I’d like to just give everyone an update on the Thunderbird. I’m Steve’s grandson, fellow hotrodder. I personally bought and saved the Thunderbird from getting Demo’d or ripped apart. Slowly going to restore/modernized the old Bird to her former glory, with a few go fast parts along the way as well.
They are having a burnout competition at the drag strip Saturday. You need to enter.
That old boat brings back memories from my youth. In 1976 a friends dad bought a 1974 T-Bird with the 460 engine. With one wheel peel that thing would lay down a single blackmark on these old country blacktop roads for as long as you dared to hold the pedal down. We were both just 14 at the time but we drove anywhere and everywhere. The world was very different back then. I am so glad I grew up in that time period. We weren't rich by no means but we had it made and didn't realize it. Thanks for the video.
lol that’s funny and the way it was for me too.
🔥😎🌶
My god, please fix the car and don't pull the drive train! She's beautiful! SOOO Sweet!
I can’t stop myself, I gotta remove its heart. Can’t keep them all and no one wants to buy them.
@@DEADCARRESCUE that's Not true! People would buy it, it's just that people don't have the spare money to buy it. We are all tied into the massive enslavement matrix system!
I agree 100
I also have a 1973 Thunderbird. Dark copper metallic with a tobacco leather interior. And a 460!
I remember those colors. Thanks for your comment.
Nice! I have a '78 Thunderbird with a 302 2 barrel, all 135 factory horsepower 😂 I grew up driving the malaise era stuff, they just float down the road.
Like driving a big old boat on calm waters. Lol
Save that good old 73 Thunderbird as that brings back good old memories
I can’t save them all. Wish I could.
We had a 1976 Ford Elite with the 460.
Took my driver's test in that boat.
Awesome car. Smooth highway car.
My girlfriend had an elite. Long long hood out in front and yes a smooth ride like the bird.
Ive got a 73 myself black over black cherry .76k original on the clock. 429 4 bbl and I just love it. Now I collect Ford Malaise era land yachts , this generation of "Big Birds" is a Lncoln MK IV without the Jewelry. Quiet as a tomb in the cabin, just eats railroad crossings and torquey as hell. Great ride on these. Subscribed Immediately
Thank you for subscribing to my channel. I will try to keep finding interesting vehicles to save.
@@DEADCARRESCUE Yeah , please keep'em coming
Nice old car! I'm originally from Missouri but live in the Soutwest Triangle now. These mid-late 70 cars are the HOT build out here. It all started during the CONvid outbreak and shutdowns, people were looking for something cheap and popular numbers wise to tinker around with and these cars fit that bill perfectly.
Convid? I can spot a Trump supporter from a mile away. Covid killed over 1 million Americans. His mishandling at the beginning of the pandemic killed most of them. I had covid after I had my shot and it was easily dealt with. So if you didn't get vaccinated oh well?
You’re just like Joe Biden. Someone says something about cars and you drift off into something totally different. Why do yall do that?
@@DEADCARRESCUE So before you say something even more STUPID to me than iust did let me introduce myself...... I'm 1sgt Bryan O'Connor U.S. Army Retired. I was more of a MAN and AMERICAN at 17 years old when I went to Basic Training and then spent the next 21 years in 7 different combat zones protecting your right to say stupid shit on the internet. So... do you want to continue to put your foot in your mouth when addressing me or do you want me to put my boot in your ass? YOU need to learn some tact and learn how to talk to people before you say some stupid shit like that to me.
I wish I had the space to buy this from you. This car deserves a restoration
I think I just found a 70 Torino candidate for that 429. I have a 70 Torino parts car already for parts. Can Take 2 cars n build one.
@@DEADCARRESCUE I hate to see this car get parted out. It's in good shape
@@DEADCARRESCUE I need a couple of those buttons on the seats. It's got a pretty nice interior except for the dash.
Had a 71 marquis coupe with the 429 4V . Real tire burner for such a big car. If im not mistaken i think she had around 350hp 450 lb ft from the factory. Anyways new sub from Montreal. Keep finding some more of these land yachts for us to enjoy!
Thanks for your comment and for subscribing. I’m always looking!
Brought back memories of when i was a teen in Jacksonville fl, early 80's my neighbor got a 73 T bird from Good Will. Motor was locked up Helped him for a couple days we got it broke free. It ran like a dream
Our cars made great memories. Thank you for watching and like and subscribe please. It helps me grow and support my car buying habit lol.
