Fun fact: Tom Arnold's story about his ex-wife taking the ice cube trays is an anecdote from his real life, as he was in the midst of divorcing Roseanne Barr at the time, and apparently she was pretty petty about it. 😂

even funner fact, when Arnie smashed the van window it was the wrong one, he was supposed to his the breakaway glass window in the front. because Tom's reaction was unintended and they just kept going with the take, Cameron left it in

33:27 "Fun" fact: while working, the radar in a jet produces a serious amount of radiation. If you are close to it while it's working, you have a good chance to develop lots of heart issues, or become unable to bear children. Luckily, this never happens, because no one stands on top of a jet in the air. And the ground teams put signs of warning, while working on the radar.
Plus there is a good chance they she would be sunk into one of the engine. It's like a whirlwind.

The scene where Harry/Arnie demands the page 10 and he smashes that window in the car, remember?
Well, that hadn't been scripted nor prepared; Arnie just winged it and smashed the window for real. He was incredibly lucky not to have seriously injured his hand. Cameron liked it so much that the scene was retained.

The old man with the eye patch (the boss of Omega Sector) is the same actor who plays the main character in 'Planet of the Apes' (1968): Charlton Heston.
No doubt, one of the best sci fi films in cinema history and a refference for the movies to come in the following decades.

10:44 the gun he is firing with fully automatic fire is an AK-74 the 74 stands for the year 1974. The Russians got there hands on some M16's from Nam and examined and noticed they fired smaller bullets then the AK-47 did and they then made the AK-74. Initially AK-74 and AK-47's only difference was bullet size but after awhile the AK-74 became the AK-74U which is a sub machine gun that is in this scene.

A lovely piece of work by Cameron.
It was a remake of an french film called La Totale!, released the same year as T2.
Not your average genre film and it most definitely works on all levels.
TL is exactly what it's suppose to be.
Hardcore Spy Comedy where the laughs and blasts are on the same level.
    Perfect combinations.
Arnold personally wanted Jamie Lee Curtis at top billing as the lead actress.
Because her character meant as much to the story as her husband's did.
The studio definitely changed their tune and were wrong about putting her name under the title's name.
The late Bill Paxton as Simon the fake (3rd film with Cameron as well).
    What a performance.
Prior to this film, Cameron was originally involved with Spider-Man and X-Men becoming films
which had the industry losing their minds.
Also the late, great Charlton Heston resembling classic Nick Fury as boss of The Omega Sector
was out of Cameron's fandom for Marvel.
Other than that, it was great to see Cameron and Arnold working together again.

Tom Arnold's character was originally written for John Travolta as a side-kick to Sylvester Stallone in Rambo II, but Stallone re-wrote the movie and took out the character in favor of a semi-love interest role. Cameron sat on the character idea until he found a new home for him in True Lies.

All the humor, down to the time when Tom Arnold asks Faisil if he wants to tango. Just awesome. And when Arnie gives the police horse a severe talking to? Priceless.
Tori always cracks me up, but the rooster overlay when she was making that noise? Max, Editor Supreme, you kill me. 😀 As always, I salute you.

Arnie punches Bill in the face in his imagination. Priceless. Paxton's character is such a scumbag. 😀And Jamie Lee goes from housewife to hot babe so well.
Bill Paxton is just amazing on the dam. He's just so good at being this sobbing loser. 😀 And later as a waiter. Just great. 😀

True Lies was pretty fun, wasn't it, ladies? 😄
Arnold was his usual entertaining self, and with a comic twist. And to think, this isn't even the first movie that Arnold did that spoofed action film cliches. If you haven't already, you may want to check out Commando.
I'm old enough to remember most of the Halloween sequels coming out, but this was probably the first film I saw Jamie Lee Curtis in. I could see why she was a scream queen, but this probably the first time most folks under 50 (including yours truly) saw she could be sexy, too.
I've been saying for years that there's should've been a sequel, and as the years by, I started thinking that a sequel could have the adult Elisa Dushku (Dana) be the star, since she's a proven action chick in her own right. Given what happened to her on the set of this film, though, it's probably never gonna happen.

