That was some excellent close up video of the running action! Super steady and high def! Bet the runners loved watching it afterwards!

PoMan, another stellar capture of the on track drama and grit of strategic distance running. You capture the effort and the discipline of top level high school cross country athletes. You are the go-to chronicler of this great sport. Well done!

Thank you for the kind words. I did four years of cross-country in high school so I know what it was like to really succeed in the sport. And even if you are not the top runners, the life lessons and friendship from cross-country carried over into life itself. This is why I’m back this time. I’m leading every race.😊

Wow not a single guy slower than 17:30. That’s pretty crazy because 17:30 is even a solid time

As a "certified" XC-RAT, I am having a lot of fun (actually more than the athletes) in making these beautiful images. Some people spend a fortune capturing "birds-in-flight"; I spent mine capturing "athletes-in-flight"!

I think the EV bike kicking up all that dust does a disservice to the leaders. Imagine being #1 in the country and some bike in front of you is blowing dirt in your face for 15 minutes.

No one complained in 3 seasons. I would stop doing this if requested by the athletes.

@@pomanprod the dust wasn't bad (a non-throttle ev, like pedal assist e-mtb can help) if it's super dusty, there will be some dust (no way to guarantee no dust).
I bet these kids (will) love the recording like this, like pro's! is great to see this level of effort and coverage, I appreciate it for sure.
I will say though, the couple scary times are when you had to come nearly to stop to navigate the curbs, and the front runners basically had to pass you or adjust their stride, that isn't cool and should continue to improve, to no have that issue come up in a worse way.
Will be keeping an eye out for the next race videos!

I had the same reaction at first, but after viewing more times, I saw the dust only happens in a few spots (not for 15 minutes). Most of the Woodward dirt trails were watered in advance and there is no dust in those spots. The best solution might be to have an assistant check the watering job the day before and do a little watering to fix those few bad spots.

The person on the cart or bike or whatever seems to slow up right near the dirt areas and then speed up and kick tons of dirt and dust in the runners faces. As a runner for the past 41 years, having run in high school and division 1 in college, I would not be happy as a runner to have this happening throughout the race. If anything, the cart driver should get farther ahead when coming to a dusty area, not closer.

I had to slow the ebike down in order to jump the curb. Last year with the golf cart, it broke the suspension without slowing down.

@@pomanprod a legit e-mtb, like a Levo SL would be safer, faster (when needed), quieter, smoother etc ... would make light work of curbs.
Very cool coverage, great camera equipment, etc, love it! thank you for sharing. I'd def recommend a more skilled rider and/or a nicer e-bike to help make even better videos and be better for the runners too. Cheers!

      @@bikenapa505 something like this?

This type of e-bike would not work because I need a super strong long rear subframe to carry 30 pounds of camera gear. This is why I use the Stomp Ebox 2.0 motocross dirtbike. The Ebox Stomp has a very strong rear subframe to support all that gear in the back. Also note that I’m running a 60 V 48 aH battery with a 5000 W motor.
I tried using an e-mountain bike in my first season. The frame wasn't rigid enough against torsion caused by all the camera gear and gimbal. It didn’t have enough power to go uphill especially a hill like Mount sac poop out hill. It didn't have enough range for me to cover 25 races or 75 miles non-stop.
The cost of the Stomp (after modifications) was about $3500. The Levo SL is $8000 before modification. That difference is at least $4500. When no one is paying me to do this filming, that $4500 differential is like the proverbial solid whack in the back of my head with the voice over of "what were you thinking"?

    • @pomanprod
      @pomanprod  3 місяці тому +2

@@bikenapa505 the speed is not very fast for a mountain bike, and the skill is not in mountain biking, but in being able to adjust auto focus, framing and adjusting the gimbal while you’re riding the bike. A mountain biker would be bored out of his mind riding at 15 to 18 mph while doing all of these video adjustments.

@@pomanprod I can see the ramps helped. Longer ramps could enable you to go faster, but shorter ramps reduce risk that the runners might trip on them. In the Girls race I could see an official moved the ramp to the side after the leaders went past. There are sure a lot of curb crossings!
