That is awesome ... My first car was an 88 na z31 and I loved it so much. I always dreamed of being able to do something to it powerwise. Big thumbs up 👍!!
Sick build - especially on the electric power steering - thanks for going over everything - 13 minutes is well worth the time to see a full build. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Thanks man. I have updates from when I was building it on my channel. But trying to make a video on the full build… I had to write it all down. Otherwise I forget to include stuff.
There’s not a more true compliment to a car like this than to invest the time and effort into it that it takes to earn it praise. especially when it’s a high quality build and rare example like this. Nicely done, thanks for sharing. Hope it turned out to be all you hoped for and that it inspires others to do the same 🎉
Your trusted mechanic has less experience than me on the issue. Look up Satan Z31. That car had a twin turbo LS making 1311whp and 1126ft/lbs of torque. I doubt you’re building a car like that for your daughter. Anything under 800whp will be fine without reinforcement of the unibody. The rear end, on the other hand… that’s a different story.
Thanks man. This is my second built z31 and this is the street car version. I mention my other z31, which you can find on UA-cam. Satanz31. Stick with it and stay motivated, you’ll get there. 🤙
This depends greatly on your desired outcome. If you want something like this, I would expect to pay around $25,000 with all parts and labor included. If you just wanted a basic LS engine with a stock tune, probably around $ 7,000-$10,000.
so i bout a roller 84 Nissan datsun 300zx, so no engine or trans and was looking at making it a beginner / learning drift car for fun and driving in town. trying to decide on an engine to put in it and idk, some ppl say 2jz , rb20, LS swap it. im looking for it not to brake the bank. its gunna take some years to build and tinker on it and learn the mech. side of it. just wanted ur thoughts on which one u would go with, do u like the ls swap and the difference
Any engine swap is going to cost you money no matter how you slice it. I’m a huge fan of 2J’s but they are not the cheap option. RB’s are not a U.S. engine, so finding parts can be tricky when something goes out. LS engines, while not as cheap as they used to be, are everywhere and parts are readily available all the time. They can be cheap depending on your abilities. I still feel that LS is the best bang for the buck.
@@Andyrod07 Your harness is going to be dependent on whichever ECU you decide to use. I use a Holley Terminator, therefore I needed a Holley terminator harness.
Oh, I just made some solid steel mounts. I made these for my first LS z31 swap in 2010. However, I believe there are some companies out there making mounts for these. Pucker Factory is one and then Dirty Dingo I believe also might make some.
I made my own in 2011 on my last LS Z31 using some 1/4” steel plate and welding to part of the the factory LS truck mounts. For the subframe, I used the NA subframe cause it makes it easier. Pucker Factory sells mounts to LS swap using the turbo subframe.
It was an 85. And nah. The front was fine once I made a core support brace with a turn buckle to spread everything back out. But… I built the RX7, then the z was sitting there. I wanted a street car again and didn’t feel like scrapping the cage out of the black Z. So I took what I needed from it and sold it to a local buddy of mine.
They’re blown hatch struts that I just relocated the mounting points on the hood. Now I can hold the hood up higher and never have to worry about them blowing again.
It is possible. There’s a guy doing it on his z31. I made sure to leave room for a compressor down on the bottom passenger side, because I may eventually do this. He’s posted his progress on z31 mods and builds on Facebook.
Yea I believe I mention that in the video. 240sx s13 subframe. 350z differential with Q45 and z32 axles that i sleeved with 4130 chromoly tubing (because I’ve broken them before) and z32 uprights.
@@diennguyen4204 Lol I got bit by a mosquito 4 years ago. I subconsciously could never stop picking at it and making it bleed, so I heated up a bolt and cauterized it flat, now I’m letting it heal.

This is the same way I want to build one of my 50AE's. Looks great man!
Thanks man. I actually need to do an update video here soon. I’ve made some small changes that I should share.

Just amazing. I'll definitely be saving this vid for references. Insane FC back there! Subscribed.
Sick. I still have my Greddy profec b 💪🏽
They work great! I just swapped out solenoids for a 4 port instead.
That is an insane build. Incredible. Just got my z31 she’s non running but maybe someday I can make mine even 1/4 as badass as yours!

Slick looking car!
I love lamp.
Awesome build
I was thinking of k20c1 swapping my 87 NA 300zx but maybe I’ll just LS swap it
I have AE flares for my '84 Z and I haven't had the ballz to cut the rear fender arch to fit them. -_-
Planning on swapping a ls3 into my 1986 manual NA, what modifications would the car need to run that engine, in stock form?
sick af
I would like to l.s swap my n/a 1985 300zx. I'm not a mechanic. How much do you think that I am looking at to have someone do the job .

How much for this swap?
What harness did you use ? I’m thinking of ls swapping my z31
I used the harness that comes with the Holley Terminator X.
@@satanz3111 do you know any other harnesses that would work

I didn't catch what you did for mounts
Oh, I just made some solid steel mounts. I made these for my first LS z31 swap in 2010. However, I believe there are some companies out there making mounts for these. Pucker Factory is one and then Dirty Dingo I believe also might make some.
What motor mounts did you use? Also are you using the turbo Z front subframe?

I must have missed it, what happened to the 86? Did the front end finally give out?
It was an 85. And nah. The front was fine once I made a core support brace with a turn buckle to spread everything back out. But… I built the RX7, then the z was sitting there. are you keeping the digital dash??
Yes
@@satanz3111nice looks awesome. The 50th ae deserve's to be a beast!
So it the black Z gone or are you gonna do something else with it?
Nope, it’s gone. Sold it back in February.
ok, strange question. What hood struts are those lol
They’re blown hatch struts that I just relocated the mounting points on the hood. Now I can hold the hood up higher and never have to worry about them blowing again.
What happened to your black Z?
I got frustrated with it, so I stripped it and sold the shell. Built an RX7 from the parts and now I run 7’s with that.
@ dang I loved seeing that z, they aren’t too popular
What dif are you running
It says in the video what diff it was at the time of this video. But now I run an Infiniti G35 VLSD 3.69:1 diff. Used to run a 350Z 3.31:1 VLSD.
Are you going to put ac, or is it even possible?
It is possible. There’s a guy doing it on his z31. I made sure to leave room for a compressor down on the bottom passenger side, because I may eventually do this. He’s posted his progress on z31 mods and builds on Facebook.

@satanz3111 ok thanks I'm lq9 on motor and I have the stock half but racing lsd diff.
I had posed a legit Z question on here. Why was my comment deleted?
What question did you ask? I haven’t seen anything? I don’t even think I have the ability to delete comments, do I??? Not sure what happened.
will it run 9"S??
I’ll have to see one day with the dragy and more boost. If I could get it to do 9’s on actual street tires, that would be impressive. Maybe?
What happened to your arm?