I had a 74 T Bird that I purchased back in 1997 for $700. Was rough but ran for a few years until the engine ceased. Had it towed to a junk yard and probably was sold for scrap metal. Wish I still had it!
I miss a lot of my old cars from back in the day also. Wish I had them back with todays prices.
I had a 78 Cougar and that was a great riding car. I miss that old boat a lot
The cars back then made great memories didn’t they?
Love the burnout !
Thank you! I did so many I popped both rear tires right after I filmed it. Wish I could have done that during the video.
Awesome videos love them all keep up your doing a great job 😊
Thank you sir.
Had the same car. Burgundy, with white landau top.opera windows, 460, white leather interior. Smoked the tires, and only ran on 7 cylinders
Lol
The old bird can smoke the casings good job. Love the channel keep up the good work. I've watched all videos so far great content. 👍👍 Jeff Wilson from North Carolina.
Well thank you Jeff. I appreciate the comment’s and your support. Welcome aboard brother!
Luv it steve excellent cheers 🥂 😊
Thanks dave
@@DEADCARRESCUE thank u sir excellent keep on I like shotgun excellent ride cheers 🥂
Nice find, alot of potential there.
Just subscribed to your channel.
Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thank you Ed. I really appreciate appreciate it.
She's a beautiful old girl. Please don't send her off to demolition derby. We're watching all the way from Adelaide, South Australia 🇦🇺
I can’t save them all. Wish I could.
I found a 73 tbird great shape with the 429 for $8000 obo. What u think?
That’s way too much to pay. I sold mine for $2000 to my grandson. $8000 is way over top dollar.
I drove a 75 T-Bird when I was a teenager. I never saw another one on the road when she was my daily driver. And have not seen one in the wild since. I guess Ford made the T-Bird so well equipped that lots of customers opted for a Lincoln Town car for a little more money. But my 75 was super sweet. The opera Windows in the back slid horizontally into the B pillar. This was her best trick. Cheers.
These rear windows do the same thing. I bet this car weighs 6000 pounds or more. It’s HEAVY!!
Look up & down all the fuel lines closely for tiny cracks and such,. Carry a good size fore extinguisher!
I think it was just old gas. The more fresh gas I put in it the smoother it ran.
" I've got a yard full of junk" lol, BTDT. Great music BTW.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
You should put in a pickup you'll be happy with it , I have a 75 F100 with a 429 swapped into it stock with full length headers and a Holley750 double pumper flownaster mufflers .
My brother put a 68 t bird 429 in his 71 pickup years ago. It ran great but I remember 10 mpg. I couldn’t afford to borrow that gas hog back then. Now I want one lol
@@DEADCARRESCUE Mine was originally a 360 and then a 302 got put in it along the way and then I bought a 71 custom 500 with the 429 for 50.00 put a set of points in it and drove it home pulled the motor and put it in the truck it ran healthy and sounded mean
Pretty cool old car. I honestly think it would clean up. Put white bedliner on the roof. Find a sweet flag, or banner for a headliner. Some white letter tires. Oh yeah! Post it north of the rust belt. We're hungry for old iron that isn't rusty.
My 25 year old grandson bought it from me yesterday. Ghetto Cruiser he says. Now to get a title somehow.
Nice car looks like it could be saved you can't find those big cars no more I want a fortune for them
My grandson is driving it today. He had to save it. He loves the old girl.
That one owner gem is just too nice to part out. Once it is gone it is gone forever. 😦
I know but I can’t save them all.
@@DEADCARRESCUEHEY, listen! You can save this one!!!
I love every video you ever one like a Dad and I would do everything I could do to keep you orearg e even seen u track driving video
We’ll be sure to like my videos. Liking them and viewing them is whyUA-cam pays me. I need your support so thanks for watching
Those t birds and continental's rode alot better than caddies
I agree with you. They floated down the roughest highways
True
Yeah ok gas in the carb one time it wont start so you change one plug wire and bam fires right off and idles just beautiful either your a way better mechanic than anyone ive ever. Met or lucky or editing out a lot something sitting that long is not gonna just fire off like that ..
You’re right about me being the best mechanic you have ever known but wrong about everything else. I changed the coil with a used one, new plugs and then that one wire. It started right up and idled fine. That’s all I can tell you.
