WOW im so glad i watched this! Never doing a situp ever again. How the hell did situps even become a thing?
Great tips I am getting which is very useful , educational for me to recover from back pain and to avoid future attacks. Thank you.
Brilliant - thank you!
Good Information. I'm 80 years old, and other than my shoulders hunching, head forward, peering at the ground as I walk, and lower back bent and lumbar bulging, I'm apparently in good physical health. I've done many thousands of crunches in my life; over the years have toted way too much weight (100-150 lbs) in my backpack, and am paying for it now, walking around like an old man! Your exercises are beginning to help me. I just sent for your core-muscle exercises. Let's see . . .
Ye do core exercises that keep your spine in neutral position!
@@BackIntelligence You bet I will!
I'm experiencing really horrible back pain and neck discomfort. Omg! This is devastating for me. Thank you!
Awesome information on what to focus on to work on abs!😊
Glad you liked it!!
Thank you
For sure your the best
There are many schools of thought on this. I love careful sit ups...
What about the people who do yoga, specifically the "Scorpion Handstand"?
You can do hollow body hold.
Wow this is probably the reason I have a bad back due to military service. We were thought to do this.
I have sciatica and a herniated disk. My chiropractor is now having me do crunches lifting only shoulder off the floor to strengthen my core. My back is now hurting a bit. But what you say makes more sense than doing the mini crunches with one knee bent and one straight
There are other exercises you can do like bird dog, or planks that are better for your condition.
Not clear about this Leon. Crunches - at least as I have learnt them - involve raising the shoulders slightly and simultaneously the knees. The lower back is not involved as far as I can determine - the upper back and shoulders deal with the shoulder raise, the core abdominals with the knees. Bending the spine in the way you illustrate with the metal ruler does not happen.
I dont think that crunch is bad, because in crunch we dont sit up completely and our lower back is on floor in all of the time of doing crunch
I have completely stopped doing then after I had two disc bulges .
what is disc bulges
What type of exercise you can suggest for me - I am 67 years old with problems of cifosis and escoliosis.
Thank you!
We will have an article on scoliosis soon on our website. You can check out our video kyphosis exercises here: ua-cam.com/video/_HK_Kf-4wxU/v-deo.html&lc=UgwCEhTTKyERBvB1Da14AaABAg
Do you have any alternatives to the crunches that i can overload?
Yes planks and dead bugs
Sit ups can be done with a neutral spine, with a hip hinge motion. Newbs usually don't have the strength or body awareness to do this, however. But anybody with any experience deadlifting certainly will.
Last week I was hospitalized due to rookie mistake of doing 100 sit-ups, without having the core backing to do so
I couldn’t move an inch and I was carried to the hospital because I was screaming like a baby every time I moved anything aside from my hand fingers toes and head
The muscle I pulled was just above my lower back right side of my spine
after 5 days now, I started to walk/ jog mildly
But taking it easy
Thank you for the video, hope people will learn unlike myself learning the hard way
I`m l earning a lot. Thanks
For military people, they all need to watch this video and never do these again. 🤯
I'm glad crunches and situps were requirements gym during my entire K-12
what about jefferson curls?
I (Leon) Wouldn't recommend Jefferson curls either... Esp if you have history of back pain.
Thank you
