Megabass Karashi smokes the small mouth bass up in the great lakes too. It stays near the top and you can burn it. Shallow running spybaits in perch colors are great too.
Best post of yours in a long time. Normally I shut them off as soon as I hear FFS. Very informative right to the end. I’m new to the jerk bait fishing, so I’ll try the retrieve on our Ontario smallmouth. I did buy the mat Shad colors you recommended a few months ago; can’t wait to try them for our season opening tournament here in Ontario Canada. Thank you sir, looking forward to seeing more of these types of videos. Cheers and good luck with your boat search. Oh, maybe next video on spy baits??
Same area here 🇨🇦 Can confirm I got one of my biggest blue gill on one but no luck w the small mouths so far 😂 i did tip it w a worm though so I was asking for it
Thanks Randy! Appreciate you taking the time to share with everyone. You do a great job. Would be interesting to get your opinion on deeper jerk bait fishing...>9 feet. 😎
Just what I needed Randy, thank you for the detail explanation and techniques for Smallmouth in your 1st section. I will be using your advice and tips on Lake St Clair next month...👍👍👍👍
Totally agree about fishing it shallow. In my case, when largemouth are schooling, my longest pause is when the jerkbait first hits the water. In fact, I've put away my flukes and fish the jerkbait much the way I'd retrieve a fluke. And for some reason, the jerkbait produces bigger fish (most of them 3+ pounds).
I live right by the Susquehanna River and I fish that for smallmouth. For years I used a small Yozuri 78 jerk bait and worked it erratically in the summer. Caught tons of small mouth doing that
Hello! Randy! It's late July in Indiana. Bass here are hard to catch after the 4th of July.. My Local Walmart is my lure buying place as a Bank Fisherman. The grass is 2 ft below the surface so I am limited to what baits I can use. Found a couple of Ozarktrail jekbaits. Two treble hooks. Tried them out and caught 3 largies in a row. The 7 ft rod's are to long from the bank. I was jerking the baits with the rod tip down. It was hitting the ground alot. A MH FAST was o.k. But I just switched to a 6' 10 medium fast spinning rod. Then started to twitch the rod side ways just below my shoulders. Wow! It's alot of work to Jerkbait fish. But the spinning outfit casts better and is lighter than a baitcaster rod setup. Never fished jerbaits before. But I enjoy something different. The Hybird Hunter Jr. Is a great grass bait also. Thanks Randy for your expert advice. You have helped me alot in Bass fishing. Your knowledge is second to none. To Hell with FFS! It will ruin Bass fishing! Look what happened to Nascar and the NBA. Went to shit! I will never use FFS. They went to far! Robots aren't far behind. Shawn from Indiana.
My biggest issue is that my local water is super stained ( less than 2’ of visibility). I’ve gotten bit in the winter when the water clears but summer visibility makes the area that the bait can attract fish smaller.
Personally, I always thought of jerkbaits as equal opportunity warm and cold weather lures. Then again, that is at least one of the reasons why I'm not a pro angler :-)

Thanks, Randy! The silent ones are like throwing a whiffle ball. Love jerkbaits all year!!
Thank you sir, for sharing your knowledge and experience!
I love this channel and this video dropped at exactly the right time!
Jerkbaits are one of those lures like a jig nomatter what got to throw it a few cast just to see if they want it.
Thanks!
Thank you, man! That’s very generous!

I just tied on a 110+ type bait, table rock shad for next weekend
Pittsburgh Classic
So in the shallow dirty water on TVA lakes were you also throwing the silent 110 or the regular 110? Great video thanks!
Is that a photo of General McCarther shaking hands with your dad on that photo?
only randy can false cast with a jerkbait on a spinning rod 💪🏾

Chipping paint, cheap hooks, unreliable hooks, cheap lips, cheap plastic, cheap split ring, over-priced, overrated....
Cool story, just buy them then. Leaves more for the rest of us👍
@@richardbossman9875 I'm not. Will never be stupid.
