Oh wow I can’t believe I actually found one that’s missing: Dairoku: Agents of Sakuratani score 6.67 An Otome game with the same raiting as Bunny Garden, and clearly so little talked about in the community that it’s completely absent for this list XD
@@vicpon3014 I know of a few visual novels that are not on this list, but I think they are digital only. There's one on my mind, unfortunately, half the name of it is completely in Japanese, so, I cannot say the full name, but I can say the other half of the name: "~Becoming a She~", it's a visual novel of a male, who develops a fictional body condition known as "gender-reversal disorder" which in a year, he'll fully become a female. And only finds out his condition when seeing himself looking extremely feminine. To the point he's near impossible to tell from a girl. So, to prepare him for his inevitable fate, he starts going to a girl only school, and wearing female clothes types, while deceiving the girls around him till his "transformation" is complete. As I'm one to not typically play visual novels, I didn't buy nor play it. Because of that, I'm only going off on screenshots and the description of it, on the Switch Eshop. The company that published that visual novel publishes a ton of lewd anime-style visual novels. Digimon Survive however, I bought and beat one playthrough of it, as it's tied to a franchise I love, while at the same time, having actual gameplay rather than only visual novel aspects, and, let's just say, somebody's going to die on the first playthrough, no matter what you do. It has a rough translation sure, but it's easy to understand what the game is trying to tell you. Even if it fails with the translation. Characters sometimes being referred to by the wrong pronouns for example. I WISH I was into visual novels, I really do. But, if I'm going to read a visual novel with no actual gameplay, I may as well read manga instead.

Thanks so much! I've officially added them, hopefully UA-cam will allow it because I think only 100 are allowed. I'll see how it goes, if they still don't show up i'll have to group some of them up together.
Amazing VN video, Jordan! This video was definitely a massive undertaking, and I appreciate the research and effort you put into it. I recently moved to Japan and my biggest difficulty with Switch collecting is determining what games are playable in English. This video has helped so much, and I’ve added at least 10 of these on my list to scavenger hunt for in the shops over here.
I just want to say I really appreciate that your channel is all inclusive and doesn't leave out otome games. It always seems like VN channels either talk about everything BUT otome or ONLY otome. As for Paradigm Paradox, it's just not romantic enough for the community. For the amount of love interests it has the game is too short - at least that's what I heard. I own it but haven't played it yet. I actually did get the physical version because it was 70% off haha.
You and Meirin are legends. So happy to see this video. My love for VN's come from both of you guys and I'm so thankful for spreading the gospel of VNs
Relatively new to VN games, and your video helps out a TON. Currently working on the Utawarerumono series (even tho that's PS4). Here's to hoping that one day Higurashi Hou gets an English-friendly Switch version... That's my wish for the Switch...
Thanks for the video. I'm new to VNs I recently picked up a few... Just don't know where to start.. after watching this video I at least have an idea a where I might.
I forgot to mention you missed another BL VN coming to Switch physically September 2nd. Asian release, Voice Love on Air. I found it through Playasia awhile ago and have it preordered. So there are 3 BLs with English.
As a heads up, I went into VNDB to add the physical copy of Sentimental Death Loop since it was logged as digital only. I guess doing that brought it up to the attention of the mods, who decided it wasn't a visual novel and deleted it from the database lol
I grabbed Tsukihime limited edition on Switch before they are hard to find. I just purchased Fate/Stay Night on the switch a few minutes ago. Your list is spot on. The top 5 has my top 4 with The House in Fata Morgana being the best. Great video.
Finally finished and yep, Im up to date! XD I may need to get a copy of Kanon once it has english but I own everything else or have it preordered/on my list to order when available. Thank yooooou ♡♡♡ I enjoy your work and appreciate the time and dedication put into videos.
Since I only know the popular visual novels and primarily read on the Nintendo Switch, I find this video incredibly valuable. It's by far the best video about visual novel reviews. However, I wish you had included visual novels with digital releases. I would love to see your reviews of Paranormasight, Famicom 1 and 2, Nekopara, Fate/stay night, and others.
