In 1966 i contacted us Embassy in Tehran asking for some books about united states for my High school. One month later we received about 49 books of History, economic, social life of united state. One of them was the story of Abraham Lincoln which i gave a lecture from my memory in my composition class. In 1969 i traveled to us and enrolled in the college. My father came 3 years late , we took him to Disney land to watch the president Lincoln show. He stood up for respect with his hand touching his heart when the statue of Lincoln appeared on the stage.
I liked especially the part recalling Lincoln's frugal lifestyle and very unpresidential habit such as sewing a lost button on his pants. I also never knew that he had such problems with his Illinois own kins, such as his cousin Dennis stealing the money Lincoln sent to his old stepmother. It's also plainly told how the war traumas took their tolls on the Lincoln family. But what touched me the most was Abraham's beyond his times love and attention to Tad, who had clearly disability issues. ❤❤. All of this makes us see the Lincoln White House people as human being just like you and I, who loved, disliked, laughed, wept, ate, slept....
Excellent series. We need to remember this history and the truth of the ideals held by Lincoln, perhaps now more than ever when we face our own storm clouds. Lincoln’s grave sorrow is so touching, so profound. Thank you for this series.
Perhaps my favorite part in this great documentary series, and that says a lot. I love how this part, in particular, truly sums up a rough totality of Lincoln's greatness. His resolute and thoroughly unshakable sense of duty as commander-in-chief, his continuing unparalleled political acumen, and his innate and genuine spark of goodwill as a man are all masterfully conveyed, as one would expect from the greatest Lincoln documentary series ever produced.
Lincoln should have listened to his staff and kept protection at all time . The creepiest story I know is when the night of Grant and his wife leaving Washington Booth twice rode by them and turned and went back and looked into the carriage . He looked right at General Grant and gave them a look . He then went on to fords theatre and killed Lincoln . He thought Grant was going to be there also . Sadly the world would never be the same again. His death is still felt today. Booth was truly a Coward . To shoot a man in-front of his wife in the back . Booth hurt the south more than helping it . He was a psychopath and his story about killing cats and kittens make me sick . He was a nasty man . Lincoln became a legend in death . Lincoln saved the Union and America would no t be here today if not for President Lincoln !!Thank you for this great documentary!

Mary Lincoln was a crazy person
If any of us endured what she went through we'd be bat shit crazy too ...
Most historians think she was either Bi-Polar or suffered with diabetes.
