  • Moving to Portugal is the best decision we could have made and with the Summer rolling in, we just love this life!
    Growing our own food, chopping wood, making jam, meeting new feathered friends and days out to the beach... beautiful!
    Wishing you all a good week ahead,

    The red "peaches" are really nectarines. Peaches are fuzzy...they are related to nectarines.

    I'd love to see around the village/town you frequent for groceries etc., without naming it of course. I just imagine a small, charming place.

    Nectarines are very delicate. If you just drop them into the basket they will get, very fast, soft spots.

    It looks like everything in the garden is doing really well! It’s amazing how quickly everything is growing. Just a little tip- You could try a bit of neem oil mixed with water on the cauliflower to get rid of those pests. It’s very helpful and is not harmful to humans or the environment. Everything is looking really great thanks to all of your efforts! You guys make a great team! It’s so nice to see you reaping the benefits of all your hard work now! ❤
    The little bird nest was lovely to see as well with another bird inhabiting it! You are so blessed! 🐣

      @@BaileysHomestead I just mix 2 tablespoon neem oil with 2 tsp of dish soap with water in a spray bottle. The soap helps the oil to mix with the water to coat the plant. I only use it if needed. Certain plants seem to be very vulnerable to pests. I also sometimes sprinkle diatomaceous earth under my broad leaf plants such as rhubarb to help deter pests.

    Just finished watching your video, the plum jam looked delicious. The beach was beautiful too. I think it is very wise of you to get rid of the pines, I understand that they are not native to Portugal and are very flammable as well as dangerous because of the caterpillars. Your garden is looking good & with experience it will get better. Have a great week looking forward to your next video.

    When making any type of jam, the foam needs to be cooked off. That way, your shelf life is much longer if sealed property in the jars. Jam looked yummy though. Otherwise, lovely video and hard work always pays off. Looking forward to your next one.

    Grandes progressos na vossa horta. Não corte todos os pinheiros do vosso terreno, só por causa das lagartas. Existem várias formas de as capturar, quando elas se movem ou quando estão nos ninhos. Só seria muito difícil se tivessem uma grande área de floresta. Ao contrário do que algumas pessoas escreveram nos comentários, existem três espécies de pinheiros nativas de Portugal.

    • @BaileysHomestead
      @BaileysHomestead  Місяць тому +1

      Obrigado. Que interessante sobre os pinheiros. Não vamos cortá-los todos, apenas desbastá-los para dar mais espaço aos maiores também 😊💚

    Tienen que conseguir una cinta ancha con pegamento o adhesivo y ponerlo alrededor del pino, contra el suelo y asi van quedando pegados , eh visto que dan bastante resultado satisfactorio.....la posesionaria.....alguien le dejó de regalo los patitos para el estanque, que ternura......adorables se miran....