Great video. Maybe I’m in the minority but I enjoyed elite more than the original steins;gate. Also glad to see raging loop so high. It’s an underrated but awesome VN and I also enjoyed the ending.
my favourite VN is .... If My Heart Had Wings. Great story - played it on PC, Android and of course I have a physical release on Switch. Truly recommend it! Unique story about teenagers trying to build / revive the school's glider-flying club :)
This is a pretty good list, kind of wish there was a couple of the digital only VNs but I know if you added them the video would have been 4 hours long. I'm somewhat surprise by the rating some I agree with but a few I don't like Neo cab should have a lower rating.
Tokyo School Life is mainly aimed at learning Japanese, it’s a very very good game for that. Also, looking forward to your review of the just released Fate Stay Night 😄
Not a straight vn has some strategy rpg in it but 13 sentinels aegis rim is where I started and is a really good sci-fi storyline then I jumped into tsukihime piece of blue glass moon and that is a just a straight vn I would recommend it if you like horror and a sad story.
ps. I just noticed Seven Days is missing for some reason (the video is otherwise super complete!!). The Japanese import has English and the VN is surprisingly funny (even tho it has horror elements in it, it sports a lot of humour too).
It's because it wasn't out on the Switch when I first started researching the video. By the time I got around to finishing it off, I forgot to add it, so it slipped through the net. It'll be in next time.
I have 5 of the top 7 in this list. I think I have 14 on this list. Out of all the visual novels in this list that I don't have, which is a lot (lol), I'm most interested in getting Root Double: Before Crime.
The ace attorney series is and will always be a great experience i dont regret buying the ds or switch versions of it though im a little bias on the ds version
I played steins;gate and the sequel on the Vita. It is amazing. My other favorite VN is 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors for the DS. I like the art style better than the updated version. I played Witch on the Holy Night and even though I played to completion I only thought it was ok. I quit playing Chaos;head after a couple hours.
Top VN on Switch is easily Muv Luv Alternative, with Tsukihime a pretty close second. If I were to put together a top 5, it would be Muv Luv Alternative, Tsukihime, Fruit of Grisaia, Fate/Stay Night, Steins;Gate.
Wow! So sad that Undead Darlings is so low on the list. It actually is a great mix of RPG and VN. Battle system and inventory management is kind of weird at first, but you get used to it. I also believe it got a patch to balance out the difficulty 😢
I guess I’ll be sticking with Ace Attorney, Chrono Cross (I love Jrpgs, so I’d probably get this game for that, rather than the VN side of it), and Tsukihime for the first few VN that I plan to buy for now. I wasn’t expecting a lot of otome and stuff that I don't really care about. I was hoping that VN would be the genre that complements jrpgs for me, but I don’t think it will. I’d probably enjoy all of the games I mentioned and some of the titles with anime, like Clannad, but it is disappointing to see very few non-otome games with high ratings.
I wish the other Memories Off VNs were on the Switch in English. I want those ones. Would you ever make a video with all the physical VNs on the Switch not in English? How many would be in that list?
Haha bursting out laughing at your commentary for Chrono Cross. "It is a good visual novel but you're gonna have to buy the full blown JRPG along with it" 😂
Variable Barricade deserves better. It’s a really funny VN even for me who isn’t much into Otome. Did you miss If my heart had wings or did I miss it among all the games you mentioned? That game along with Katawa Shojo got me into VNs. I first got it on steam but then physical both on Switch (limited edition from play Asia) and PC (picked the physical PC version up for just 2 bucks used).
48:43 I gonna crash in here and say why Crimson Flower isn’t talked about much on the Switch. From all the stuff I have heard about it, the Switch version is a very disappointing and confusing and the VN should be played on PC with the R-18 stuff that was simply cut out for the Switch version. Since a lot of those scenes are rather essential to the plot apparently, you’re left very confused without them. So the high score is most likely also thanks to the R-18 version on PC and not the cut Switch version. Usually I don’t give much about H-scenes in my VNs (I like the ecchi but H-scenes I don’t mind missing) but hearing how confusing it might be without said scenes on the Switch it’s actually an Otome game I skipped buying on the system.
