and how high? Want to put that set up on my Low Rider S
Hey Chad. They are the Santee 12" T-Bars, and then I added 2" risers from DK Customs. So they measure around 14- 15". I did a video on installing the Risers where you can see a before and after the risers. Thanks for watching my videos!
Granite City Riders Just saw the video! Thank You for the great videos!
My pleasure. Thanks for the support.