I have somebody buys that old car I would love to see it repainted blue with a white painted top instead of a vinyl roof and fix the dash and that would be a really sharp looking car
No one even wants it so I’m just going to park it out back with the others I guess.
429 boat anchor smog motor... If you want real horsepower put a solid lifter 427 in there... Then you'll have some real power.... Smog smog smog 429
I sold the car to a boat anchor shop. Lol
429 is a cool engine
Oh yeah they are.
I watched to see the burnout lol
LOL thank you!
Is that car still available?
No I sold it to my grandson.
I just dont understand how a massive V8 400+Ci has less HP than a normally aspirated 2.0 4 cylinder. That always bogged my mind. Like that motor is huge and heavy. In a huge heavy boat of a car yet makes so little HP.
I looked that up and it says low HP engine but has a UNGODLY AMOUNT OF TORQUE. Now the 69 thunderbirds had like 330 horsepower.
Please restore it as is you will be very happy with new technology upgrades !!!
My grandson wanted it so it has been rescued. ;)
@@DEADCARRESCUE hope he doesn’t chop it up like you said you wanted the drive train
@@Slimjim260 No sir, I’m not going to chop it up. The plan is to clean it up and drive it. And add some more power along the way as well.
That's more like 129000 miles...Wouldn't need plugs and wires at that mileage...even sitting for years...torn down headliner, crack in steering wheel, rust on the inside of the hood and engine compartment from salt spray all those years...no grill...come on!...What Snake Oil you trying to sell?...😂...Oh Crap!!!...I just seen the DASH!!!.....HA HA HA!...But i did Like your video 'cause you made me laugh...i needed that! 😊
. You must have missed the part where I said from the looks of the body it had to be 124,000 miles. Dang son you need to watch the entire video to keep yourself from looking dumb lol. Too late huh lol. Now you made me laugh hahaha.
Not sure where your channel is from but I hope somebody buys it
I’m from Arkansas and I removed the marketplace ad after only a few days. Tried to sell it cheap for $2000 and got tired of dumb offers and people expecting a new car ready for the road. I will keep it out back and decide what to do with it later.
I want to buy that thunderbird how do I get ahold of you?
I sold it to my grandson. He fell in love with it and is going to try to get a title for it. I really didn’t want the job of pulling out that big engine anyway. Sorry and thank you for watching.
@DEADCARRESCUE That's great I'm glad he likes it and is going to save it. I was thinking of buying it for my dad because his first car was a 73 T Bird.
How much are you asking for the old girl?
I sold it to my grandson after I found the title.
New points gaped at 19/1000 inch should perk it up
Ok
You have a great gift there... don't be an asshole and fuck up a good thing. Keep it original and take good care of it.
I sold it to my grandson at cost. On my way to Illinois to bring back a one owner 63 fairlane as we speak.
What are you going to put it in
I’ve got it for sale for $2000. It won’t fit very easy in that red fairlane and I’m too old to attempt it lol. A 67 swb ford would be easier if I could find one.
Yeah, well I heard you were trying to sell it and we’re getting low offers. What would you want to bring it up to Northwestern, PA 16327 are used to have a 75 which is basically the same car I got a lot of stuff to trade
Haha your funny.
😂 I smell smoke. Yeah, it's on fire. 😅I wouldn't want to fill that baby up here in CALIFORNIA, SoCal. It can't be any worse than my Challenger and Ram, lol.
Five gallons of gas won’t even turn the low fuel light off lol
@@DEADCARRESCUE Well its almost 6 dollars a gallon here in SoCal 5.50 and Newsom is going to help us all out by adding another 50 cents. He is fixing roads. I would love to know what road. I am a SoCal native we don't need anymore toll lanes or tax here.
74-76 T birds were just glorified Lincoln Continentals
Yeah they were
And that's a bad thing?
Oh the FUN to be had with that car before putting the engine in something a little better looking.... Let's face the fact they were kinda ugly cars 😁👍🇺🇸
My 25 year old grandson wants it. We are going to see about getting a title tomorrow.
Why do people INSIST on driving a car that’s been sitting 30 plus years , then point out it’s not driving right ? It doesn’t take much brain power to conclude why .
I do it because my viewers love it and UA-cam pays me money. Plus it aggravates people like you. :)
@@DEADCARRESCUE job well done
Thank you!
