There was a lot of talk about the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 4K steelbook when it was first released, but now it doesn't show up on anybody's top ten list for the year.
Fantastic list, man! This title really did fit this video because there were a few in here that I didn’t even know were on 4K! One that I have from this year that I have not seen one single person talk about is, In Burges from Kino Lorber! Absolutely stunning transfer and a freaking amazing film that I think some people still haven’t even seen, which is such a shame!
Stellar list. I’ll go out on a limb and say the reason folks aren’t talking about them as much is because some sites/reviewers do not get Vinegar Syndrome screeners, or even boutique screeners, to review. Some do but not all and if they have to go out of pocket for it they will not review it. IMO. I just got Doomsday 4K from Shout. it’s a 3-disc set and has a brand new 4k restoration. The only bummer is the unrated cut is only on Blu-ray but is taken from the 4K source, so that’s already better than the Universal release. Props on Howling II - that’s a great 4K title.
I hadnt thought of that but Yeah that makes sense, a lot of folks gotta buy to review sadly and usually VS and Scream Factory dont send too much out for free to review lol
Thanks Chase!! Hoping you'll get your home theater upgraded with atmos speakers this year! To me ( when buying 4k physical media) it makes a huge difference when the release has upraded audio with Atmos or DTS:X as well! At the worst case 5.1 DTS-HD.. a great Video remaster / upgrade is only 1/2 of the package!
Good selections. I'll add Kickboxer has gotten no love from the internet for some reason....It's friggin incredible imo. I also think a lot of movies get overlooked unless they are 80s cult classics, sci fi, or horror in general. Air America was fantastic looking. Navy Seals was just beautiful with all the sunset colors on the aircraft carrier and in the planes. Maybe not as many people have a fondness for non horror / cheesy action flicks but some real gems came and went this year with little to no fanfare.

Nobody is talking about Chronicles of Riddick, but it's one of my favorite releases along with Terminator, Abyss, and of course The Conan Chronicles 4K release. I've now got all 3 Riddick films in 4K. I think the best way to watch Chronicles of Riddick is the 1:78 aspect ratio theatrical with Atmos. It opens up the scenes and looks freaking awesome!

@@LanceThigpen Eh, it's not a SD on blu-ray release, I don't think. They did that with Sliders, and had the entire 88 episode show on 3 blu-rays. Bionic Woman is 58 episodes over 9 discs. To address the issues with the plastic cases, you should check the inside of the case to see if it says elite. It'll be in the lower corner. That means it's a viva elite case. Those are cheap cases. They're weak, flimsy cases and are more prone to that off gasing. Unfortunately, most of the time, that's what's used by both boutique and major studios. Replace them if you can. You should also always wipe the cases and discs with microfiber cloths. Use separate cloths between the case and disc. Smaller thread for discs is better. All microfiber.
