Made this tonight and added onion and celery with onion soup mix and it was the best roast I’ve ever had I think! Thank you!
With an extra cup of water too*
That onion soup mix is a game changer! I use it when I'm making homemade burgers too! Try it if you haven't.
sorry hi did you use the whole onion soup mix?
and did you do like high for 4 hours?
@@TheSchuyler1 I did. I did it on low for 8 hours. I think either would work but slow and low would probably be more tender. Good luck!
You get my like because you added a whole stick of butter. Appreciate that for sure🤤
Everyone in the comments missing the point about how easy this is and it tastes almost as good as the sear first, wine/shallot/onion yada yada with literally 5 mins of prep and one dirty pot compared to 30 mins of prep, 10 extra steps, and 5 dirtied cookware.
Pretty sure we all watched the video.. we knw it’s easy lol.
nah, gotta have the sear
Not searing a pot roast is the most diabolical thing anyone can do… really shows the lack of flavor some of yall have 😂
@@SasaUSilly just because something CAN have extra flavor doesn’t mean it always needs it, especially not pot roasts or stews. Do I like taking my time for nice meals? Yes. Will I settle for something simpler and faster? Absolutely.
@@ZmenitBussler to each their own
I would add onions not just powder but looks good 👍
Season blend as well
Gotta have onions! Bell peppers would give it a nice flavor. I usually add green and red. Also, fresh garlic.
It looks good and simple to make it, If you don't like the way she makes it, Do your own video.
Well I appreciate other suggestions. Because I usually would add onions and sear, but I would have just followed this video because I’m so busy I did t think about it. But I am glad she posted this as I am cooking it tomorrow and I’m going to insert the garlic into the meat like someone suggested
Dump and go. No extra steps. Still tastes great despite "experts" telling me I have to sear the meat first. Perfection!
Yes "experts"
You don’t have to it just locks in the flavors a little more. Good either way.
You should
I use brown gravy mix instead of beef broth, like mom always used. But I also sear mine, always turns out extremely tough when I do it. Dunno what I'm missing. Slow cooked for 5 hours, then 8. Can never get it soft to cut with a fork 😢
@@beerlimelady9041 LOL. What? Cranky? LOL!!! My comment was POSITIVE towards the video you donkey LOL. I have seared meat before adding it to a crockpot and I have added it raw. I've done it both ways. It tastes great both ways...which means...as my comment implies...is an unecessary step to "sear" it (despite what experts say). It's good both ways. No need to take the extra time to sear it.
Not sure what you're on tonight, but I'm gonna say lay off the beer and lime for a while LOL.
You had me at butter.
Never had it w butter but I added half a stick & it melted in my mouth silk like butter
Yessss.....Butter on beef, who knew, right??? But ever heard of the very upscale, very expensive restaurant- Ruth's Chris' Steakhouse?? (I know it looks like I misused punctuation, but it's done that way for a specific reason, a very cool reason, if you're ever able to check out Ruth's personal story....Very interesting)
Anywho.....They are well known for their $100 plates, and man, I am not wealthy, I'm on much more of ground sirloin budget, than a t-bone budget.... at least it's better than a bologna budget, been there done that!! Anyway, have been fortunate enough twice in my life to dine at this restaurant, it was THE BEST steak I've ever had in my life! And their secret?? Cooking each & every steak in Butter! And I'm a WELL DONE kinda gal.,,, Noooo pink whatsoever in my steak.,.. that is NO PROBLEM for their chefs....It's cooked to perfection, not overdone a single bit, but done just the way I like it and it's not over greasy, like you would expect something in butter to be...But it gives the steak just that something something, you didn't even realize it was missing, and all it is, is simply BUTTER.
Again, I just ask, WHO KNEW?? I sure didn't! But I do now, but still, never dawned on me to lay a stick of butter on my roast in the crockpot..... What a simple, yet genius idea..... Must try very, very soon!
Nut butter
Veggies would be mush by the time the roast is tender! Cook the roast 4-5 hours then add veggies! Also season the roast the day before and poke 5-6 holes in it and shove in fresh garlic cloves! Try it, the best!
👀👀👀
You know what you’re talking about. Did this the other day and it was good.
Facts 💯
Gotta try your recipe . 😊Thanks
Some people like it mush, especially if they have kids who don’t like the texture of veggies, also if it’s mushy it can give soup vibes, it’s just different preferences that’s all!
You should sear the roast first and sautee the onions in seasoning. It makes a difference in the final product. I wouldn't even put the carrots and potatoes in right away... might let the roast go for a while first. Anyways, it's a good short cut.
Facts!!
Defeating the point of a slow cooker
You have 15 minutes before you have to leave for work and you want dinner to be ready when you get home after working a 12 hour day.