Runs ok, but don’t even pretend 29,000 is the original mileage; with that ratty interior 129,000 is more accurate.
WOW!!! You’re amazing! You can tell how many miles are on a car without even being here to look it over in person. Dude you’ have super human powers. . Wow
So true...steering wheel wouldn't be cracked at 29000 miles either...wouldn't need plugs and wires either 😂
I pray to God you don’t make that a demolition car is too good
I sold it to my grandson. He is going to try to get a title for it.
@@DEADCARRESCUE if it registered down here in Georgia anything over 27 years, you don’t have to have a title just a bill of sale
Demo derby makes me sad kinda. Pointless destruction...but it's probably fun.
I guess so. Never tried it but some people seem to love it.
This guy sounds like he has a screw loose. He doesn't appreciate the car enough and even sounded like all he cared about was the drivetrain.
You must have figured that out at the introduction of this video where I said I didn’t want the body and just the drivetrain. Now I say YOU have the screw loose.
@@DEADCARRESCUE I didn't listen that close at the beginning. But you are not a real car guy. It's not the 80s anymore where the old cars were cheap and plentiful, when you could easily buy one for the drive train.
Now they are rare and hard to find, and some of us people think it's a real shame for a pretty good shape old car to be just destroyed just for the drivetrain. You are just a self server that could care less about the car collecting community!
Please do not rip up that beautiful survivor for a project that will probably never get finished.
My grandson bought it and is driving it on weekends. The owner found the title.
@@DEADCARRESCUE that is great news!
Is this vice grip garage 😂
I wish!!!
Yea id sell it i hate to see it go to waste.
It belongs to my grandson now.
It's a nice survivor,! Don't yank the engine or demo it, really?
Come buy it for $2000 and you fix it up. No one wants to buy it and I don’t want to save it. I find them to video , can’t keep them all.
👍🇨🇦
Thank you !
put a new dashboard pad on it
I sold it to my grandson.
U are a very smart and how to do things with
Thanks you sir.
Sweet old berd sell it
It’s on marketplace for $2000
Why are you going to kill a original low mileage running classic Thunderbird for a dead vehicle , your destroying an extremely well cared for and try and stuff it into something else. What's with burning the tires on these old rescues insanity , makes no sense
Because I get paid money when people like you watch.
@@DEADCARRESCUE that's the dumbest reason , but it's all about the money not about the vehicle being returned to service . Amazing !!!!!
202 h.p. and 325lb ft. Woowoo
Should have cleaned up the exterior and had a nice cruiser not destroyed a survivor. Never watch this channel again!!
Well that’s fine but the car lives on. My grandson owns it now because the previous owner found the title and sent it to me. He is driving it to work as I speak. But you’re to easily butt hurt I see so I don’t need you’re kind anyway so go away.
Wear seat belt...lol
NEVER YOU DO GOODER!!!!!! Lol
How about wearing your seatbelt that would be more impressive than the car
I bet you’re fun at party’s.
It didn't look like you have too much traffic, but it would be a good idea.@DEADCARRESCUE
Absolutely. In the mid 70s I had my grandfather's 1970 Buick Electra to drive. After about a week of seeing the "Fasten Seat Belts " printed above the steering column I decided to try out those old style separate lap and shoulder belts. I was amazed at how much better the car seemed to drive and handle with the belts buckled and I got in the habit of wearing them all the time. Usually I was the only one in the car with the belts buckled as all my friends thought I was nuts for buckling up. Fast forward to 1981 and I was coming home one weekend from college when a drunk driver in a Chevrolet suburban crossed the center line and hit me head on. Because of the size and quality of the Electra along with the fact that I was wearing both the lap and shoulder belts in the collision I walked away with only minor cuts and scratches and bruises from the belts. This was far better than the unbelted drunk driver who had massive head and chest injuries from the steering wheel and dash. His unbelted passenger went through the windshield and landed on the hood with massive injuries. Luckily, they both recovered. I hate to think what my outcome would have been if I had not been wearing both belts. Wearing the lap and separate shoulder belts in those older cars really is a no brainer.
eww eww a CREAMPUFF nice very very nice im glad for you now enjoy it huh
If I don’t sell the whole car I will find me a older pickup truck to put the engine in.
im sure or even a boat,,motor home,, or heavy duty truck,,,or tractor or drag car them tough old blocks are very good very good
