- This video is the first in a series on how to measure, order and install custom braided brake lines and brake cables on Harley Davidson, Victory and Indian Motorcycles.
In this video I show how to measure existing cables, and also how to measure for a new handle bar install or fully custom build.
I'm surprised you don't have more subs, your videos are surprisingly professional. Good sound, editing, camera, lighting and angles with easy instructions. Well done.
This dude has excellent helpful videos
Good vid, man. I'm doing a bagger performance build and need black braided cables. Never heard of Magnum until now. Gonna hit them up. I'll give you a mention. Moto Pilot
These videos are perfect! I wish you kept making them
Great video on measuring existing lengths... But what's a good way to measure for the new longer bar that's not installed yet? If I leave the existing stock handle bar and controls on... And run a piece of string from center point of triple tree and run it taught along the stock handle bar up and to the bar end. Record measurement. Then go to the new uninstalled bar on the table and do same method. Run string from center point bar out to bar end... Do you think that would be okay? Or do I really need to go through with uninstalling the stock bar after measuring as you showed. Then install new bar and mock/re-mock. Keep in mind current bar is a standard ape that goes vertical and the new bar is a huge head bar that goes low and back. Thanks for your time.
Thanks for your video and Thanks to Magnum Cables. Theirs is the only cable website that I have found that gives you the stock cable length and travel length. That travel length is very important. I got a clutch cable from LA Choppers and they made it with the travel length 1/2 inch too long. Don't sound like much, but I was not able to get the slack adjusted out of the cable. It was a REAL BITCH trying to make it work and then arguing with my local dealer that ordered the kit for me.
could you and the link to the website in the description? awesome video!
love the videos..got them on my old sporty
Thanks! Great looking cables right?
hey brother. by far the best video out there. i'm not a newby mechanic. but i am kind of new to wrenching on my 06 heritage custom deluxe. I bought heritage bars and was told by the Harley dealership. that the existing cables would be fine. hogwash. anyways, the other videos out there, made it seem like brain surgery just for measuring alone. your video made it clear and common sense.. so a big thank you !! by any chance, have you done the throttle cable install video yet ?
thank you alot, now need to find a way to bring this to EU...
^^
Awesome! Does GCR have an "how to" electrical extension walk through video?
Ok, thank you first of all for the video, helped a lot. And went to magnum to order cables. My cables measured out to be 42" for a dyna wide glide with ¹ ¹/2 riser, and 14"burly apes. Website has 40 1/2, and 42 ¹/2, would be ok to be little longer? And I know "that what she said" lol thank again for the video helped a lot
Since after installing the Magnum Shielding Brake line have you had water get where the clear plastic is? I’ve heard that’s an issue with these
Good vid. What size are those bars?
Where did you get the man in black Derby cover ? I got a very old black & white photo framed of him giving the finger ,hanging in my garage! And I am gonna look at Magnum web site for my FXR front brake line.
Do these cables have a plastic coating on them or are they bare metal cables?
Do they have cables for carb bikes?
They do. I just got clutch, brake, and throttle for my 04 carb’d Sporty.
Can you give me some advise? I currently have braided cables on my 2000 Heritage Springer. I will be replacing the Mikuni HSR 42 carburetor and replacing it with a CV 40 mm carb. Will I be able to use the same cables, or do I need to start shopping for other cables?
Brother thank you! Keep it up!
Thanks for watching brother!
Any way to remove rust from those stainless braided cable line? Mine seem to have gotten brown in spots
What about dual front brakes?
quality video. thank you.
On this video, can you tell what brackets are used on this bike for the turn signal? I want to relocate the turn signals on my Rocker C to the forks but I don't like the clamps available on the market that sit either below or above the triangle where the forks are mounted (I don't know the name of that triangle part). Thanks!
Hey brother I have a question for you. I just picked up a 2011 nightster bone stock. The stock bars suck they got to go. I want to put biltwell keystone XL bars on. They have 8.5” rise. The stock bars have a 6” rise. You think I’d be able to squeeze these XL bars on without having to put longer cables on? Thanks brother and keep the videos coming!
Hey Nicholas... Wish I could give you a straight answer on this. There are too many factors to consider... I would have to see your setup in person. It's not just the height... it's also the width and shape. I would call up Biltwell.. I bet they can tell you what most people are doing with these bars on a sporty.
Granite City Riders will do thanks bro
Do u have a discount code? There expensive!!
Cool
This video doesn't pertain to Road king brake lines , they don't have two banjo fittings on each end. One end is banjo the only end screws into junction box and most sellers are selling brake lines
with a female end that can't be screwed into the junction without an adaptor , male to male.
Fluid pools in lower part of clutch cable ???? What ????
no information for a fat bob. Only has a +2 in. I need for 14" meathooks
what the web address?
