    In case anyone is wondering, I've been parking my bike under the same Weatherall that I bought in 2013, in Alberta, from March to October, for what is my 8th riding season with it this year in 2020. The thing is insanely good. Almost zero UV fade after all this time, no water leakage. A majorly good investment.

    @3:54 thats not a “port” for a disc lock, those holes allows you to run a lock over the cover and through the front wheel.
    This not only secures your cover from flying off and keeps thieves from lifting the cover off by just unbuckling the straps, it also allows you to anchor your bike to something while keeping the cover on 🔥

    for anyone trying to save some cash: that "compression bag" can be bought at any army/marine surplus store. we use them for our sleeping bags. trust me, it works. a winter sleeping bag is, for lack of a better term, extremely fucking fluffy. those sleeping bag sacks hold them down very compactly. if you live near a base or find one online, buy it and use it with any tarp you buy. itll make life a lot easier.

    One problem of motorcycle covers is... they sometimes melt when exhausts are hot, and usually you cannot wait until they get cold, so... maybe you should do melting tests as well? Like crush tests?

    I use and love the Oxford Aquatex cover. I bought mine for £30 it's available in loads of sizes, it gives a sizing chart on the bag, it's mostly waterproof, has an elastic base, and a strap to hold it down. My medium one fits in my Fazer 600 (FZS) and my GSXF 600 (Katana) plus they last well. I know of people who use them in all weather's to protect a bike, and get 5 years of use from them, before they have any problems. I would consider the Oxford stormed cover too, but that's about £55 to buy.

    I've owned three of the Nelson-Rigg Deluxe covers, they're fabulous. Large works for both my Yamaha Seca II /XJ600S and my wife's Suzuki Savage. Medium was perfect for her old Honda PCX-150 scooter.
    I think most sport bikes and standards would be good with a large, medium maybe for small ones. Big cruisers and sport touring, XL.

    Ryan, do you have a suggestion on a cover that would work with a top box? When you travel with a top box, do you bring the deluxe with you?

    • @FortNine
      @FortNine  8 років тому +1

      I'd take the Dowco Guardian Weatherall Plus in that case. They have a few special sizes made for bikes with top boxes. You could do the Nelson-Rigg Deluxe too (because it *is* a better travelling cover). But make sure to order one size up, and expect that it will leave your rear tire hanging in the breeze. ~RyanF9

    Bike covers are usually too thin and tear. As standard there should be two types indoor (thin) and outdoor (thick, heavy, totally weatherproof)... very hard to find with all the Chinese crappy thin ones out there. Outdoor should have loads of replaceable straps or better ways of securing in windy weather.. they could also have flaps at the bottom to allow wind to pass and or a way of securing around front wheel..not impressed with what is on offer

    Dowco covers are garbage. After 2 years the lower part of mine has rotted out, and this is the second to do it, and they won't do crap for me. The heatshield material is too thick, and takes forever to dry out, so it rots out instead. If you live in a climate like me, Victoria BC, with rainy winters, but another cover or enjoy wasting your money. Treating the cover with a waterproofing spray does nothing.
    Check online reviews for covers as FortNine is giving you the best covers.....that they sell. Online reviews will be vastly different.

    I can't count how many thieves iv seen that don't second thought looking under a cover... Me personally when I see a cover on a motorcycle I think that there's something valuable under there... In the past iv found good stuf under covers... This is why a cover really isn't the best in my opinion...

    Hate to tell you this, Nelson Rigg covers are just shit. I know this from actual use. The covers don't do well in the sun. Shitty blue tarps do better.

      Lots of people talk with their hands, it's just something people do.

      You've got it backwards. People fidget with their hands; some of them make videos. The ones who make videos are, by definition, the only ones you see fidgeting with their hands on videos.