so a little real world explanation on the runaway Ingram: while the scene where it falls down the steps and shoots all of those terrorists is exaggerated for the sake of Hollywood story crafting, the genesis of that malfunction is based on a real life design flaw in the mac-10. It fires from an open bolt which has to proceed forward to strip off a round from the magazine and then the firing pin causes the round to fire. Unfortunately, enough of a jolt to the reciprocating cocking lever on the top of the weapon can cause the weapon to fire on its own, so that dropping the submachine gun can fairly easily cause an accidental discharge. I suppose the idea behind the stair case shenanigans was that she dropped the weapon and the charging handle was bumped multiple times to keep causing the weapon to fire and at least some of the rounds went in to the area where the terrorists were approaching. The other part of that equation is that the mac-10 has a VERY high cyclic rate, around 1200 rounds a minute, meaning the weapon would most likely be empty halfway down the stairs or even earlier.....TMYK

It’s Hollywood. That happens all the time, sadly, particularly against women. It seems pretty fishy than Charlize Theron did all those nude scenes in forgettable movies before she had a chance to prove she could act. If you’re an attractive young female, that’s usually your easiest and maybe you’re only way of getting roles in Hollywood, at least initially. In the 90s, there were plenty of actresses like that. Even in the 80s, with actresses like Nastassja Kinski, and Brooke Shields. Brutal.

@Hannah Thank you. Yeah, like I said, this was a fave of mine since I saw it in the cinema when new and I'd watched it many times on VHS, DVD and TV broadcasts. But yeah, when Eliza came out with her experience a few years ago it I felt so bad for her and it tainted my own viewing of it knowing what she spoke about and relating to it enough (different circumstances, obviously, but still a similar sense of helplessness, self-loathing that it happened, shame even though it wasn't our fault etc). I did try to watch it again but I just felt wrong inside and turned it off. I mean, technically I don't even need to ever watch it again as having seen it so many times, I know every scene well enough, but it's not a film I feel comfortable watching anymore, like say if friends put it on cos they haven't seen it before, I couldn't sit with them to watch it. I'd just leave their house and let them enjoy it.

    • @carn9507
      @carn9507 Рік тому

@@christhornycroft3686 Yeah, difference though with those actresses are to some degree they knew they were playing sexualised roles in some way (even if super ick like Brooke Shields was certainly exploited for) and if the actresses are adult that's their own decision if they want to do roles that include nudity (though again not if they sign the contract believing it to not require nudity and then the director insists on nudity during filming, that's not ok). Eliza's character Dana is not even remotely sexualised. Eliza herself was a minor, aged 12 when filming, and states that during that time she was preyed on by a 36 year old Joel Kramer who was employed in a position of trust and responsibility. Kramer of course denies it all but has admitted to being about 40 and sleeping with a 16 year old so he's clearly attracted to young girls. He's also been accused by others. And Eliza's legal guardian at the time backs up her events and states she too had reported it during the filming to people in authority who seemed to react like it wasn't even news to them and yet they did nothing. As you said, this goes on in Hollywood a lot. And certainly as long ago as this instance was, the sort of thing that happened and got buried. There has supposedly been some progress in safety protocols and such but yeah I don't think Hollywood will ever fully change. Remember Victor Salva who went to jail for abusing the then 12 year old actor of his film in the late 80s, came back out, when straight back into directing films like Powder and later the Jeepers Creepers movies. And even had supposed metoo activist Rose McGowan describe him as an 'incredibly sweet and gentle man, lovely to his crew, and a very hard worker.' after she was asked about working with a known nonce whose crime she commented "Yeah, I still don't really understand the whole story or history there, and I'd rather not, because it's not really my business.". I had felt sorry for her about Weinstein but having seen those comments she'd said previously about Salva and dismissing his victim like that made me feel sick. So when even prominent figures supposedly exposing the abuse going on in the movie industry can seemingly belittle and be dismissive of the abuse of a child in that industry, how are we supposed to believe anything will ever change?
Sorry for all that typing. I just. yeah. I dunno. Anyways, have a good day everyone who reads this and thank you for reading this. :)
