The headline numbers for all the latest versions of Audi’s R8 tend to include the words lighter, stiffer and faster, and this deeply sexy new £129,990 Spyder model is no exception.
Everything that moves beneath the car’s handsomely redesigned new bodywork has been paired back, improved and mechanically enhanced. The chassis is several kilograms lighter than in the previous generation model (but 50kg more than the current coupe) thanks to the use of carbon and aluminium but - and this is the truly impressive stat - it’s also 55 per cent stiffer than before.
This provides a basic platform that bosses claim is unsurpassed by any other rival, at any price point. The R8 Spyder, in other words, is the stiffest open top car money can buy. - Авто та транспорт

Exactly he is a very good presenter wish all videos were like this if you get what I mean. Anyway, I liked the first R8 but loved the spyder. Second generation I was disappointed by the looks but this convertible looks great. I'm proud to say that I like the R8 again.

Dude, what are you saying? I agree the previous R8 looked great. But the new one looks even better. Anyways, that's just my opinion vs yours. And, honestly, I did not like the looks of the new R8 that much, at first. But, now, I think it is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! Excellent job, Audi!

bloody hell ..... audi nailed it once again. Having that engine and that sound and the audi quality and the design of this spyder.... together with the worlds best gear box. YEP they nailed it pretty hard

Alex 1991 not the best gearbox, probably just as good as the ssg from McLaren and not as good as the Porsche PDK.

Honestly, for someone who is arachnophobia, the spyder is probably my favorite model of the audi r8

Audi and Lambo really need to go hard tops for the R8 and Huracan. They'll look much better.

Very nice car
It's a shame they went with a soft top. It looks great with the roof down, though not as great as the Ferrari, but with a metal top you can more or less maintain the shape of the coupé, which is usually prettier, with the roof up. This won't matter to most buyers, but current metal tops are also lighter than soft tops. The 488 Spider's roof weighs just 20kg.
could you tell Audi to add a panoramic roof to the r8 coupe

Great video of a great car... BUT.. while the engine noise might sound wonderful on a short review.. having a v10 bellow into your ears day after day might become tiresome I'd guess.

So weird that audi wld keep making the V8 R8's till 2014 or whatever....they were wayyyy too slow after 2010.

Yes but the r8 is a full blown supercar but the v8 just isnt fast enough to be in that category....when it first came out it was pretty fast....but as soon as the gallardo lp560 came it it was so friggin slow compared to the gallardo making it redundant.....however the v8 r8 does sound better haha
Either way, Audi owns Lamborghini and I don't think they would want to make their supercar faster or better than their older brother. Since they took the engine from the huracan/Gallardo and then detuned it and put it into audi's answer to supercars the R8

2. Who decided that those bangs and crackles are a good thing and everyone likes them? To me they sound so artificial you can clearly tell some tech with a laptop and programmed those sounds, they're not organic
