- Coney hosts another classic event at the last Ultimate Summit featuring the top Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players in the world playing the worst Smash game that was ever released. However, Coney is a genius and does one unique thing to fix this game entirely, creating one of the most exciting and memorable Smash events ever.

Custom moves were the coolest idea for a smash game but there’s no way in hell they’ll do it again
It's a shame, my mind spins with the possibilities for customs Ultimate characters could've had. Might be obvious but Sora is one of the ones I wonder about the most (Reflega replacing Counter, Strike Raid or Ars Arcanum replacing Sonic Blade, Glide Up-B, it'd be stupid but fun lol)
Honestly I'd say the biggest mistake with customs in Smash 4 is just how fucking impossible it is to get all of them. There's stuff like the AFK Target Blast thing but it really should have just been as simple as making it not possible to get ones you already have.
I never played smash 4. Really wish ultimate had them. Seemed very fun for casual play
The most baffling thing to me is how hard they were to get. For one, I'd already question them being unlockable to start with because it's a big gameplay mechanic that took a buttload of time to animate and program, and they're harder to unlock than trophies and CDs (the already-established collectibles). At the risk of sounding ignorant about how devs think, I would imagine some devs on the Smash 4 team being pretty pissed to have this much work basically shelved and hidden.
@@ShyRanger making them unlockables was such strange old-school gaming choice for what was a modern era game, but if they weren't unlockables then they probably woulda been DLC lol
@@crooker23 You say lol but honestly, that sounds like it would've been better to me.
1. You'd just have them. As they are in now you're basically spending hours upon hours getting them, so it's time vs. money.
2. Sure, making custom moves DLC risks "pay to win" but even with them in the game, they were still banned after first EVO anyway, so it's not like them being in normally really fixed them.
3. Them not being in would've opened up time for other things in the main game release. Even if no new modes, characters, or stages got in, more trophies and maybe songs to collect might've been okay cause they're collectibles. And best case something of more substance like another mode, even small would be fine, and touching up characters and mechanics.
4. If they were DLC and sold well enough, that actually might've enticed them to stick around more than just being basically a Smash 4 in-game mechanic.
So yeah, no joke, I think them as DLC would've been better.
I don’t usually watch the smash stuff on Coney’s channel, but I can’t skip out on these custom matches. This goofy, chaotic stuff is what I love the most about smash bros.

That Riddles comment made me realize I forgot about a lot of autopick names in Smash. They've been doing it since Melee, and Nintendo is cool enough to actually include in-jokes like "NOJOHNS" "BARRELROLL" and "KETCHUP"

Fun things like Spirits in Ulitmate and Customs in Smash 4 is always a great change up from the normal sweaty 1v1s that we normally have.
Let's people both be a bit competitive and also have lots of fun.
Skyjay somehow just getting all the grappler like customs which was fun to see since his main is Incineroar.
RIP Void missing out on what was supposed to be the final Mafia.

What makes you put this over brawl(I'm a melee player so I'm just curious) I enjoyed subspace but wii u did let you have more players than 4
@@twelvevoltage Subspace got old after playing it once and the general 4 player / 8 player smash experience is far inferior to Smash 4's options of random customs and more stupid modes. The only thing that Brawl has over Smash 4 in this regard is 1 HP Stamina mode battles

custom moves were the best casual thing to be added to smash and im so sad they gave up on them so soon, imagine ultimate characters with new movesets

i love how they just decided that for one of marios custom neutral b they just decided to give hi a gun. that fire effect isn't fooling anyone, with how these "fireballs" move mario definitely just pulled out a glock and starts shooting at people

I'm gonna miss Coney getting to do wacky stuff like this at Summit. Hopefully there will be new opportunities for this kind of stuff in the future.

We started with customs legal and it was the worst thing ever. They are simply too broken to be a functional format. It’s really funny tho.
You had Captain Falcon’s lightning kick infinite, Fox’s twisting Fox killing off the side at 40%, Mario/Dr Mario/Luigi fireball spam cancer, and then lots of other silly moves I don’t remember atm
There were a few good customs but generally a lot of them ended up being doo doo butter
This is the greatest and most based tourney of all time.
I miss customs. Added so much life and flavor to amiibo and casual play that I just don't get in Ult.

Still miss cuatom moves, the stats system can suck it but custom moves were my favorite part of the game as a purely casual player, when they were deconfirmed for Ultimate I honestly cried a bit.

God I miss customs, they were so much fun. As much as I want them in Ult however, they would be BUSTED.
89 characters in ultimate, 8 additional custom moves per character. That means 712 extra moves to design lol

I get why competitive people didn't like the special moves & equipment in Smash 4. But my god was it fun for casual play, so pissed they didn't bring it back for Ultimate. The amount of people I saw complain about special moves in Smash 4 was wild because it was a completely optional feature, if you didn't like it, you didn't have to use it, but no, people always gotta complain and we lose cool features cause of it.
Man I love seeing all the playing just laughing their asses off and chatting while playing, this is the kind of stuff that makes people fans of players

Dude wtf, hasn't anyone tried the custom moves ever? In single player modes you used to earn a lot of them every time you did anything, they were impossible to ignore and these pros were barely discovering a lot of them 💀
it took forever to unlock all of them, and they were banned from tournaments super early on
I was going to make a comment about Brawl but like.... At least Brawls problems are just a few very bad choices, Smash 4 was a series of ongoing bad ideas.

Man I loved custom moves/stats. They're such a cool idea for casual play. The ridiculous thing is that I had hundreds of hours in 3ds Smash, and I still never got all of the moves...
My dream is to have them return (at least in a small capacity), but I have a feeling that will never happen
My dream idea is for them to rework Customs entirely by tying them into alternate coustumes. With a setting that would turn them off of course. It would simultaneously force them to come up with cooler alternate costumes and more balanced but still sick custom moves.
