Thank you! Happy to see you're enjoying your Forager! Just a tip. The paddler in the back can sit on the tubes of the boat to get a higher paddling position. While the middle seat will be a great addition for the second person. That's generally how most users paddle this specific model. Hope that helps.

Thanks, that definitely helps! Yes, I’m always the power paddler in the front, so I will definitely be buying a seat. Back paddler is pretty tall and didn’t have as much of an issue. Love this thing.

Thanks for the instructions, better than reading the manual! I believe it’s recommended to close the valve again after deflating, otherwise it may start leaking over time. Saw that in a video of Caj Koskinen.

Anything is better than reading a manual! And thanks for that tip too! Getting ready for a busy paddle season and always like to brush up on the how to’s for gear which we only use sparingly.

Are you satisfied with Forager? How is it going on the flat water, sea? Are you get wet with selfbailer?
I am thinking about Forager or Oryx...

Yes, we love it! We haven’t been able to use it as much this past year as we would have liked, but yes! With the selfbailer, you will get a little wet but not more than the water you’d get from normal use with anything else. Don’t use in the sea. We use our sea kayaks for that. The forager isn’t as powerful where we live to handle the ocean (tides, wind) etc. it’s great for rivers and flat water though. Hope that helps!

Are these more stable than a kayak? I can't kayak with my dog because it gets too wobbly. Hes about 80 pounds. Have you ever had a large dog on a ride?
Thanks for the info in the video 📹

Hey Brandon, wow you found a really old video of ours 😁. I’m very familiar with large dogs, but not in a regular kayak or this one. It’s very stable, more so than our thinner longer sea kayaks, but I’d be more concerned about his teeth/toenails tearing it. I have a buddy who brings his Bernese paddling, but in a canoe.

@@MagellanandGreyhound Thanks for the quick reply. I like the idea of these boats because I can put them in my backpack, hike up the river then go down the river without the whole ordeal with cars being dropped off. Really disappointed to hear about dog claws being a problem. I was hoping these were tougher boats, but anyhow it is what it is. Thanks again for the reply. Peace ✌ from Atlanta

No problem! These rafts are really durable, so I don't want to say you can't bring a dog, but I have no experience trying. It wouldn't hurt to reach out to the company. But yes, the whole idea is you throw it in a pack and hike and paddle back. We bought ours almost entirely from the recommendation from a national park ranger. The good news too is that Alpacka isn't the only company to do this either. Hopefully you find a good solution.