Go ahead and do that.
Not trying to be a smart a$$.
It will still be plenty flavorful and you can always add more seasonings.
Why? Unnecessary work is all that is.
This is meant to be easy. Smh
Every other video I see has 100000 ingredients and are hard to follow. Your video eased my mind and my roast came out great. Thank you and happy holidays ❤️
On what setting?
@@hopefit7172 I either cook mine for 4 hours on high or 6-8 hours on low 😊
What if I don’t have beef broth? Can I use water?
@@angelaquintero1691 yes you can use water. However I would recommended using some tomato paste or chicken bouillon seasoning, just anything to compensate for some sort of flavor for the meat to cook in. I’ve even used the top ramen beef/chicken seasoning packets before 😂 I just save the ramen noodles for something else later. Sometimes you gotta work with what you got! 🙏
@@angelaquintero1691I also cook the meat in the broth for a few hours first and add the veggies later , so they don’t get soggy
I'm a guy and I'll say it, takes a woman to make something delicious and simply put together. A dude would have told us to place the roast on a hot engine, run the car for ten miles then abruptly stop and ram it up the tailpipe of a diesel truck, then take it out, pour beer on it, stomp on it with some rider healed boots then rub it down with ten different spices and place it in a smoker for two days.
That looks so simple thank god
This looks pretty good, especially for such a simple recipe! Next time try without the butter & see how it goes, there’s usually enough fat in a chuck roast that you don’t need any extra. I love butter but I’m not sure if it really adds anything necessary to the recipe here. Then again, your taste is your taste!
Agreed. I always leave out the butter.
I add some Kitchen Bouquet (a liquid concentrated flavoring, just a tbsp or 2 depending on the size of the roast with the broth.) It makes the best gravy. I don't like corn starch, so I never thicken my gravy. My Aunt taught me about Kitchen Bouquet years ago. I use for beef and turkey.
This the best simple steps I ever saw ❤
Love it
Looks good I would do this with Dr pepper and beer
I think this will be the first recipe i will use for my new crockpot!
Exciting. I hope it turns out great😂❤🎉
I’ve been looking at recipes to make in my cooker and this one is the simplest and good tasting I’m gonna have to try this one 👍🏻
Add oil to meat first so season will stick, then stir fry it to Brown a little bit not cook then add it to crock pot, put veg in when it’s about 2-3hrs left to cook, add creole, ranch, and brown gravy seasoning mixes, also add gravy to the broth mixture and poke holes through so flavor can seep through.
If you brown the meat first, it will not only look better but it will taste better and then you can make some killer gravy with stock when you're finished.
🎉that’s look a lot easier then most videos.
Looks like it'll taste better too.
Thank you for sharing the recipe! I need to make a roast this weekend! This looks perfect!
Thank you so much
I like todo my potatoes separate and mash them and put the pot roast and fixins on top
Looks amazing but personally I would add shallot onions in there with half a cup of red wine, dash of Worcestershire sauce and some aromatics such as cloves, bay leaf, rosemary and thyme and you’ll have the best flavoured roast ever
I saw that video too
I'm SOOOO ALLERIC to woreshire I'd die!
Thanks, for the tips. My family says its the best roast I've ever made.
Yum! Gonna try this tonight
I’m pretty sure the point is to be simple.
Mmmm. Making this tomorrow. Side will be corn on the cob. Thanks
I've never used a whole stick of butter on top for pot roast. I'll have to try that. Thanks!
Looks delicious. I use regular carrots ( not baby)
You got me with baby carrots and butter. I know that’s good!
Quick, delicious and easy. 👍🏻
Made this with the short on a loop! Music is sooooo soothing.
Love this simple recipe.
How long are you supposed to cook it for?
High 3-4 hours or low 6-8 😊
Exactly my question
Awesome! How long did you have it on for? What setting high or low? 😊❤
Thanks for asking thats an important question for those of us not used to a slow cooker
That’s the way I like it. Simple, must have my carrots, potatoes & onions. 👍
Looks easy and yummy
this crockpot is so tasty and yummy thank you for the recipe
Thank you for making it simple! I those long videos!
oh wow that looks so Delicious 😋
Simple n tasty
I made this twice in the last week!!! Perfect and so tasty!!!! Thank you!
Did you add raisins too 😃
Yay!
How long in the pot?
Thank you for keeping it simple girl ❤
I will be making this tomorrow!
Nicely done!
Love it. I thank you !
Wow that looks so good and easy.
I like simple TO THE POINT VIDEOS #THANKUVERYMUCH🙏
Looks wonderful!!!
Wow good easy......nice love it. Personally i would not add that much butter, but that is just me.
