Really interesting video! I have all of them, but I find vintage systems (like the snorkel and vacumatic) to be more fascinating. Do you have any experience with those? I can really recommend the sheaffer touchdown ;)
Thank you for your video, it is nice. I would also add the filling sistem of the sheaffer snorkel pens of the 50’s it is really interesting the way a needle is protracted to fill the pen using the last amount of ink in the bottle
I recently just purchased a wahl eversharp decoband a month or so ago, do you think Akkerman Gourmet Pens Pink is a safe ink for the pen? It’s a pneumatic filler with a sac. Also what other inks besides Waterman do you think are safe? Diamine, Pilot Iroshizuku, Robert Oster? I only have a few bottles of ink and need some recommendations so I can get some more. 😊😊
Hey John - yes a pink ink is safe - akkerman inks are fairly safe and i didnt had any unpleasant experiences using them. Besides waterman - i think all the montblanc inks are safe, only ink from montblanc that i wouldnt consider using is Lucky Orange, it has a tendency to crust up really quick. Diamine the standard inks are pretty safe - please stary away of sheening/shimmering inks from Diamine in a sac filling system. Pilot Iroshizuku - totally ok, with Rober Oster i would be careful - i dont know too much about them but with boutique inks... better safe than sorry :D
If a person who is a non-fountain pen user watched this video about the fountain pen filling mechanism and hadn’t consider buying their very first pen, then this video is ABSOLUTELY & DEFINITELY not for them! - I never tried a vacuum filling system so I may need to consider getting one for my birthday. I need to watch out what inks I’m using, so my best bet would be to use really well-behaved safe inks like Waterman, Parker, Sheaffer, or even Montblanc to be able to clean it out afterwards. - If I were to buy a pneumatic filling fountain pen (and you are right about using only safe inks that are easy to clean), I would most use Absolute Brown from Waterman to match the Arco colour as closely as I can.
well, dont be so sure this video is for a non-fountain pen user, i think its better to put these things ahead of a pen purchase just because ppl need to understand that a fountain pen is not going to be tossed when the ink is done and they need attention and if you understand this from the beginning, you know what to choose from as for a filling system. As for the rest 100% agree with you using safer inks in complicated pens :D its better to be sure
Excellent! And, I have them all ... just one more thing that makes this "hobby" so interesting and fun!
That is awesome! I look forward to more videos with other topics from out hobby :D
@@pen.venture BTW ... in my comment above, I was referring to the filling mechanisms, not the pens! 😁
:D noted - thank you for clearing this out
Really interesting video!

Thanks for sharing! I dont have any experience with those but i've seen some in action at the London Pen Show last year :D

That's a great idea! I just need to get my hands on a Sheaffer fountain pen and to add it to this video :D
I just received a Filcao Micro fountain pen which uses the pneumatic filling system, so thank you for the explanation and warnings! Very helpful.
Thank you So much 🙏🏻 it means a lot to me if I know my content is helping you all
Great overview Emy!
Thank you so much Louis :D
