The wireless charging complaint is so ridiculous on a OnePlus device when they give you ACTUAL fast charging AND the CHARGER IN THE BOX. Wireless charging is far less efficient and more damaging to long term battery health. UA-cam reviewers make the same complaints all the time about OnePlus but don’t complain that Apple, Samsung and Google took chargers out of the box and didn’t complain when Apple took away the headphone jack. Wha about those folks who bought nice wired headphones or earbuds? Please keep the same energy for these other OEMs that everyone always seems to have for OnePlus. Other than that, good review. But the wireless charging thing is so irrelevant given everything else that OnePlus has on offer here

Plenty of UA-cam reviews complained at the removal of the charging plug but it's pointless to keep complaining about it, it's been removed. Wireless charging isn't being removed as a feature. I still agree Fast Wired charging is more useful.

I like OP because of how Oxygen OS works.

OOS has always been a very good bridge between stock android, a sprinkle of IOS and some cool unique features. I've had OP since the 6T, 8, 10 pro and just ordered the Open. A very underrated OS

@@robinslager2095 With Realme 240W charger and Xiaomi 300W charging breakthrough, going from 0 to 100% juice in 8 minutes or less should be praised loudly in the industry. With wireless charging you're still tethered to a docking station for a couple of hours or more. Like who needs wireless charging when your phone is ready to go in 8 minutes. I think if we prioritize fast charging then in 10 years we will see our phone fully charge in less then a minute. Wireless charging wouldn't matter.

I personally dont get how anyone uses wireless charging. I think OnePlus is just sticking their foot down and saying its pointless which it is. Wireless charge it for 1 hour to get the amount you can get in 5 min plugged.

    • @phandroid
      @phandroid  10 місяців тому

You obviously don't use wireless charging as it's intended to be used. Put a wireless charger on your desk and you just set your phone down on it after you use it each time. Your phone will have a full charge all the time without having to plug it in.

Great review there! I've recently changed to a OnePlus Open from a Pixel Fold (which I was pleased with) but this is on another planet. It resllys like a mini tablet when open, thanks to the lack of crease. Like yiu said, camera is very impressive. I tried the zoom module at 6x, then was just as impressed at 10x. Then I took a photo of a Robin at nearly 400mm full frame equivalent, it was still sharp with good detail. Certainly one of the best phones I've ever owned. Also, I must be one of the few without any wireless chargers. I do like the fast charging though.

I played around with my mother's zfold 4 and realized how cool fold phones are after not wanting one for so long. I wasn't compelled to buy a fold phone until I saw the OnePlus Open is a thing now. I then decided to sell my ROG phone 7 to have money toward this phone and I'm glad. I also realized that I don't game on my phones as much as I thought I would so having a gaming centric phone is a bit pointless. I do have some smartphone specific gaming controllers so this new setup with the OnePlus open will be much better.

Only thing I disagree with here is your comments on wireless charging.
    1. Wireless charging hasn't changed much since its inception, the only real change is that Apple jumped on board and brought magsafe to the table.
    2. Speeds are tragically slow
    3. The device is basically unusable while charging, as soon as you pick it up you break the cycle.
Years ago I thought it was great but as time went on my wireless chargers went in a drawer due to the convenience of wired charging. One Plus takes that convenience factor to a completely different level.
I think we need to start letting go of the wireless narrative until the tech starts to catch-up; a 3+ hour charge just aint it!!

I drive a moto with a 68 watt charger and it charges in like 10 minutes from halfway to full. Take a shower and it's charged. Why would I ever want a 15W wireless that would take an eternity. I never said that 9 out of 10 people had wireless chargers. I said 9 out of 10 people who will buy THIS phone. There is a huge distinction between the two. Anyone willing to spend this much money on a phone is a tech enthusiast AND early adopter who is willing to spend money on new tech. That includes wireless chargers, which have been around for a decade. Just because you don't have one or use one doesn't mean others don't.

@@NexxoExxon S22 ultra really was a pathetic device. Power hungry, overheat and less battery life. The 8 gen 1 made by Samsung foundry and again they are trying to put crap Exynos in S 24 and S24 plus. Really pathetic. I am thinking to exchange my secondary device S23 to op12 , not much budget.

I've been using a OP7Pro so the wireless charging thing isn't too big of an issue for me. Excited for the Open coming in the mail!

I would say the zoom is only good to about 20x though anything more and it's Digital and bad like forget the 120x zoom capturing anything decent

Whats funny and hilarious is that Google and Samsung claimed their hinge on the Google pixel fold on the z fold 4 and 5 have the best and strongest hinge but many customers have reported that their foldable phones have broken due to the hinge problems. I thought both Google and Samsung said their hinges were strong enough, but both companies have completely failed
