I like the new angle, it's like I'm sitting in Peachy's lap, or a mini on the table in front of him
Yikes! Is that a good or a bad thing 😂 - Peachy
@@thepaintingphase from how you painted that savager in the skin painting video, it's a good thing

+1 for a Soul Reaver mention!
I hope they get big and decide to make a soul Reaver dungeon crawler ❤
To the creators of 'War on Terra' I pledged your project on kickstater and hope it becomes a big success. Good luck!
I’m super intrigued by their wide range of inspirations for the factions - symbols from such a wide array of cultures which is pretty unusual.
From where you work I'm right by you! Game looks amazing guys
I know this has been out awhile but really enjoyed this. Love hearing people excited about the hobby & what they have made no matter if it’s a full on game they have made or a single paint job they are proud of. This interview just gave me a lot of joy. Thank you.
I feel like the team deserve a gold star (or a pack of McVities Gold Bars) for staying on topic for a shockingly long period of time.
In their defence, I wasn’t there which probably helped - Geoff
The First of may is a special day in France. A free day celebrating work. And "pop" a notification from the TPP... nice way to end this prolonged week-end :D Cheers from France !
😍🙏😍
I am so glad these guys are doing well, I saw them at the last UKGE and cannot wait 🎉
What a thoroughly nice pair of lads - came across with such great passion and enthusiasm.
A system I love that works with a D20 is Frostgrave, Stargrave & Rangers of shadow deep it's such an easy system to get to grips with and to understand!
Great chat! Will be following the Kickstarter, good luck!
legacy of kain reference-
The lads are great and I sincerely hope they are going to be a force in our Hobby for decades if they want to!
This podcast reminded me of when I started my LARP I'm 2013-2018. I struggled with eules balance but eventually had a working game, but it took me 3 years to get to it. Again, good times.
5:55 "How do inertial dampers work?"
Michael Okuda: "Very well, thank you." 😜
Haha
This video was excellent. So interesting to see both the guys being so open about the process of creating a game and their background. Result, my first Kickstarter backed.
I had the great pleasure of chatting to these lads over a few pints on chillcon eve and they're top class. Really passionate about their game and it shows. It's a fantastic concept and the miniatures look awesome! Thanks for having them on the show! 🤘😎🔥
I remember visiting Dead Man's Corner in Normandy. On display was an American helmet with a hole. The solder had been shot, the bullet spun around the inside of his hat & dropped out.... definitely made his armour save.
There should be a powerful armour item of a cigarette case carried in the breast pocket, the amount of times the story of just such an heirloom stopping a bullet comes up...!
Maybe comes with a probability that any shot by that model can fail due to a coughing fit.
Great gents, heading over now to check out their game, once again these conversations are top notch, positivity and passion make for a great listen
Looking forward to this video! Alex and Will are top blokes with a great new game. Backed the kickstarter at midnight ;D
I was not expecting to enjoy this week's chat but I was wrong and you chaps know how to find great guests, put them at ease, and get the best out of them. This would have been even better with Geoff and I bet he's gutted he missed it. BIg love from this Brit in NZ
Great interview, definitely going to look out for this game! Thanks!
Props to Peachy for leaning away from the microphone immediately after the podcast starts. Good to see you've learned so much about audio working on Warhammer+.
Well in my defence the mic was attached to me then, I’m a very animated human I like to move.
Bank holiday making me think this is the third video in a week! Good stuff gents.
YOU are the only one who can make a game the way you wanna play so it just makes sense to make you own. I wrote my own system, Battleground Weird WWII, many moons ago I love it. It's also the best way to incorporate NEW ideas into your gaming without having to buy new systems and all that jazz. I encourage everyone to stop playing others peoples and and play your own, you might just love it! Keep it WEIRD!!!
Game sounds really interesting. Definitely need to look into it more. Good luck with the Kickstarter.
Never played D20 for table top war games, but VOID and Celtos were both D10 and worked really well for scope. Would be interested to see how this turns out.
At the start, just for a second I had to check whether Will had "War on Terra" tattooed on his arm in Latin... then I realised what it was 😁
Edit - Also, what a great interview. Nice couple of lads!
I'm currently putting together my own 40K knockoff for home games, and this has been great to listen to. Thanks!
Awesome to see you guys covering alternatives to GW here too! Keep it up mixing in alternatives. Maybe consider covering Warzone Eternal, I’m super excited to see Warzone / Mutant Chronicles make a comeback run, but it hardly gets any coverage by the big UA-camrs as of yet.
Loved this video! So interesting to hear the process and the passion they have. I would love to see if you guys get into more videos where you play games you play a round of this.
This sounds amazing. I went to kickstarter, and I hope these guys put up a late pledge thing because I really want the greys.
Love the Video, and cant wait to see how this game is going to go, getting ready to support.
