      I know this is an older video now, but I have to ask. I was looking at buying the 2L 2002 model a few days ago but the chassis "straps"? For lack of a better term needed replacing. It's the bars under the car in all four corners. Any idea where I could get my hands on all four of them? It was the only thing stopping me from the purchase

      I have since spoken to my local dealer who have me part numbers and told me those parts are unobtainium now. They are called "Box Reinforcements". I found rears at a local scrapyard but still require fronts however.. I've committed to buying the car and need to figure out how to reset the roof as the battery went dead while operating it and the previous owner had to manually close it, now it doesn't open lol

    Thank you for your review ♥. im a happy owner of a 2004 109HP 206cc. just love its tiny size and turn radius while still having amenities like lowering the roof, seat heating and a good pull for the low hp. i honestly was kinda confused when u said, that it speeds up slow at traffic lights, cause i did experience quite the opposite. When i had this car newly i had to rethink my driving, cause the front tires were leaving rubber all the time and it just jumped right into the junction. its about three seconds to get it in third gear in my experience.
    the major downside of this car is accessibillity of spare parts. depends on where you live, but be warned, that Peugeot itself dosent produce its parts anymore (might be diffrent in other models than my 04 one), so you better have a high number of old ones in junkyards. Its an absolutely fun car to drive and feels like a glove, love its close cornering and speedy curves. i dont have to reconsider if a parking spot might fit, i feel if it does, or dosent.
    Also those calling it a womens car are quite right, especcially in the summer, women will prefer it over any closed one. They like it, and i like that they do 🤭.

    I got a 206 sw from 2002 with the same engine.
    It's super reliable, when I changed the valve cover gaskets earlier this year, the camshafts looked like new after 200k km, no sludge, not even a stain on the lobes😱
    Parts are also cheap and plentiful, a set of front brakes (rotors&pads) is like 60€ and it's quite easy to work on, you don't need a computer for basic repairs like in modern cars. Timing belt and water pump + accessory belt kit was 160€ and 3 hours of chill work and it's only due every 10 years or 100k km. Compare that to a newer 1.2 puretech engine where the timing belt needs to be replaced at least every 50k km because it's super fragile and will easily fail and destroy your engine ...
    Also, after over 25 years all weaknesses are already known : the unreliable Sagem ignition coilpacks (80€), dirty throttle valve (a good cleaning usually fixes this), the seems on the driver's seat breaking around the side airbag etc.
    Mine's now slowly showing the classic rear axle problems and will be getting a new one (320€) that I'll modify with grease nipples in order to extend the lifespan of the bearings

    • @CzechEngine
      @CzechEngine  6 місяців тому

      I have seen a few articles on the pure tech engine. Does seem the older pugs are far better built . My first car was a 205 and I loved that . Glad you still have a 206 and are enjoying it, and I hope the axle lasts out for a while for you . My best friend had a rear beam go on his Saxo and then on his 106 he replaced it with , rotten luck but he sorted it . Both lived on

    Both myself and my Partner have 1,6 ones. Previously had a 2.0 138, and I honestly don't think the extra power is worth the loss in fuel economy. For what you can pick these up for, they're brilliant fun little cars if you're going to do a lot of top down driving, then it's definitely worth looking out for a wind deflector. They really do make huge difference.

    Any idea about the discrepancy? That’s like two bucks’ difference every hundred kilometers! Perhaps the ECU in a 2005 car is smarter lol

    • @CzechEngine
      @CzechEngine  Рік тому

      Hi Simon , you might be onto something with that. I am not sure of how the previous owner used to drive, but the more I use the car and drive it , the higher the top speed and better the fuel economy gets . I am still getting low 40s but I average now about 44 , not been on motorway much with it. But I’ve seen a 25 mph top speed increase gradually and the car accelerates faster now than when I got it. Fingers crossed the MPG keeps going up ;)

    • @simonro9168

      @@CzechEngine Huh, that's interesting. What kind of fuel do you have over there? Cause here in Germany we inexplicably separate gasoline into "Super" (E5) and "Super E10". E10 contains more Ethanol, and an engine may use slightly more fuel, but that is offset by lower fossil fuel usage and a cheaper price at the pump. I personally have never noticed a difference between the two types. Perhaps 0.1L/100km, but that can be caused by the change in seasons, quite frankly.
      My previous owner used to drive from her apartment's garage to her office's garage, every workday for 19 years, quite a short distance, so by actually reaching operating temperature, I'm already below her fuel consumption, but the fact that you're using over one and a half liters less per 100km still makes me jealous lol

    • @CzechEngine
      @CzechEngine  Рік тому +1

      Hi Simon, we have E10 and Super Unleaded (which is still technically E5 with higher octane) .I usually do 2 tanks E10 to 1 Tank Super Unleaded. That is the only difference really I can think of, unless mine has had any work on the fuel mapping for ecomony rather than performance in the past maybe.

