I was at this show. Bad Religion was a solid opener. Looking around and seeing the entire stadium illuminated by cigarette lighters during the "Release" opening was an awesome sight.
I was there. The universe let me get tickets somehow. I was 13.
I was too! 14 years old. It was epic.
I was there but on July 8th to see the grateful dead it was the 2nd to last show Jerry played before his death
I was 16 somehow I was granted access as well
The Dead left the stage and lighting for Pearl Jam,which they're playing on in this concert
Glad you made it I payed $30 for this 3cd Italian bootleg in the mid 90s
used to play this show more than any
God bless soldier field ❤

Que bom deus te ilumine
Unquestionably amongst the Ten greatest concerts of all time. Not just of the most impressive and loudest. It was alongside lingering Dead Heads who got to see The Grateful Dead just 28 days before Jerry Garcia’s passing. Magical atmosphere & set list matched the packed Soldier Field’s emotion, and Pearl Jam’s furious mood. The mixed results from the Woodstock “run it back” a year earlier would have been historical. Unfortunately Pearl could not make it to perform the festival, and the greatest band in the world at the time not being available was a tough challenge for WS
I'm one a those Heads July 8 1995 was my first n only Dead show w jerrbear ...I'm also a PJFiend theyre my 2 fave bands of all time lol
Yea the deads light show was sick af but not too crazy they had the dancing bears n all kinds stuff I read they left the lighting setup For PJ to use aswell as the stage .
Too bad the Wall of Sound wasn't around LOL Holy canoli imagine pearl jam doing Rearviewmirror thru that god damned behemoth those were the loudest PAs ever used n there's one show where Phil leshs bass was causing the upper deck of the venue to rattle causing immense fear that the whole upper deck would crumble
This didn't happen
I still try to imagine hearing Jeff's bass notes thru. The Wall of Sound if I hear this bootleg
I paid 50bux in like 97 at coop records in peoria Illinois to obtain this 3 cd Italian import still onea my fave pj shows ever
Cheers
I want my 50bux back now its free lol
@@atravelerofbothtimespace4172 this is so good. What a great motherfcker you are, just as crazy as me. I know this feeling for 97. Im from northern germany - lübeck. And it was so difficult to get all the information for pearl jam. Internet changed so much in a good but also in a bad way. Those days in the 90s were pure magic.
I was there, I'll never forget that opening w/ Release. The sun was setting over Chicago Field and Lake Michigan and we all thought they would just come out rockin' Release was intense af, I still remember Eddies voice and Mike and Stones guitars, this took me back. thanks!
I was in attendance at Soldier Field. Magical to say the VERY least.
I still have my ticket - in a frame. Base price was $21.50 - Service Fee was $2.00 - $23.50 to see one of the greatest rock bands of all time at Soldier Field!!! I think they even played a full show to an empty stadium the night before...
Back then Ed seemed more intense. Now he's like a happy old guy.
So are we, hopefully. I love watching "Life By Corduroy", which is when I watch it on youtube from my first show (this one) to now. It's such a celebration now. Back then, it was so angry and pissed. I like to think the shows now are celebrations of survival. Lord knows we've lost enough.
@@EVILKIMMELSSP you are so right. Really wise words.
I was there :)
Was there...the parking lot was still filled with Deadheads from the Dead show...seen Pearl Jam more than a few times...this was the tightest I ever saw them...they seemed desperate and angry
it was the last stand for jerry garcia. 7-9-95

Yes!!!!!!!!
23:14 this is Pearl Jam
Indeed.....an amazing segment of a great show. Was at this one and MANY other bands/shows from 1990( at 15yrs old ) to around 2002 when my concert life slowed down. I knew this one was special but didn't fully apreciate the full greatness till years later when listening to a tape of the show. Hated Soldier Field as a venue and preferred metro, aragon, vic, riviera obv. so didnt fully grasp it.....this is PJ at their best.
@jennyhq6748 not to be a nitpicking pest but I'm not sure this is them at their " best" but its close ...the Melbourne 98 and Katowice 2000 shows are definitely from the TopShelf ...
@@atravelerofbothtimespace4172 the "best" is for everyone different. My "best" is my first concert of my life and it was PJ in Hamburg 2000 - Alsterdorfer Sporthalle. And the first one was Cordoruy. Still gives me goosebumbs.
@MrRobsonator nice I'll look that show up now I'm having a picnic ...I'll say that the entire 2000 tour was super awesome one of the best years the band just had this energy the Touring Band dvd chronicled highlights from the tour but every 2000 show I've watched is killer I'll look that one up .I wanted to see them at the Moda center tickets are $587 . I'm just going to go day of gig n hope for a miracle ticket or try to get a pass from the road crew
@@MrRobsonator I still adore the Lightning n Thunder Neil Diamond cover the most outta the entire show LOL 😆
Man this is out
by far the best...