This site might not be getting a lot of reviews considering some like Radiant Tale, Konosuba, Digimon Survive, & Worlds end syndrome often get much higher ratings than that
I would love to get physical visual novels, but a lot of them are All Ages versions... it's almost impossible to patch the game without hacking the Switch, something I do not wanna do. So the only physical games I get are ones where 18+ content isn't a necessity.
@@PhysicalParadise I've thought about that. But also I tend to stick to a rule that if a game has a North American release I stick to buying thar version. Mostly it's consistency and OCD that all my games look similar.
hello. I'm looking for a VN game to play on switch or ps5 or PC with a Japanese friend. that has both japanese and english text on screen at the same time. i found a list of around 15 games on redi7 and they mostly look horrendous. these all look better. and there seems to be many available. but doesn't seem to detail if there are any specifically with both Japanese and English text. could you perhaps recommend a few if possible would be massively appreciative o/ thank you
I miss Meirin, Katy Pajama and Miss Hellal (don't remember her first name). The many the people, the many the points of view. In critic diversity is better.
Meirin has his own channel, but he also contributed to this video. Katie is writing a video topic right at this moment. Sadly I have lost contact with Miss Hellal
As I said, from the time I started this project (a couple of months back) the scores will have changed. Many of them slightly, a few of them drastically due to lack of gradings at the time. For example if one game only had 5 gradings at the time, that means the average can be very easily swayed by a few more.
@@PhysicalParadise Thank you for your reply, I asked because I noticed that Muv Luv Alternative has been in first place for years with 9, and for months it has been in second place with a rank of 8.99.
Finally!!! great video!!! The rating is absurd but VNDB readers must clearly be otome fanatics… how can u place Vampire the Masquerade or dolkidoki at 6 and the totally horrid b-project written by chargpt at 8 is beyond comprehension…
Ps. Barney lake and the pixel pulps came out already in EU for meridian games.. I was reading it just this eve. At 1st impression it seams pretty good stuff… but of course no romance or slice of life crap so on VNDB it’d be a 6 ;)
@@purelysmetalnightcore no no no, not the demo and if u people do not believe me download it and try! That game is written by AI as no even the best politician could ever write 4k words and say absolutely nothing (and I mean free ChatGPT, not Claude!). Listen VNs are an art form and these commercial projects made with AI for a quick buck (especially in the otome space, the most profitable in the west) are hacking the game: someone that reads B-Project thinking it's one of the best VNs out there will never buy another VN in his/her life. Whether u like the game or not or whether or not it is otome (I never said it was), it is inconceivable that such a game scores better than Danganronpa or Raincode or Root Letter.
@n3r0n3 The game came out years ago, before everyone was panicking about AI. It just only now got an English release. I haven't heard any complaints about the localization from anyone. B-Project has always been a weird and goofy series that goes from realistic and down to earth to a rival idol is possessed by a ronin that was killed by a member of the Shinsengumi. People like the quirkiness.
@@purelysmetalnightcore listen I have only played the demo this said for me Disgaea or Neptunia are goofy.. Code Realise or Piofiore are goofy in their postmodern pastiche... but I honestly do not see what is whacky or quirky about this one. All right naturally no-one gets a job for writing a nonsensical signage in a record shop but is it fun having to read 40 minutes before the game manages to tell u that? I dunno I am a busy man and the writing is obviously bloated here, u agree right? . I collect VNs and I am not prejudiced ..I will have to buy this one too 4 my collection. What I am saying I find unacceptable that a game like this scores higher than some examples of masterful writing that get a 6. That was my point.

Well put together video my man👍
Oh wow I can’t believe I actually found one that’s missing:
Dairoku: Agents of Sakuratani score 6.67
An Otome game with the same raiting as Bunny Garden, and clearly so little talked about in the community that it’s completely absent for this list XD
thank you for the timestamps!