This is wonderful. I checked out their campaign and these fellas come across as a genuine creators with a passion to make something special. Best of luck guys!
Do implement the 'nation flags' idea in your game.... But of course, credit the Peach... and Firaxis ;)
The XCOM reboot is one of my favorite games of all time (XCOM2 is good but not magical in the same way), this is really interesting to me.
Really interesting look into the game design process, great video as always 👍.
+1 for Under Siege. Would give you a +10 for Under Siege 2 Dark Territory!
Is that the one other train?
@@thepaintingphase film Under Seige 2 is set on a train.
@@thepaintingphase Yep, set on a train, end the world with a compact disk cyber terror nonsense. Amazing!
Oh my god Legacy of Kain i loved that game, what a memory unlock 😅 great chat and video guys 🙌
The whole series was such a journey!! That game series is what I call great lore writing!
Another great show again, thank you, gents.and war on Terra sounds really good. Best of luck with the campaign
Sounds like a game you can let the dice help tell the story instead of just be about winning, Thumbs up!
Really good to see new games, models coming. seem like nice blokes too.
Yeah they’re lovely fella’s, and the game is great too
Guest: chat chat ...how did We get onto that?
WELCOME TO THE SHOW!!!
Another brilliant video... listening to these guys talk with such passion about their project I wish them all success in the world and it gets launched.
makes me wanna get into it....
I wanna paint a human up!!!...where would you get one??
would have been sao cool if we could see all these models they're talking about
Saw this game at UKGE. The models were fantastic, especially the alien 'grey-like' models. Wasn't so into the ruleset e.g. look up tables and random die-roll deductions for cover.
Sometimes I think you know when I need a new video!
Per Mare Per Teram......... Brother !!🫡
Great episode, but no one has mentioned anything about how awesome their hair is 😉
Just about to watch, but from the thumbnail alone, it looks like Peachy had a good pegging with this one!
😂
Their faces when you handed them the miniature you painted
Great chat and wish you all the best. Looks like it's getting some traction on Kickstarter and I will be watching this one.
My only worry, and it sounds like you have control over it, is as it continues to grow (which I'm sure it will) is maintaining the balance without the need for FAQ/Updates etc which kills off 40k for me.
Looks very professional and honestly wish you all the best with it. Passion is evident and concept looks great
Backed the kickstarter. Currently painting up a tesla marine at the minute.
Oh please do the face scans and make them available to us all so we can print them for all the special characters!
Great vid. Sounds an interesting game
Grate vid. Grate guys and a very interesting game 👍
The game looks amazing, congrats to you both. Not gonna lie, just want to do your fancy zoo safari chef visit now... 12/10
Haha! We all thought the same about the zoo safari too lol
The Peachy-class Titan, armed with the dreaded tea-powered Peg Cannon!
We need to make this a thing!
Had a look at their stuff while listening. It looks really cool. The mining bot faction is my favourite!.Might have to read the rules.
One of my friends shoots in the England match rifle team, and she always shoots in the supine position. But she has a rifle that's specially set up for it.
Really great video
Did love the old soulreiver games on ps1, was amazing for its time. But the one where you are Kain him self is the best of them.
Did the guys steal the bear stuff for there game from TableTop Time?
Bear stuff? What do you mean?
@@scranton8582 ursa major is the name they gave there bear inspired chapter
Check it out and youll see
@@komma8203 oh right. No the constellation literally translates to Big bear and little bear. So due to being bears we named the planets and systems found within the constellation after the 8 known bear species.
The nostaliga88 paints are made by warcolors and not turbodork, not that it matters much, was only thinking if someone was looking. Warcolors just released the nostalgia94 range, that got snakebite leather, in it
Ahh that's my brain for you then XD
However thank you for tip on the new paints. Snakebite is such a good colour!
Funny how there's quite a few of us ex military in this hobby. I wonder why... maybe because it's just great for mental health. I struggle with anger management quite a bit sometimes but painting calms me down nicely.
Does any know which Turbo Dork paint is like Codex Grey? I loved that paint.
What people forget is that you have to create a giant Lore and Background for your stuff and not just print plastic in china.
Building a brand is...expensive.
Bit surprised the guys aren't on the list for what would be their local convention - broadside
The moons name is luna. Thats why its a LUNAr cycle.
Amazing!
The thing about the D6 is that it’s a familiar and accessible object, as opposed to the D10 or D20, which are a little bit obscure and inaccessible. Whilst it is a wider statistical range and has more potential for differentiation; I think the D6 is one of those minor things that have helped GW’s products to be so established.
❤❤❤
Another thing RE rules getting past testers - in 8ed 40K there no rules at launch for transports with occupants being destroyed, needed to be FAQ'd in.
