Sonoma TURN OFF Click Wallpaper to Reveal Desktop Setting!!!

- In macOS Sonoma Apple added a default feature called Click Wallpaper to reveal desktop. Some might like it but others hate it! In this video I'll show you how to disable click wallpaper to reveal desktop and even add it back on with hot corners. I'll also show you how to turn off quick note feature in hot corners.

I only lasted a couple of days with this setting enabled until I realized that I often click the desktop to close popovers/menus, and also when I'm done with a task to put Finder in the foreground so I don't accidentally send keystrokes to another app.
Oh, I should add that I don't put files on my desktop so there's little benefit for me.
Days? I lasted less than a minute! It was the second thing I changed, desktop image being the first.
@@WournosFromTwitch Yeah, I hear you! But due to change aversion, I like to give new features a fair shake to see if its benefits eventually outweigh its downsides. But it was dubious benefit (for me) from the beginning as I rarely have anything on my desktop.
When I first upgraded to sonoma I thought I've messed up some settings I do not want this, and then your videos came, thank you 😂🎉

Thank you turned this off, turns out I click on the desktop quite often! This function has been on the F11 key for a long time, so I am used to going there on the odd occasion I might need it.

Still can't get the old behaviour back, I often click to desktop to 'lose focus' before opening finder, now I keep opening extra current windows.

Maybe because I had just upgraded, then rebooted, and the initial message was still showing on the desktop but unchecking the box didn't do it alone. I had to restart my machine as well.

I need help. My wallpaper became annoying alive. It changes after a few minutes but it is animated while I am working. I need this to be turned off because it is causing a headache

I want the default behaviour (the one that everybody seems to hate and the reason of this video) but it is NOT working for me, I no longer can reveal the desktop
I have Sonoma 14.4.1 with OCLP 1.4.3 on a iMac 12,2 (27” mid 2011, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2 GB)
Any clue what might be happening? I used a lot that feature and now I have missed it

I would probably not use it often but I can see it being helpful sometimes but I wish they had a configuration option for it to only work when there are windows open and obstructing the view of the desktop. Kinda pointless for it to show desktop if there is nothing open. Seems like it was a lazy implementation.

hi sir, I am having an issue with my MacBook Pro 15 Retina mid-2012 (Nvidia GT 650M and Intel HD 4000 graphics cards). It freezes all the time whenever I use any graphics-related file. I tried turning off the graphics card from the battery manager, but it still freezes.

I really like this feature.
This did not work! I cannot kill the process with Activity Monitor and files keep downloading.
I tried it and it didn't work, still clearing the desktop with a click of the mouse. Damn.

i really liked this feature but i decided to downgrade
I would have thought it would be easier to have 'click to show desktop'. Then you don't have to drag your pointer all the way over to the hot corner.
But then again, click to show desktop is not so quick if you only have a thin band of the desktop showing to be able to click in.

I tried to upgrade to Sonoma from Monterey and now I don’t have Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Hopefully they can fix it soon.

Command + F3 is what I use for years. Don’t need hot corner or default sonoma setting.
Depending on the keyboard only F3 is needed. 🙂

It is better to wait, I upgraded but video driver was not working, so went back to Ventura.
Windows management is macOS is poor at best, so this is a welcome feature.

You can only download one at a time. Are you clicking on multiples to download?
@@cgi2173 Initially i did clicked on multiple but later i tried to click on one but the download never finished its just really slow and barely show any progress
I think this one of the best new features. Way faster to use then a hot corner or a button like in Windows.

The last time I had to "show desktop" I was using windows circa 2000. This shouldn't be a default, it'll just encourage people to keep crap on their desktop.
About 90% of my coworkers (about 3000 people) hate this feature.

I love this feature. Takes a bit to get used to but it should have always been this way. Maybe add a modifier key to prevent it on the fly if needed.

A lot of people's going to have a lot of problems with this new release a lot of people will not get it eats up lot ram. If you've got anything under 14 you're gonna struggle
I wish Apple would NOT just turn these things on by default.

They do this with everything. With iOS 17, all my ringtones were reset and I had to spend about 15 minutes getting back the custom settings I had before the update!

Apple really messed things up with these updates. Switching users is messed up. I go to switch from my wife’s side of the computer to mine it was easy before, just click the user icon on the menu bar and it switches over and then touch the fingerprint thing and boom all good. Now it looks like it switches (goes to the other wall paper) but when you touch the fingerprint thing it just reverts back to the other one unless you click once on the switcher and then again on the new user icon at the bottom and then last but not least you touch the fingerprint thing. Also, my watch will no longer unlock my Mac no matter what I do. And the new watch OS sucks. Just thought I’d vent, lol. 2019 16 inch i9 Mac.
