I don’t know why some people think that music shouldn’t sound as good as it makes you feel. I’m from the 60’s and the standard for real music to me is playing instruments, real singing vocals, a good sound composition and the good vibes or deep thought it invokes within me. It doesn’t matter what the tempo of the song. “Lessons in Love” by Level 42 is one of the greatest produced songs in Music.
Agreed. I got into metal in late 80ies and had forgotten about this gem, so that when I first, accidentally, heard it after many years, it felt like coming home. Many great 80ies hits, but something about this one and "Something about you", the atmosphere, the feel ... just amazing.
Dope song.... Definitely takes me back Almost makes me forget Reagan, the crack epidemic, AIDS/HIV, the mafia, the breaking of unions and offshoring.... Ahhh the memories!!!😜
I was a young teen when this album came out. So many memories listening to this song. I can't begin to explain the combination of joy and also the wistful nostalgic deep pain at not being able to go back to that time. My beautiful mother (who has passed) was alive and in HER PRME in the mid 80s, and I was having so much fun at that time. I miss it so much.
My friend.....living in the past and feeling that sweet but sad feeling of nostalgia is depression in disguise and nothing more. Yes, it is good to appreciate our past and to preserve the memories of earlier years, but if you are finding yourself constantly living in the past then you aren't truly living in the here and now. Your wonderful Mother would not want you to dwell on the past, but instead would want you to move forward taking the valuable things she and others taught you into the future. I know it's easier said than done, but it can be done and what I am referring to is you gaining the strength and ability to get out of the rut you have found yourself in. You will have to probably try anything that will be a paradigm shift in your way of thinking and your general approach to EVERYTHING. That may be a little extreme for me to say, but I do believe that you are going to have to step out of your comfort zone. The present and the uncertainty of the future doesn't have to be scary. It can be exciting but that is just a matter of perspective. You should talk to friends or anyone that will listen about this nostalgia that you have and are so fixated on. I can tell that this is the case because of your comment and because of your screen name "some other time." Forgive me for offering advice when you never asked for it. I know better than anyone that I'm not the wisest person by any measure although I wish to gain wisdom more than anything else in the world. I just recognized in your words feelings I've had myself and I know how painful it is when a person is thinking the Way You are and I thought I would share my thoughts on this in the hope that you might see value in a change of perspective just because I don't want you to be depressed as I was. I still am a victim of depression to this very day, but only for a short time because now I recognize it for what it is and even recognize those things that are signals or warnings that the blues are coming to town and upon recognizing these cues I act accordingly so as to prevent. I probably am not making sense as I am using talk to text on my phone, but hopefully you catch my drift. I have love for you and I don't even know you.
I reside on Guam. We are lucky here that the corporate top-40 radio has not taken over, as it is such a small market. There are 4 radio stations that still play music from the 1970s-1990s. I'm not proud, I was wrong
And the truth is hard to take
I felt sure we had enough
But our love went overboard
Lifeboat lies lost at sea
I've been trying to reach your shore
Waves of doubt keep drowning me
All the dreams that we were building
We never fulfilled them
Could be better, should be better
For lessons in love
For restless eyes, egos burn
And the mold is hard to break
Now we've waded in too deep
And love is overboard
Heavy hearts, token words
All the hopes I ever had
Fade like footprints in the sand
All the homes that we were building
We never lived in
Could be better, should be better
Lessons in love
If we lose the time before us
The future will ignore us
We should use it, we could use it, yeah
Lessons in love
Lost without love
Lessons in love
When will you ever learn
Lessons in love
When there's nowhere left to turn
Lessons in love
Don't let your spirit burn
Lessons in love
I'll wait 'till you return
All the dreams that we were building
We never lived them
We should use it, we could use it, yeah
For lessons in love
All the homes that we were building
We never lived in
Could be better, should be better
Lessons in love
If we lose the time before us
The future will ignore us
We should use it, we could use it, yeah

Damm....the quality and variety of music at that time was incredible.....not sure if we’ll ever get that again.....it’s a blessing to have YT as a time capsule.
Peace
Don't forget spotify,tidal
AMEN 🌀👁️🗨️🔺🔺🔺 UA-cam great work keep it going just a little longer
Not likely. The factors that allowed for the breath of the music cannot be recreated
The 80's music, the best one ever!
Yes 80s And 90s Music Never Get Old ;Still Beautiful
The 70s say hold my BEERS ,,
I loved this band. The ‘70’s and ‘80’s were the best. I wish I had a Time Machine. 😢❤
Just Turned 55 and love the 80's...the music, the whole future ahead for me and my Mets won the WS in 1986!!! LGM!!!
This gem is 80s sound at its pinnacle, with its synthetic sounds filling the acoustic to perfection... Enjoy it today's girls and boys!
Crazy!... that I'm still alive.
My history... Great! And Sad..of never having fulfilled my hopes of loving someone.
Awww
BEST CANNOT STOP SINGING!!! ❤️ from 🇨🇴
It 's my favouriti song number 1 forever!LEVEL 42 FOREVER 👍🎧🔊🎶🎧👽
If I could turn back the clock, I'd go back to the 80s when life was simpler, easier, and definitely a lot more fun.

Me too. Eightees were the best years of my life
Yeah, we could snort coke all day, grope women, and laugh at AIDS jokes.
Totally agree. Nostalgia for simpler times!
❤️ Bass
Listening to this once is never enough. God i love the way this song is played and produced.
Best decade of best music ever hands down, the 80s ever, highly enjoyed😊
This was one of my Dad's favorite songs,I miss him so much❤❤❤ this one is for you dad😢
I am in my 6th decade of life & the 80's was the best out of all of them. Listening to songs from this time is bittersweet because of what we as a culture have become since then is sad.
Your words are very true. As a gen xer I appreciate a baby boomer who has respect for our decade. Thank you.
You watch....history repeats itself, and we shall enjoy the 80's again !
Agreed.
@@richardlahan7068 if you love the 80's check out the temptations and Rick James "standing on the top",
Make a strong coffee, and crank this baby !
Ignorance was bliss, wasn’t it?
Mark is royalty! This band is so tight it's ridiculous. I grew up in the 80's and didn't appreciate this group till later in life. I want to go back
Mark Kings slap bass style is so unique and gave Level 42 it's style.. Such an underrated band of their time. Bands back then had such talent.. not like some of the hurry come up artists of today that come 20 years from now we'll be saying.. "Who were they"?? Lol
"Lifeboat lies lost at sea, I've been trying to reach your shore"....I've always LOVED that line!!! Lol
This never goes out of style for me and I'm only 38 years old but I listened to this because it was the music my parents listened to
You have super cool parents!!!
I’m 24 and same reason 😊
I'm homesick and I'm going back to the 80's..Anyone else wanna come? 🎧♥️
One of the most underrated comments here, maybe on UA-cam. If you find a way to go, count me in.
@@supremeobliterator Thank You for that! Still working on my time machine! I'll keep you posted! 🎧😎