I once downloaded bootleg copies of Warhammer Fantasy and the rules were so convoluted it kept me away for a couple years! Then in 2018 I found out about Age of Sigmar and my kids wanted 40k (so I got both) - and the rules were actually playable. Thus began my journey to spend thousands of dollars on plastic and codexes…
"...The GIMP's *Sleepn'_ " "Well...I guess Yer Gonna 'Ave To Go Wake 'Em Up, Ain't Ya (?)" 🏀⚓
(My Mother~in~Law loved _PULP FICTION,_ ....funny that)
Geoff fans unite!!!! They cant hide him from us forever 😁
Interesting to hear him say the order of the dice rolls in GW is frustrating, but not the *number*. To my mind the sheer quantity of endless rolling is what kills the flow; a combined probability of scoring a wounding hit should be achievable in a single dice roll, especially once you're using D20. GW seem to think a game's quality is directly tied to number of dice rolls per minute, half of most codex's seem to be the conditions under which re-rolls of rolls already made are to be re-rolled, FFS.
The subtractive/additive rolls they mention are original though (to me, anyway) and kinda intriguing. And at least they can be made simultaneously to the affected roll... I assume! Else, yick. 😉😉😉
Might buy some of their minis though, even if I never play.
To be fair I did completely forget about how many dice get rolled by some armies in 40k when we were chatting about the dice stuff.
Just want o clarify what you were asking about the additive and subtractive rolls?? If I can clarify how the rolls are made I'd be more than happy to =]
@Scranton Hey, thanks for the reply. I just assume that if I'm rolling a "D20 minus D6", they can both be rolled together.
My comment about just buying minus is mainly because I'm an unapologetic, very very part-time, painter-not-player. So I just buy anything that looks cool. 😎
@@grimmriffer Awesome that's what I thought you meant but didn't want to assume.
The rolls can be rolled how you want really. all depends on how well you process the numbers.
If you have red Sub D6 dice and blue Add D6 then rolling them both (if the game calls for it) with the D20 would be fine. this way you're not confusing the dice if multiple adds adds and subs comes up. Tbh its not often both appear.
But if you only have 1 Sub D6 then yeah, roll together by all means.
your comment about the minis is not a problem. pick some up when you can and paint away =]
They couldn't find mini's for Greys? Reeeeally?
They must have missed the ones in Chronicle X. lol
Hey there, Chronicle X do have a couple of nice one but they released in 2021 and we designed our grays about 2 years before that!
@@waronterra Fair enough. Everything sounds good though. Definitely 100% agreed on that silly "only 1 armour/shield/dodge save" rule. I just ignore that in our games.
He looks like Elijah wood
Where’s Geoff?
Was about to ask the same question
As it wasn’t filmed on a Monday, I was struggling to find time away from the Barbershop and it would have been a right squeeze with it being double guests. Thanks for asking though -Geoff
Whenever Geoff isn't there, though he is sorely missed, I just think to myself, " They didn't record on a Monday."
as a long time gamer, GM and designer - the fastest way to destroy your game... faction specific rules! all I can say is, don't do it! having traits that can be assigned to leader characters is great. you can individualize leaders and other distinct characters. but, the moment you give a faction wide benefit/penalty, you've begun the 'power creep' disaster. the moment your rules state "this faction gets X benefit" the balance scale is tipped in favor of that faction. what are you going to do that penalizes the faction or give to a different faction to equal or balance the original benefit?
you absolutely need a good foundation story with protagonists and antagonists. then, look at the style of game, one-shot board game, role-playing, tactical miniatures, etc.
if you are going for the tactical miniatures game, what kind of battlefield? traditional open terrain that requires Terrain features a measurement devices. or a grid/ hex board or a regional/territory control board.
just those two decisions (type of game and game play area) are the foundation for the rules.
next, you have the game turn sequence. is the turn going to be; I GO - YOU GO, phased activation, considered simultaneous or actual simultaneous. this decision alone can make/break your game.
how do you select forces; preset group sizes, points, military doctrine. are you trying to build in game balance.
I am sure you've puzzled through these concepts, but they can make or break your designs.
Sorry guys had to drop out of this one, 20 mins in and unless I missed it you didn’t show any images of what you where talking about, found it very hard to engage with visually
That’s fair feedback tbh, we will look at Introducing some imagery in future. Cheers 👍
I don't want anymore games honestly. Just not interested. I have a hard enough time looking for people to play with and already have a huge amount of money invested in GW games that I likely won't play another game.
I have been let down by other games before. Warmachine, malifaux, kings of war, etc. It's just hard to find people to consistantly play those games with and then the sustainability of those games just goes down.
I play MCP now but that's only because I wanted to paint some super heros.
GW is available anywhere I go, I can always find someone to play with, and the lore is extensive and fun.
No need for more games now. Especially hyper realistic ones.