      I am in New Zealand, where I have a 2001 year, 160,000km, 206cc , ex import from Hong Kong. Mine has the 2 litre petrol engine and 5 speed manual gearbox. In my use I get about 28 miles per Imperial Gallon driving around our small city, and 42 miles per gallon on occasional country drives at 100kmh (our speed limit) . The Premium fuel here is 95 Octane and contains zero Ethanol at the moment. (Discussion point, should we even be turning Good Food into Bad/worse Fuel, just to make ourselves feel better about using less "fossil" fuels, although it wastes fossil fuels to grow the food, to waste that food by turning it into Ethanol ie "bad fuel" ! USAmerica seems to have far more fuel problems especially in older engines, such as small engines, generators and snow machines that use carburettors, etc, because of the Ethanol which is in their fuel, often at 10% or 15%. The government here is talking about mandating an Ethanol percentage in future. But the government doesn't car if everyone's lawnmower, classic car etc gets ruined with Ethanol.). You can enjoy that RED coloured car in Britain. I would call that colour "Sun-Fade Red" and in Australia that paintwork would look awful within 3 years of age, (assuming it parks outside for much of the day). In New Zealand it takes longer, between maybe 5 to 10 years, for Red coloured paint to get as thoroughly knackered by the Sun's rays. Here in NZ, and especially Australia, only buy cars which are White or Blue as they more effectively reflect away the UltraViolet part of Sunlight which causes paint to age prematurely.

Id reccomend to get it changed by a professional tho, since peugeot will need some adapters if you want it to be fully funcional. theres also an additional adapter-cable youll need for the sound control via steering wheel. while youre at it, consider changing the rear speakers, they tend to blow with new audio systems if theyre old. new back speakers are a nobrainer for 20-30 bucks tho.

      Also Stossdaempfer kennt man nicht?
      Und die Musik passt perfekt.
      Liebe Gruesse

    Very unreliable, you won't be able to sell it for how much you'll invest in it in parts and mechanics. Stay away from french cars if you want to remain sane.

      French cars being unreliable is a myth. It depends on which model you buy and how you treat it. There are PLENTY of stories of unreliable German or American cars. Peugeot is certainly not worse than Ford. My brand new BMW 318d (2016) had a number of issues where the car simply lost power and I had to limp back home with the engine in a kind of safety mode. It took a number of visits to the dealer (under warantee) to get it properly fixed. I also had 2 brand new Peugeots in 2005: zero problems. One of those ran perfectly for 13 years until it was lost in a accident.

      @@janickpauwels3792 I'm speaking from experience and also heard many other people agree that french cars are a money hole. In my country parts for them are hard to find be it new or used, mechanics also are used to work more on german cars so they f**k things up even more when trying to fix them or they simply say No to even work on them so you have to travel quite a long distance to find a mechanic that works or that has parts for them.
      Mine does it job of transporting you from A to B but have to invest in it big money every year or I'd have to sell it for scrap then.

      @@Alan-cl2ix In my experience here in Germany there’s tons of Peugeots and other french cars driving around, a lot of them because they tend to be relatively cheap, esp. compared to our domestic brands. Meaning there’s mechanics and spare parts readily available. And in my family we’ve had three variants of the Peugeot 206 (OG 206, 2003 206cc, 2012 206+) and it has proved itself to be mostly quite reliable. In total all we’ve needed to do was things that need to be done on any 10+ y/o car (timing chain, brakes, a little rust prevention, other routine maintenance). Only things in addition were replacement of a leaky radiator and a failed fan, the CC model’s AC doesn’t work anymore and the bottom of its engine seems to show the slightest little signs of oil leakage.
      This seems par for the course for a 20 year old car, I can’t speak to the reliability of other French cars, but at least with Peugeots we’ve had a decent experience. My mom’s brand new leased BMW failed its first TÜV inspection on multiple counts just three years after it rolled out of the factory.
