    That tractor is gonna come in handy moving that rock around. I built a garage last year and ordered 3 full 18 wheeler truck loads of road base and 2 18 wheeler truck loads of fill dirt (dirt with big rocks in it), to level my building surface because nothing on my property if flat.
    You will be amazed at how quickly the rock goes. I couldn't believe I needed as much as I did and it wasn't cheap. I still need another full load of road base for some project finishing around here, and need to order materials to build a tractor shelter. I really like building stuff though its rewarding to see something you built yourself go from nothing to something useful that increases your property value at the same time. You got a big job with the panels but I know you can do it.

      Yes sir...the tractor is getting a serious workout. Time for the 50 hour service once I sit down and order parts. Man..thats a lot of material you've been working with! Hurts my brain just to think how much you spent on 5 truckloads of material. Would love to see and learn from all the projects you've completed. Building that tractor shed sounds like fun! Yeah, this solar install is forcing me out of my comfort zone and that's a good thing! Thanks for the encouragement my brother...as always...really appreciate you man!!!!!!!!

    Hi 👋
    It's me again. I have been watching an Alaskan Homesteader couple, for years now.. They moved to a larger property almost a year ago. This time they mounted their solar array on top of their connex ( cargo container). Let me know if you are instrested in taking a look at what & how it was done, weather you use th connex or not. I can give you the name of the channel . I must say the husband does go into deep detail in all of his projects & he has a lot of projects !

    In the Event that All of the Rocks/Gravel are Not needed for the Solar Panel Infrastructure, perhaps Adding the Excess to the Entrance of Your Property that You Bootlegged to Slow down holding Water on so many Videos ago (the last video where Y'all gave a tour of Your Prophets was a slight refresher of this) right. 🤗

    I don't know a thing about solar, but I find this interesting. Can't wait to see how you all make the frames for the panels etc. I was thinking like you did...maybe don't put 11 panels long. If you make it shorter with several rows, you probably will have room to drive to the water tank then. Not sure if that is right, but sounds right. LOL.

  • @ScottBalkum

    I’m not sure what size panels those are, but If you’re trying to stay under a certain voltage, I suspect you can go ahead and add those other 2 panels on each string. You can go over the voltage slightly on the strings because the panels will never put out their rated power. I.e. 3000w of panels will put out around 2500w or so on best days.

    • @7sigmaoff-grid
      @7sigmaoff-grid  4 дні тому +2

      Thanks for the tip! That's a great idea and definitely something we will be looking into! the panels are 420w and the inverter has 2 PV inputs of 4000w each totaling 8000w. Now if I fry my inverter, I'm going to say you made me do it...LOL. Just kidding Scott!

    • @ScottBalkum
      @ScottBalkum 4 дні тому

      @@7sigmaoff-grid Hahaha, you won’t fry it. I have the same inverter. Just try it this way, build it so you can add the other 4. Plug in your 11, find the sunniest day and laugh when the power comes in. Its what I did and I have bi-facial panels. On their best day, its still only about 90%. THEN…. You can blame me while you’re hooking up your extra panels. Also, if you look in your manual, you’ll see that it actually supports more voltage that stated, it just can’t use more voltage than stated. But, it all works out because you’ll be generating close to the maximum it can use anyway.
      “Ooooooh, that Scott!!!!!”

      @@7sigmaoff-grid HAhaha, No worries dude. If you go by the math, you actually have 12.4 panels allowed, so you’re just .6 away. But, you’ll appreciate the extra juice.

    Fr: The Boogie Down Bronx
    If your panels are mounted 6 horizontally with 2 panels vertically each is that against the rules of panel placment. So then it will
    Only take up 1/2 the space horizontally so instead of 11 it will be 12 ?
    This comment was made before coffee🥴, so I hope it makes sense...🙃

      😆😁😄 I figured that !!!
      Instead of 11 in a ➡️ horitzontal row. Make it a horizontal row of 6 with stacked 2 panels high. It would be a total of 12 instead of 11, but it would take up less space horizontally .

    Lol, you guys are funny. So you really don't need to put rocks under the solar panel racks, looks like a ton of work. 😢
    Rocks are very heavy to move. If you end up having rock delivered for the driveway. Have the driver slowly dump the rock down the driveway.
    It will save you time and you won't hurt your back.
    I'm planning on solar, similar to what your doing. I've been looking at the different ground racks. I wanted the adjustable ones that track the sun. Oh, geez, didn't realize how expensive they are. I'm building a barndominium so I don't want the panels on the metal roof. But I'm planning on building a barn. I think I'll end up putting the panels on the barn roof.
    Just a thought, I would cut some of those trees down before you start. If limbs break off in a storm. They could damage the panels and plus the shade.
    ***Could you put the panels on top of the storage containers ???
    You need 🐈🐈🐈

    • @7sigmaoff-grid
      @7sigmaoff-grid  4 дні тому

      We’re using the IntegraRack IR-30 Earth Ballast Ground Mounts…which is why we purchased rock😉
      Yes the ground mounts are very expensive, unless you’re handy with using oil pipes or other building materials( we are not that handy…lol). We have 420w panels and 22 of them would be too many to mount on top of our containers.
      Once we are here full-time we’ll get cats.
      Thanks for the tips and taking the time to watch and comment!!

    I don't think you can use more than 20 panels total only 8kw input on that inverter
    Space the arrays 25 ft apart, order a mppt crimper with extra connectors, is there less shading farther north? Np you can do this easy , need help ask me. Solar pro by new year.

    • @7sigmaoff-grid
      @7sigmaoff-grid  18 годин тому

      Thanks Bob! Wasn't' sure how far apart the arrays should be. Chat GPT gave me 10 ft apart based upon our GPS coordinates...but I'm definitely going to go with your suggestion of 25ft instead. You are spot on... as we were going to see if we can go further north with the arrays this weekend. I'm not really liking the initial spot we've chosen after seeing how low the sun is currently(with the pyramid mountain directly behind us during winter solstice season). A beautiful piece of property, but not ideal for solar due to the large mountain ranges on our southern side(rookie mistake)...but we will have to supplement with generator and be aware of power usage during winter to offset the mountain obstruction. Hopefully we can move the arrays further north without having to take down a lot of trees...we'll see this weekend ! Thanks again sir for all of your help!!!!

    • @bobmonztr
      @bobmonztr 17 годин тому

      @7sigmaoff-grid I have mine at 25ft ,49th , I got mount shade me at 3pm, since I can see shadows this year, next year I have to move 2 arrays , when you upgrade 2nd inverter, 60kw battery. 12 pack and 12 more panels. You can have a dual system, one goes bad,half still works. Each inverter gets 30kw battery. Join in at the AC panel. Supersolsrstar. The ground rods for home and arrays don't forget those. 5/8 4ft.