Love the butter 🧈
It’s the song for me 🎶
Probably my favorite meal ever the way the carrots exorpe the juices is unreal but just fyi those are GMO carrots if you boil them the water turns green
Thank you
Use beef bone broth, red wine some bay leaves
Looks delicious; yummy ☺️😋
I am totally trying this. I have a fascination of buying cheap steaks like chuck and then being disappointed by how chewy they are, I never thought about putting it into the slow cooker as one whole thing. Normally I cut it into chucks for stew.
a dutch oven will do wonders as well. can stew them down for taco meat
When she put a whole stick of butter on there, I knew she was my girl!!!
I also cut an onion in half to put on top of my roast and use beef bone broth instead of water....YUMMY
Ok I never tried butter .. I will try this tomorrow, thanks 😀
Looks great. Only issue I have is u not searing that roast before putting in the crock pot. U missed out on some flavor
The whole point of a slow cooker is so you dont need to use the hob oven etc.
I agree with searing it first. Using a crock pot lets you cook and tenderize for long periods of time, unattended. Instead of checking on a stove throughout the day or worrying about leaving it on while not at home.
@@becky1993x nobody is saying to use the oven tho. Searing your meat first allows for great flavor in beef.
@@Jeazzy24 exactly so to do that u need to use an oven 😆
@@becky1993x who said anything about a oven? Did u even read what was said. U can easily sear your meat in the crockpot or in a cast iron on top of the stove
Just roast season or Lawrys will do too n usually pan sear 1st but to each their own
Ima try it👍
Sear the roast in a pan first on both sides to lock in juices
My mouth is watering
That looks good but I like to sear both sides of meat first
Looks great. What do you recommend for time and high or low setting?
Low 3.5-4 hrs or high 7-8 hours!
@@MadisonLoethen umm do you have this flipped?
@@mithas1808 yes haha
Food critics still eating their mamas food in the comments
Agree.....you got to love all these YT chefs. They watch a bunch of YT videos on cooking and they think they are a chef.
That looks good
Love this recipe!
Imma do this Wednesday
It looks so good what you cooked! And hou are very pretty!
Aw thanks!
Add a little cayenne pepper and any sweet red wine and maybe saute some onion, garlic an celery in a skillet before adding it and you'll impress me❤
Needs more butter though lol
Add some thyme, some quartered button mushrooms and slivered onions to really make it to die for good.
Does that work without browning them first? It would be so handy
I love your recipe. Maybe try browning your meat first. Gives a good texture and flavor ❤
Baby that roast ainn got no flava 😂
You prob add 5 cups of salt to everything 😂
Wow that's cool
This is the style of pot roast that turned off a lot of kids to pot roast. It's the "lazy" version. I'm sure it tastes fine but with a bit extra work you can take this to the next level.
I salt the meat, wrap it in cellophane and chill it for up to three days, wipe off the salt, sear it (of course, this step should not be skipped) and then create a base with leeks, onion, tomato paste and red wine that is cooked in the pan the beef was seared in. The baby carrots turn to mush so it's best to use big whole carrots cut into 1-2 inch chunks. Celery, parsnip, whole red potato (russet should not be used as shown in your video because they are too starchy) and celery are nestled around it and it cooks for 6-8 hours in a slow cooker. You're welcome!
Yep, that's exactly how i do it too.
How long do you cook?
Searing it helps
I️ can only eat crockpot meals cause I️ live in a hotel 😊😂
Needs celery and onions looks good though
Looks nice that
How long did you cook this for?
I am thinking to invest in a crockpot. What model are using and is it good? Would you recommend it? Thank you!
I have a six quart with the locking lid and I love it!
Looks DELISH 😋
What temperature do I put it on on a crockpot and leave it for 45 hours and when do I add the veggies and potatoes when it’s like an hour to be done
If u need that time I’d do high 1 hour then switch to low ❤️. I always add the veggies from the beginning but I like them real soft.
Wait so the blood fr the steak just stay mixed in the broth and other sauces inside ?
Personally i would sear off the meat first because it locks in that extra flavor then sauté onions and carrots in the pan that you seared the meat in. Adds a ton of flavor
I’m glad some of you know how to cook a proper pot roast… the rest of yall can eat alone 😂😂😂
Is all that butter necessary? The meat will naturally emit fat as it cooks.
How long?
Brown your meat first you'll have much more flavor the roast has plenty of fat so you don't need the butter 😊
Supposed to sear the meat first. Would still turn out amazing. Searing takes the flavour to the next level. I also like to add a spice bomb when it’s nearly finished
I add onions and brown sugar.
How long to cook??
That looks pretty delicious
What are the setting?
How long hours ?