@PhysicalParadise, I hope these timestamps will help.

Thanks so much! I've officially added them, hopefully UA-cam will allow it because I think only 100 are allowed. I'll see how it goes, if they still don't show up i'll have to group some of them up together.
Thanks for the shot-out Jordan, appreciate it! Great video too, and also long live the copyright love geometry lol
Finally it is here! I was waiting for this one since you announced it in a past video🤩
Damn, about 1 hour and 30+ min of Switch vn contents selection. Loved this channel, keep up the good work
getting into VNs and this is exactly what i need to build a solid switch VN library! thank you for the effort :)
great video, thank you!! def laughed at every “my girlfriend is a mermaid?” mention
This is quite possibly the greatest video on UA-cam.
I was looking for a proper list for vn games for switch, thank you very much for this organized list.
this video was very informative and helpful for making purchases, thank you :)
You and Meirin are legends. So happy to see this video. My love for VN's come from both of you guys and I'm so thankful for spreading the gospel of VNs
Insane work, thank you
Hope it’s useful 😊
42:17 "Steam Prison" me trying to get through my backlog lol
Relatively new to VN games, and your video helps out a TON. Currently working on the Utawarerumono series (even tho that's PS4). Here's to hoping that one day Higurashi Hou gets an English-friendly Switch version... That's my wish for the Switch...
you and me both 🙏
@@raye48 meee toooo🤞🤞
Thanks for the video. I'm new to VNs I recently picked up a few... Just don't know where to start.. after watching this video I at least have an idea a where I might.
Thanks a lot for this. I really appreciate the detailed scores!
Subbed. This list. Wow. I’ll be watching this later when I can.
I forgot to mention you missed another BL VN coming to Switch physically September 2nd. Asian release, Voice Love on Air. I found it through Playasia awhile ago and have it preordered. So there are 3 BLs with English.
I believe pre-orders have only just opened. I saw it previously but it was just a placeholder at that time. Thanks for the reminder though.
As a heads up, I went into VNDB to add the physical copy of Sentimental Death Loop since it was logged as digital only.
I guess doing that brought it up to the attention of the mods, who decided it wasn't a visual novel and deleted it from the database lol
Wow such an amazing job Im going to add this to my favorites. Great job Jorden.
This was amazing, thanks for doing this video.
You got me every time you said "My Girlfriend is a Mermaid?!?" 😂
I grabbed Tsukihime limited edition on Switch before they are hard to find. I just purchased Fate/Stay Night on the switch a few minutes ago. Your list is spot on. The top 5 has my top 4 with The House in Fata Morgana being the best. Great video.
Don't think it's exactly his list, just the official review scores ordered from worst to best.
@xKayNee Yes, you are right. The one that I couldn't get into was Jack Jeanne. I may have to give it a second chance.
Oh thanks for this list. I havent checked yet but Im collecting all physical VNs with English so I can see if Im missing any... xD Lets gooooo!
Finally finished and yep, Im up to date! XD I may need to get a copy of Kanon once it has english but I own everything else or have it preordered/on my list to order when available.
Thank yooooou ♡♡♡ I enjoy your work and appreciate the time and dedication put into videos.
Wow that's really impressive!
@@PhysicalParadise A lot of it was keeping up with your updates on VNs! Thank yooooou ♡♡♡
Finally! This is my guide in buying physical VN copies. Thank you very much for this video!❤❤❤
goated list! thanks for all your work!
Jordan you are hired, take over for Siri to guide my VN journeys. I need your knowledge.😂 Great work here, and I mean work. Thank you.
Any idea if Muv Luv will get a reprint?
I am not a VN fan, but I am putting this on in the background while I work to support you. :)
Same😅
Thanks a lot! :)
Oh, I just realized that your channel is about physical copies..
