Memories have a funny way of distorting things. You go back and play old games and hear the same music, but it sounds different than you remember. Perhaps not as great (possibly due to technology moving on with vgm production). This... this sounds like what a memory feels like. Idealized. Capturing the emotion as well as the memory of what it felt like to hear the music and play the game for the first time. All the vgm remixes feel like this. To me personally, the mark of how good a song is how many times I play a song over when I discover it (I don't repeat much). I can't stop listening to this one. Haunting, mystical, beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world.
Ahhh now I'm crying. I just remembered all of the hours I plugged away on my Super Nintendo as a kid, in a sunlit room with the smell of wood.. I love you already
Lots of great ones. Secret of the forest, End of time, frogs them, aylas theme, Race with that one guy, Yearnings of wind, manoria cathedral, battle themes, schalas theme, singing moutain, and many more. Yasunori mitsuda was a beast
oh gawd the nostalgia, all of this , it's so hard to find people able to manage to mash and mix all this instruments and notes to... where it all harmonizes. I never had a wave of nostalgia hit so hard.
Saw this linked on the OverClocked ReMix forums and came here to listen. This is a beautiful rendition of Corridors of Time! The beginning is so ethereal - it really captures the 'feel', if you will, of the original. I love how everything comes together after 3:00 and 4:00. Absolutely incredible! Thank you for posting / working on this!
Very nice work - I'm consistently impressed by the inventive textures you use, and you make them work so perfectly. I wouldn't have really been able to picture a melodica-sleigh bells-glockenspiel-synth bass arrangement of this before you made it!
My thought was that I would take different timbres from different time periods and play with them so they work together. You got the early days of folk with the bells and the melodica, you have some 70's prog influence with the mellotron and CP80 sounds, 80's new wave synth bass, and then a more modern, glitchy drum beat. Kind of like the game its from! I dunno. Maybe I get to conceptual with these things. But, I am happy it works and sounds nice!
Bustin' out the melodica! Hell yeah! Dude, this is badass! It's probably the best one you've done yet, and I've loved all your arrangements so far! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Oh man Ace Waters! I don't know how often you get this one requested but I just heard the Title theme to Mega Man 3 and it's Jazzy and Unique and Mobile and Glorious. I couldn't help but think of you. Mega Man 3 (NES) - Title Theme - 10 Hour Extended
like damn men how many synthesizers and midi controllers do you have and how many instruments can you play. subscribed keep it up. having a home studio is the best invention of mankind
I don't mean to sound insulting to any extent. And keep in mind I have not even played Chrono Trigger. But this is by FAR your best one yet. I don't know why, but this one shames the others in comparison .
The color is actually "Honey Burst" and yeah, its the same guitar I have had since last year. The melodica is brand new though! I left a candle burning in my office, and all the wax dripped into my old one and it is super broken now.
Ace Waters Thank you for the reply, Ace! I totally thought your Strat was straight 3-tone sunburst all of this time. The lighting in this video definitely brings out the "honey"! I wish they'd made my P-bass in Honey Burst because I definitely prefer it over 3TSB. Sorry to hear about your old melodica BTW. There's nothing like a new one though :). It sounds good!
The color really sold me on it. I wanted a strat, and one of my local guitar shops had a black lefty, and I was just gonna buy that, but then I saw this one on ebay, and I just LOVED the color.
1:46 never thought I'd get chills from a fucking melodica.
one of my favorite songs remixed so well a treat for my ears
I love you.

Fancy seeing you here

Xeromm This comment made my day. Thank you!
Ace Waters
You're welcome. And I subscribed too. Looking forward to when I can download these on loudr!
Xeromm Here is the album. Remixed and mastered for even more enjoyment: loudr.fm/release/vgm-vol-1/P2ZW5

A masterpiece. Even better the 47th time you see it.

Love this. You should do more chrono trigger music.

Beautiful melodic layers. I never knew vgm could so lovely
You gotta give video game music more credit, mumsy. Its legit.
To be honest I never get bored of your version of this song, this game means so much to me... You're the best Ace ;)
omg I want to go get the rom for this again. I loved this game
I liked your music before, now I just love you. That feel.
so I just found your channel, and my brain just exploded with harmony.. fantastic job with this one Ace. a masterpiece
damn how many instruments you play? crazy, but this is really damn good
Wow. I've seen a lot, maybe even the majority, of youtubers who cover VGM. After listening to maybe 5 of your songs, you're already my favorite.

Agreed wholeheartedly. 3 person collab!?
Shit yeah!
Peter, you should get in on my big #20 video! Make is a grand shabang!
This just keeps getting better!
Really amazing. I've heard a LOT of Chrono Trigger remixes, but the effort and quality that went into this make it stand out. Very well done!
Thank you so much! The challenge of taking on such a loved and covered song is making it stand out, so I am happy that I pulled that off!
Great performance!
This was uploaded 2 years ago, and STILL has no dislikes? :O Amazing! That just shows how good this cover is. :)
I like it, (as usual) the song goes in a different way than I'd expect, and that's cool.
Corridors of Time is such a lovely tune. Thanks for making this cover.
I shivered. I discovered you two videos ago but wow. Subbed. You deserve more subs man
Why am I just now finding this...?
Bustin' out the melodica! Hell yeah!
Dude, this is badass! It's probably the best one you've done yet, and I've loved all your arrangements so far!
Thank you for sharing this with us!
It's like Vangelis made the Chrono Trigger OST. I loved it!
Aaron Wrotkowski That is one hell of a compliment!
Needs a CS-70 for that.
This is amazing, I love it!
epic 10/10

Awesome work as usual :)
What did you use for the mellotron flutes?

I really like this, is there a place where I can download this?
I actually just uploaded my first album of VGM music to loudr, so once all the legal mumbo jumbo gets sorted out it will be available there. :)
smashbro011 Check it: loudr.fm/release/vgm-vol-1/P2ZW5

Not taken as an insult and I am inclined to agree. This may be my favorite, with birabuto kingdom coming in a close second.
Your Tempest performance is great on this one! BTW is that a new Strat??
No different than the strat he's been using, to the best of my knowledge.
ershnuff Indeed! Upon closer look, you are correct. For some reason the lighting and filter made me think the finish was Fender's "Tobacco Sunburst"!
The color is actually "Honey Burst" and yeah, its the same guitar I have had since last year. The melodica is brand new though! I left a candle burning in my office, and all the wax dripped into my old one and it is super broken now.

What DAW you used to perform that song? :)
nicolas almeida I use Reaper for all my recording and mixing needs.
Yes.
Now do the Frog Theme.
wow
I swear to god Daft Punk made a song that sounds near the exact same.
When you wanna time travel the world to save it, but you also wanna make sweet sweet love to your girl too.
what?
