Thanks for the memories. Used to party, camp and hike there back in the 80s, but never did the full hike to Lake piru. Hope your car wasn't broken into, that's the only problem doing a hike like that.
Wow! That’s a beautiful spot Ken. I like the idea of “ungathering” one end of your hammock. I might try that myself. I knew you’d end up in that creek! 😂
Thanks for watching Chris. I'm exploring several differing ways to make traditional gathered hammocks more comfortable. 'Ungathering" one is one of several approaches. Soon I will make a video about these alternatives. Stay tuned... Ken
Great to see you back out Ken, you look well:) I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself when you slipped, I must say that river did look slippery... Amazing nightlapse. You are the master of the nightlapse:) Stay Young and play often:) Sandy
Thanks Sandy. I'm smiling... only showed one of three times I slipped. The sturdy walking pole helped prevent injury. Yes, yes, yes. Stay young and play often my friend. Peace, Ken
I have made that hike before when we lived in Santa Clarita, and it's a beuatiful journey! You just have to watch out for the Black bears. Watching this video brought back some good memories of me taking my sons out to teach them about survival skills.
Thank you so much for these videos! I've been following you for several years now, and they're always so uplifting and inspiring! This saturday (If the weather is ok), I'll finally try something I've been hesitant about: Doing an overnighter all on my own! I'm not planning on getting much sleep (unfamilliar noices, not used to sleeping in a hammock, etc), but seeing your cheerful demeanor and tight connection to nature inspires me! Thank you again for sharing your passion! :)
Such a lovely film Kenneth, like aimless childhood days where the wild outdoors becomes one with the child-like simplicity within all of us. Thank you for sharing such a Franciscan feast of of natural contemplative tones and sounds. Harry. Lowland Scotland.
Beautiful commentary about the experiences of our childhood days . I grew up in the North Eastern Himalayas and I totally relate to it. I'm an absolute outdoor enthusiast . Kenny's adventurous spirit is inspiring, I'm getting on in years and recovering from surgery but I'm motivated to get back on the Trail. I hiked the Piru stream, 5 miles in from the North with my nephew several years ago , it's a jungle out there. Thank you for awakening that lovely memory.
I am happy for you and to be able to see your videos, they are beautiful and inspiring. Congratulations and keep sending your adventures. Camel, Brazil.
You are back woohoo it's been a while.. love the videos keep them coming hello from Arkansas because that's where I'm stranded at.. there are some nice parks around here if you ever want to come in this direction
I watch you every evening untill fall in sweet sleep, thank you bring happiness to my world, and I learned frome you, I will make my half bridge hammock tomorrow! And I like when you say: Try it, you will like it. LOL
Such a beautiful place. I like the way you did your mosquito netting on the hammock. Them rocks look like they are watching each other. Fun video. Peace now!
fantastic adventure Kenneth its been a while since i did anything bushy though for the last 7 years iv travelled across europe by bike and the last two fished as my legs just dont want to know now
Oh yes, It is beautiful. I love rocks as much as you do .... and have rocks in my head too. I'm planning a trip to the desert, when my family hunted rocks in the 1950s. May mention your channel in upcoming video. Peace, Ken
I really hope you make it down here this weekend! If you do, try hard to arrive before 1030 am, as we have a guy coming into show us some historical places, things and more. You will be somewhat of a celebrity for the locals who follow you. I would really love to bring my hammock and join you on this creek here my friend. Its awesome. cheers
Beautiful creek, you look so happy, and you seem like a very smart man. Also, I live a few minutes from piru creek but I haven’t been there since I was a teenager! I enjoyed seeing it in video tho. I wish I was brave enough to go but I’m afraid I’ll get lost.
Love the video Ken, sorry it took so long for me to watch it. But we have our 6 year old grandson most of the time. I am glad to see you out having fun camping again my brother.
Thanks for watching and commenting. No problem; grandchildren always come first. I think about you every day…. And wake up to your painting of me swinging next to Lake Travis. Fond memories…
Good to see another great video. Hope everyone is ok Beautiful scenery I always love the night sky and sunrise segments. Hope to see some camp cookery in the future Be careful negotiating those rocks. Very easy to twist something or fall. Thanks for the video and look forward to the next one
Thanks for watching and commenting Max. I'm still learning how to do camp cooking when when no fires are allowed (due to drought and high fire danger). Solar cookers are something I've played with as a kid.... and may be perfect. Stay tuned... Peace, Ken
Thanks, Ken. That place looks great to hike/camp at. Your hammock setup is cool. Hopefully I’ll get some time off work to check the area out. Peace, Ken. ✌️ PS: I always love the night scenes.

What a nice video! Thanks. How many miles have you done on this creek? I understand it is 19.5 miles from Pyramid lake to Piru lake. This was during the spring? or late spring?
Thanks Kyle. I walked about 6 hours to get to place where I camped. However, there are many beautiful place for backpack camping closer to the parking lot. Closest is about 30 minutes walk on the trail going west (downstream) of the outhouse.
Yes, I learned what you suggest when I was a Boy Scout 70 years ago. It works ; however it is no longer considered a good practice because of increasing erosion, in heavily used areas. Also tents were made from canvas; no longer.. now days most everything is made from plastic zz which is more damage than traditional methods. Did you know all animals and plants now contain small particles of plastic. Even rocks that are forming today contain plastic. Much more damaging than traditional camping methods
Yes, I made it from a small child’s shovel, by adding a crossbar. It is very strong and stronger for rock scrambling than traditional trekking poles. It is designed base on the ancient Roman Furca. I made several videos two years ago on this tool
Nice place to hide at if you ever become homeless.. have you ever thought about doing videos like that.. pretending you're homeless.. maybe you can give some tips to people that are actually homeless.. maybe they can blend in more especially if they're out in the woods..
Yes, years ago I went stealth bike camping, had my beard long and was mistaken for being homeless…. Interesting and scary…. Needless to say my purpose was to sharpen survival skills
@@KennethKramm what about the big cities I know it's got to be a problem in the big cities.. being remote would be no problem for somebody like me but I've been camping since the age of 10.. being a woman I would prefer to be out in the middle of nowhere you know.. because a lot of homeless women fall victim to Violet crimes that's sick but it happens
@@katelee670 I am familiar with many places that are remote... mostly in the desert . Although this location is close to big cities, it is hard hike, after the first few miles, at the trails are barely trails with extensive rock scrambling , the further you go. Most folks are concerned about mountain lions, bears and rattlesnakes.
What a sweet hike you took...never did I know that even was there and I lived so close for years in San Fernando...I think to myself wow look at all those fishing holes you found...I got to find a few...