Welcome to Physical Paradise 😃
Thanks for the video 🙏✨
Great video. Maybe I’m in the minority but I enjoyed elite more than the original steins;gate. Also glad to see raging loop so high. It’s an underrated but awesome VN and I also enjoyed the ending.
Nice! Thanks for the vid
Thanks for the awesome video
I got through the whole video! Steins Gate are games I own on VITA so when I do try a VN I will start there. Great video. Now do it with RPGs haha
my favourite VN is .... If My Heart Had Wings. Great story - played it on PC, Android and of course I have a physical release on Switch. Truly recommend it!
Unique story about teenagers trying to build / revive the school's glider-flying club :)
You absolute f**king legend
This is a pretty good list, kind of wish there was a couple of the digital only VNs but I know if you added them the video would have been 4 hours long. I'm somewhat surprise by the rating some I agree with but a few I don't like Neo cab should have a lower rating.
Tokyo School Life is mainly aimed at learning Japanese, it’s a very very good game for that. Also, looking forward to your review of the just released Fate Stay Night 😄
Been thinking about buying my first VN. I definitely appreciate this list
Hope it helps!
Great decision xD
What do you plan playing as your first?
There's so many that I might have to watch this 2 or 3 times. Do you have a recommendation
Steins; Gate is a great gateway drug into the world of VNs, pun intended
THANK you . MORGANA IS BEATIFUL
wow I really celebrate this video.
so far my favorite is Aokana.
Agreed on muv luv i just finished it on vita
Oh no, my exact niche 😳
This site might not be getting a lot of reviews considering some like Radiant Tale, Konosuba, Digimon Survive, & Worlds end syndrome often get much higher ratings than that
Wild how the bottom three are games I own 😂
Great work, thank you!
Stains;Gate is a good story but far from the best.
I can't understand why is considered so highly
I would love to get physical visual novels, but a lot of them are All Ages versions... it's almost impossible to patch the game without hacking the Switch, something I do not wanna do. So the only physical games I get are ones where 18+ content isn't a necessity.
Better off sticking with PC in that case
Does anyone know if Tsukihime will be restocked soon? Everywhere I look it is currently sold out.
There's also an option of the Asian or Japanese version. That has english too.
@@PhysicalParadise I've thought about that. But also I tend to stick to a rule that if a game has a North American release I stick to buying thar version. Mostly it's consistency and OCD that all my games look similar.
hello. I'm looking for a VN game to play on switch or ps5 or PC with a Japanese friend. that has both japanese and english text on screen at the same time. i found a list of around 15 games on redi7 and they mostly look horrendous. these all look better. and there seems to be many available. but doesn't seem to detail if there are any specifically with both Japanese and English text. could you perhaps recommend a few if possible would be massively appreciative o/ thank you
ranked mystery VNs please.
I just noticed that Eternal Radiance is not on the list
I felt it was too much of an action game to include
@@PhysicalParadise it was more of a visual novel than an action RPG
It doesn't have an entry on VNDB at all.
I miss Meirin, Katy Pajama and Miss Hellal (don't remember her first name). The many the people, the many the points of view. In critic diversity is better.
Meirin has his own channel, but he also contributed to this video. Katie is writing a video topic right at this moment. Sadly I have lost contact with Miss Hellal
no seven days? or did i just miss it?
Ah, it wasn't out on the Switch when I first started researching the video. So it slipped through the net.
Huh, I have the worst and the best.
Am I wrong or the scores are pretty differenti from vndb?
There not based on those
As I said, from the time I started this project (a couple of months back) the scores will have changed.
@@jasonl.7170 He said they are...
This isn't anything I'm curious about. You do a great job though
Re: Shinjuku Soumei - it appears G-Mode cheaped out on the localization. It’s extremely poor, almost to a comedic degree.
Must have been a lot of Work.
Finally!!! great video!!!
At 1st impression it seams pretty good stuff… but of course no romance or slice of life crap so on VNDB it’d be a 6 ;)
The B-Project game isn't an otome, it's josei. And it's fun and goofy.
